This book contains many unsubstantiated claims and hypotheses about the presidency. there are many better books on the subject. Edwards is recycling his old thoeries which were bad the first time he wrote them. I agree with my collegue Jose Villalobos when he said "there's nonfiction and then theres edwards, edwards is an interesting read but then so is The Hobbit. I don't think any of this stuff is supported by strong empirical evidience and his R2's are really low."

This is an excellent text for anyone interested in political leadership. Both the beginner and anyone who wants a top notch reference text. I have owned dozens of books on the American presidency, I only buy one from the list to give as a gift to others: Edwards & Wayne's "Presidential Leadership." Buy it you will enjoy it. I am buying a new copy to replace my old copy, which is falling apart!
