Other chapters had similar problems - her suggested solutions are too rigid, don't address fundamental problems.
Here are her tips for organizing computer files:
1. Right click the start button, click Explore, then find My Documents folder , and double click to open.
2. Click File, point to New: then click Folder.
and on and on...
So, if your computer files are disorganzied because you don't know the basics of how to use a computer, you might benefit from this book. But if you'd like tips on how to deal with files that could go logically go in more than one place, ways to keep track of different versions of the same file, or anything more complex, forget it.
The topics on organizing your house & workspace are much better covered in Morgenstern's "Organizing From the Inside Out".
Whether you are organizationally challenged, or struggling with those chaos creators who are, PUT TIME MANAGEMENT TO WORK will help solve the mystery of manging your time once and for all.
Ms. Duncan's writing is easy, friendly, comfortable and comforting. She deals with every time management situation that you might imaagine in your business. I believe that, by applying her suggestions/solutions in one's working life, the carryover into the rest of life will be almost automatic.
This is one of those books that I will refer to as a "must have" in your library.
I purchased a desk drawer organizer, several containers for my supply cabinet, the paper port software, hanging files and some labels to label everything. If it were not for my PC,Outlook and my pocketpc, my life would really be a mess. Most of my "files" are on the computer and not in drawers. I learned early on that the computer is my best friend since I have extreme difficulty keeping up with paper.
I must say, I no longer spend minutes looking for a pen on my desk or looking for tape in my supply cabinet. I have set up in and out boxes for mail with the hanging folders (to eliminate anything on my desk). I no longer have to run to the library to type up forms (that was a once a week trip) because I can now just scan them into my computer and fill them out with Paper port.
I have deleted the sound that an email has come in and check my email three times/day--when I come in, at noon and at the end of the day. I also set up my email for auto preview so that I don't have to open the message and I can figure out immediately if I want to deal with it or delete it.
I still have some other things to do like putting in some contacts into Outlook so I can get rid of business cards and finish labeling everything but this has put me in such a better mood, and now I can really handle business and grow.
Many years ago in a period commonly know as Next Friday Afternoon,
there lived a King who was very Gloomy on Tuesday mornings because he
was so Sad thinking about how Unhappy he had been on Monday and how
completely Mournful he would be on Wednesday....

FORTUNE'S GUIDE TO DEALING WITH REAL-LIFE SCIENCE FICTION: #6
What to do...
if a starship, equipped with an FTL hyperdrive lands in your backyard?
First of all, do not run after your camera. You will not have any
film, and, given the state of computer animation, noone will believe
you anyway. Be polite. Remember, if they have an FTL hyperdrive,
they can probably vaporize you, should they find you to be rude.
Direct them to the White House lawn, which is where they probably
wanted to land, anyway. A good road map should help.
if you wake up in the middle of the night, and discover that your
closet contains an alternate dimension?
Don't walk in. You almost certainly will not be able to get back,
and alternate dimensions are almost never any fun. Remain calm
and go back to bed. Close the door first, so that the cat does not
wander off. Check your closet in the morning. If it still contains
an alternate dimension, nail it shut.
