RCA's CC9373 makes it easy to capture precious family moments. The camcorder features a 10x optical (400x digital) zoom lens and includes image stabilization for steady shooting. Footage is captured by a 680,000 pixel CCD sensor and recorded at 520 lines of resolution--the MiniDV standard. The camera comes with a 3-inch LCD for framing your shots, or, for a more traditional shooting posture and longer battery life, you can choose to use the electronic viewfinder (EVF). The camcorder also doubles as a digital still camera, letting you capture snapshots and store them on the included 16 MB MultiMediaCard.
In addition to the usual connections for hooking your camcorder up to your television, the CC9373 comes with both USB and IEEE 1394 ports. The IEEE 1394 (FireWire) port is used to transfer video to a computer for editing, while the USB connection facilitates the transfer of still images. Most Macs now include an IEEE 1394 port, but if you're a PC user, you'll probably need to add an IEEE 1394 port to your computer.
The camera also features a built-in spotlight for improved color in low-light situations. The package includes a rechargeable lithium-ion battery, plus a USB cable and software for manipulating still photos. The unit is compatible with RCA universal remotes.
1 connect to computor
had windows 98 couldn't download driver finally bought a new tower came with windows xp now I find out that they don't have a driver for the xp also have a digital camera csd 4100 same problem what to do?
2 Not bad, for the low blowout price
For Amazon's blow out price, you can't touch a Mini-DV recorder, let alone get one with a 3" LCD display. However, some clarification is required to Amazon's page. The camcorder does NOT have a color electronic viewfinder (EVF) as stated in the description. Amazon has been notified of the error.
Compared to my 8 year old VHS-C camcorder, the picture quality is like comparing DVD to VHS tape recordings. Images from the Mini-DV system are much cleaner. Then there is the size; nice, small and lightweight.
One final note, you'll find this camcorder bares a very strong resemblance to the JVC models (GR-DVL815), wonder why?
3 I loved it
I bought this camcorder back in November of 2001. I used it until March, when it got stolen. I really enjoyed owning this camera. It's light, easy to maneuver, and the menus are easy to navigate. However, it did not take very good shots in bright light. It comes with all the cables and software necessary to hook on to the computer and to the TV. RCA discontinued this model, but if you come across it, buy it-I recommend this camcorder to anyone.
4 Disappointed
...The camcorder took a good video and the still pix. were good in good lighting conditions, but I was disappointed with the pix. quality in lower light settings. Also, be very careful loading the cassette. I was loading the mini-DV cassette and loaded it the wrong way,(wrong side facing out) the tape jammed in the camera, called RCA & they gave me a local repair shop to take it for tape removal. I had to pay...for them to even look at it, took them 2 weeks to get back with me that the inner workings were damaged and would cost me [more] to repair. Of course it wasn't covered by the warranty...
5 okay camcorder with consolidated features
I bought this camera from the HSN.com for... with an upgraded 16MB removable memory. The picture quality of the video is better than a VHS-C camcorder but not better than the ANY Sony 8mm camcorder. Don't let the 400X digital zoom open your eyes. A Sony with 320X digital zoom doesnt break-up compared to the RCA w/ 400x. The still feature of the RCA is only good for close ups with good lighting. It is 480x640. This is one of the lowest resolution settings on cheap digital cameras. I believe that this is equivalent to 0.3 megapixels. For the price it is okay. But for... you are better buying a Sony 8mm camcorder at Walmart for... and then the 2.1 megapixel Sony digital camera for the same price. Unless you want an easy 1 step camera, the RCA 9373 may be you answer.

Purchased my 1st digital RCA CC9373 camcorder for Christmas and payed extra for fast shipping. Got it just in time for Christmas. It was adorable, but cheaply designed. The battery life is very short and I was disappointed that it did not included a mini dv cassette given the price I paid. I bought a cassette, however, within 3-5 minutes of recording the picture on screen became blurred and then showed lines. I got a flashing error message "HEAD CLEANING REQUIRED". I purchase a 2nd new (costly) cassette and still got the same message. VERY DISAPPOINTING! So much for recording Christmas! When I tried to play it, I continued receiving same error message. I called the 24-hour CUSTOMER SERVICE number & THAT WAS A JOKE! I Placed over 15 phone calls and kept getting a recorded message saying try back later in addition to that, I submitted 5 e-mail messages to HSN, and still have not had a returned call. I ordered my camera through HSN and tried both 800 numbers..and still get the same recording. The actual mfgr. says I need to keep calling HSN. I will ship it back for a refund.
7 two in one camcorder/camera
This is my first dv camcorder. What is nice about this camcorder is that it has a camera inside too. It's a little big. I just received it and I have mixed feeling about. The picture is ok. But I been looking a the Canon camcorders there are smaller but it don't have a build in light. This has a build in light has software for your computer. It's also a little heavy. Also the battery don't last long. I do have trouble with the buttons too. It don't feel comfortable in my hand. At night the picture/video comes out dark.. Even when you use the light on the camcorder and I also use two other lights. I was disapointed at Christmas time when my video came out to dark. Also the pictures on the camera don't come out good. I sended it back. I well try another brand.
