1DISC PRGS SCAN DVD PLYR
RCA's DRC233NS will enrich your enjoyment of movies and music with its wide format compatibility and cutting-edge progressive-scan video quality. Whether you're spinning your homemade MP3 and WMA music mixes, entertaining guests with slideshows of your digital photos, or watching your favorite DVD movie, the DRC233NS is up to the task.

Progressive scanning, referred to as 480p for the number of horizontal lines that compose the video image, creates a picture using twice the scan lines of a conventional DVD picture, giving you higher resolution and sharper images while eliminating nearly all motion artifacts. Interlaced component-video outputs help minimize digital and line-scan artifacts on compatible advanced televisions, while composite- and S-video outputs bring compatibility with nearly any television.

On the player's rear panel, a set of left/right analog-audio outputs channel audio to Dolby Pro Logic receivers and stereo televisions. Both Dolby Digital and DTS 5.1-channel surround-sound signals can be routed through the player's coaxial digital-audio output for direct connection to a full-featured audio/video receiver.

Playback features include MultiSpeed Smooth Scan (forward and reverse), zoom, 5-disc resume, Scene Again one-button instant replay, program play, repeat play random play (CD and MP3/WMA CD), intro scan (CD), and combination MP3/JPEG file playback. The supplied remote control operates most TVs and VCRs that carry the RCA, GE, or Proscan brands. The following list (in alphabetical order) provides basic information about how these buttons will operate when in TV or VCR mode.

1 NOT CLEARPLAY
Ignore the other reviews, this unit does not have clearplay. It's just a less than ordinary, somewhat overpriced for what it is DVD player. You must now order Clearplay DVD players from clearplay directly.
2 Fabulous!
Absolutely one of the best purchases I have made! The attention to detail in all the filters provides a wonderful viewing experience. Depending on your personal preferences that you control, obscene language, excessive violence, explicit sex scenes, etc are simply filtered out so well that the movie being viewed doesn't miss a beat. It's as if it that gunk was never there in the first place! The ClearPlay people are constantly adding new filters for the most recent movies and all your favorite classics.

I highly recommend this to anyone who is concerned with what they or their family views. Now my son can enjoy some of my favorite R-rated movies as well and they're easier for me to watch too! Cutting-edge technology at a yummy price!
3 Every Family Should Own One!
This unit is a great piece of technology. My family and I have had this unit for at least four months. We have just went out and bought a second one. In owning this Player, we have purchased movies that we would not normally think about due to some of the content. We have "TV Guardian," which can filter out "only offensive language" with 80 to 90 % success by use of the closed caption signal. But this is the first time that I have owned something that will cut out offensive language and scenes 100%. This is a must own for anyone who finds certain content in movies offensive. You can adjust the filtering to your own taste. There is a learning curve in putting in the new and wanted filters as well as updating the bios every now and then. But it is not too hard for the average person. Having an internet connection is a must have in order to download and burn to disk new filters to put into the player. Filters are being put out for "new releases" almost the same week as the movie. There is at this point over 1000 filters available with a list that is growing monthly. The player can only hold 300 filters in its memory at one time. There is a need to store the other filters on disk. This would be a minus when there are young kids around, which brings into play the next big feature. There is also parental control, allowing you to prevent unfiltered movies being played according to the movie's rating of your choosing.
On the performance side of the player, I use the progressive scan feature. I am very well pleased. Both sound and video is great. There are really no other frills. The player is a basic player with the Clearplay technology built-in. For that purpose, it does a perfect job in my opinion. The controler has the capability of being used to control TV, VCR, and the DVD player. I do not use this feature, but there is one annoyance that I have found with the controller. It is the location of the button used in opening and closing the DVD tray. You can't operate this controller using one hand while pushing this button. You will have to use two hands. That is a small thing, but very noticable if you are use to pointing your controller with one hand and pushing with your thumb and holding the movie you about to watch in the other.
I feel that this unit is a good addition to our home theater along with the VCR and DVD recorder. If you are a family, or a single, that has no DVD player and want to enter the joys of watching movies on DVD. But you haven't due to the desire to have some or all offensive content edited. This would be the one DVD Player for you. It is very affordable with a price of $69.99 at K-mart or Wal-mart. And I think anyone should be able to afford the $7.95 a month for the filters.

Quote of the Day:

Q:	What is the difference between Texas and yogurt?

A: Yogurt has culture.

We rarely find anyone who can say he has lived a happy life, and who,
content with his life, can retire from the world like a satisfied guest.
