Seven inches: that's the diagonal width of the DRC612N's high-contrast, 16:9 aspect-ratio LCD viewing area. It may not seem like much, but the paperback-sized screen is shaped to fit the widescreen dimensions of your favorite films, and it lets you enjoy crisp, vivid images almost anywhere you go. This portable DVD player also offers compatibility with just about every optical disc format, from DVD-Video, DVD+R/RW, and DVD-R/RW to MP3 CD (including mp3-PRO files), WMA CD, and JPEG image CD. Enjoy movies and music through the player's built-in stereo speakers, or hook up a pair of optional headphones for private listening. The DRC612N also includes a DC car adapter for battery-free road listening and/or backseat video entertainment.
When you're at home, you can route Both Dolby Digital and DTS 5.1-channel surround-sound signals through the player's optical digital-audio output for direct connection to a surround-decoding audio/video receiver (digital-audio interconnect not included). Composite- and S-video outputs simplify hookup with your home TV.
Playback features include MultiSpeed smooth scan and slow motion in forward and reverse, perfect still pictures, forward and reverse frame-by-frame advance and skip, aspect ratio selector (4:3, 16:9 and letterbox), screen fit, disc/track/program repeat on CD and mp3, and disc/title chapter/A-B repeat on DVD. You also get program play, random play, IntroScan, parental lock, and picture zoom.
The DRC612N comes with an AC adapter and a rechargeable lithium-ion battery that provides up to three hours of playback (power consumption depends on the operations of the player, such as screen brightness, volume level, etc). Other supplied accessories include an AC power adapter, a user's manual, and a credit-card-sized remote control.

1 I love mine
I got this about 8 months ago and I love it. It has super picture quality and the sound is good too. When listening with headphones Im able to adjust the sound, but I wish it would go just a little bit higher. All the DVDs Ive played have played flawlessly. A nice size, too. It is a great unit for the price we paid and Im very happy with it.
2 Plays store bought dvds fine but not anything burned
This is a nice dvd player as far as the picture and sound goes. It will play store bought dvds fine but anything that was burned on a dvd recorder whether it was a dvd-r or dvd+r, it would freeze and skip and sometimes get confused. This upset me as the box says it will play DVD-r/rw and DVD+r/rw but I never had any luck.
I returned this after a week of checking out what dvds would play on it and bought a Panasonic 7 inch DVD-LS50 model that will play anything that I have burned on a dvd recorder as that is what I want to watch on it as well as the store bought dvds.
3 most excellent!
this is one nice little machine. thin, lightweight and easy to use. the screen is very sharp, excellent quality picture....i also bought a mintek 1770 and the picture quality of the rca was much better. on the mintek you could see the horizontal lines...but the rca.....its even hard to make it out up close!!!....the sound quality on the rca is good not great...but good.....much better than the mintek....the speakers and the volume can also go much higher than any model ive tried. the battery back snaps onto the bottom so it does make the unit a little thicker....but this way....there isnt a battery clump on the back....there is s video output...analog outputs/inputs and a car adapter, anaolog wires and the s video cable was included......ive had it for about a month now and it works like the day i bought it! i even dropped it once and it still plays like new! beautiful machine! highly recommended

I purchased this RCA product over a year ago, and I am very disappointed in it. The picture will freeze during the movie, followed by a tracking noise like the laser is looking for the track. It will often skip scenes. Since the product is over a year old, I don't think it is worth repairing (probably cost more to repair than replace, and I don't want to replace it with the same product). I purchesed a Minitek portable DVD player for my daughter at about 2/3 the price, and it works much better. I agree with the first reviewer. I, too, will never buy another RCA/Thompson product.
5 Beware - This unit has no Warranty
My unit failed after using it three times over a 2 month period. I emailed RCA, they told me to call Thomson (a long distance call) to handle this warranty claim. I was told after 25 minutes on the phone that, even though I have a 90 day warranty, it wasn't covered. I now have a $350.00 paper weight. You decide for yourself, but I shall no longer purchase any RCA products.
