The C997DF from Samsung is a 19-inch (18-inch viewable image size) CRT monitor with a DynaFlat screen, which results in virtually no curvature. With its 1,920 x 1,440 maximum resolution at 64 Hz (1,600 x 1,200 at 76 Hz recommended) and fine 0.20 mm horizontal dot pitch, the C997DF delivers high-quality display images that are accurate and easy to see, while its anti-glare screen treatment helps to reduce reflections.

The C997DF supports RGB analog input signals through its 15-pin mini D-sub connection, while its power supply consumes about 100 watts during normal operation. The C997DF has 30 to 96 kHz horizontal and 50 to 160 Hz vertical scanning frequencies and a 250 MHz maximum bandwidth. Weighing 40 pounds, the C997DF has a 17.5-by-16.4-inch footprint, which fits easily onto most desktops. Compatible with PC, Mac, and Sun Microsystem operating systems, the monitor is backed by a three-year warranty on parts, labor, and CRT.

1 dot pitch value is misleading
They give you the dot pitch in horizontal measurements, not diagonal. This monitor might be fine for playing first person shooters, but for any sort of graphic design work, it's useless. There's bad moire on both sides, and any fine text looks very grainy. I tried two of them, thinking I may have just gotten a bad one, but no. I have a 17" flatscreen compaq running at 1200x1024 and the text looks at least 3 times better. This monitor maybe worth 170 bucks, but not to me. I'm returning it. The color is pretty great, the size (as small a footprint as a 17") is also nice, but I can't hack the text resolution.
2 Noise Unbearable
As reported by some others, my monitor also delivers the same unbearable high pitched noise intermittently. Too bad because an otherwise great monitor for your money.
3 High pitched noise...
I am having the same problem as the earlier reviewer. Intermittent high pitched noise from this monitor.

The monitor is stylish, decent picture, but unless you are deaf or enjoy returning this noise making monitor for warranty repair you might want to consider another manufacturer.

It is ashame that Samsung hasn't fixed this issue... Haven't run into a similar problem since back in 1995 with a CTX monitor. You would think companies would learn by now...

B rating for display, A for style and footprint and F for noise.

Unfortunately the noise is really annoying and the until didn't make any for the first 2 1/2 months.
4 Samsung 997DF Review:
The image quality is overall extremely good. The only thing I don't like is the bright colors tend to bleed over into any large black areas on the screen. That really sucks..

Other than that though, it is worth the money. It looks crisp, has a high refresh rate capability to keep your eyes healthy, and supports high resolutions.

It also only consumes 100 watts of power, which is nice.

I hope Samsung fixes that bleeding problem. My Dad's Samsung 955DF doesn't have that problem. Then again, this monitor is pretty bright, his isn't as much.

After shopping for a crt monitor ,asking the usual questions, what is the dot pitch, resolution, menu adjustments etc.I decided on this model. Reason price. At $179.00 a 19" comparible model ran approx. $159 to $279. This model has all the features, color adj,20dot pitch, max res, you could want.It came with software so your printer will print the exact color on the screen, not only that but it adjusts to your lighting conditions. The screen is clear ,crisp, and amzingly sharp. So for $179.00 for a 19" you cant go wrong.Thats just my opinion.
6 High-ptiched whine.
While the display seems very good, it make a very unpleasant high-pitched whine when, for example, viewing white pages with only black text. The same problem is reported for the Samsung 957MB, so it's not just this unit.
