1 Bulky Cadillac Slider
Nicest slider phone I have ever had, have gone through three of these phones, the earpiece speaker goes out in them pretty fast after a lot of use, ok picture quality, video is a joke! Very user friendly operating system, even while you talk on the phone. Pimp spring loaded sliding action, but phone is too large for active people. I had to downsize.
2 If only I can give a "0"
This is by far the worst phone I've ever had. Not just me, but for my dad as well. We both got the same phone with family plan because I live about 400 miles away from home. I've used the Samsung p107 before and it worked great. I got the D415 with high expectations but it failed! After 4.5 months of using it, the screen malfunction. When people call, it does not light up! When I slide the phone open, the speakers don't work. But when I slide it down, it does but the screen doesn't. I was pissed. Then about a month later, the same thing happened to my dad at home. We were both like, wtf. He went back to his old Nokia and I went back to my old Samsung. This model is just bad. For those who gave 5 stars, wait and see. I used to think it was 5 stars. Not anymore.
3 NO NO
Likes: Nice screen resolution, sd card,
Dislikes:
Battery life is HORRIBLE, I'm lucky to go a day without charging!! Volume for ringer and for ear piece is low, very hard to hear, especially in public.
Menu seems almost ancient.
Phone is Bulky.
in my opinion it isn't very good. I would suggest putting the money towards the purchase of a nice digital camera and just purchase a good working phone.

6 wanted to like it, but..........
Got it as new, but died within 2 weeks. Sent it back to T-mobile and now got the replacement back.
It is not a replacement, they just fixed the problem with LCD and now the keypad won't work, and battery is holding poorly. I need to send to T-mobile again!
Wanted to like it, but i am not.

I had it with T-mobile for 1 year. It works well for the first month, then the problems came up such as the entire case become lose and seems cracked, battery won't hold more than a day, LCD is distored and drop calls! I never droped or had any physical damange to the cell.

9 A Great Phone for Talking and Pics
PROS:
1) Price: FREE. Last month, I got both the d415 and the e315 for free under a family plan at a cellular store. (My 14-month-old Sony Ericsson T610 died recently; I've previously owned a Motorola StarTac, LG flip & clamshell phones, and the T610).
2) Camera: Great picture quality, and the rotating lens is great for taking self-pics.
3) Large Screen and Picture ID: the caller's picture fills up the whole screen, perfect for people with poor eyesight.
4) Battery life is normal, though I did turn off the service light.
CONS: Relatively large size, no speaker phone (though I don't use this anyways). I'll update if I find more cons.
If you want a business phone, look at Sprint, which always carries the most cutting edge phones with bluetooth, infrared, etc.
10 awsome fone
this fone is awsome. get it right away. you would love it. people say the menu is retarted but you can switch menu's from tmobile. call them and they will get you a new menu or a new fone(different one)Just complain to them and say you wanna cancel and they will do their best to get a new better fone. i love this fone though. to stop the slide from going down in a fone call dont be rough with it and buy a slide holder(sold at fone retailers or china town) i do recomend it and tmobile is awsome so this would be a fone to aim for. i hope this review was helpful
11 Best phone I've had to date
I picked up this phone from a T-Mobile store about 1 week ago for $299.99. I was upgrading from my old Nokia (I'm not sure which model, but it about 2 years old).
So far, I am pretty impressed with the Samsung. The big screen is so clear, it is easily the best looking screen I have seen on a phone. Although many think the slider is nothing more than a selling point, it really works quite nice. When I want to answer the phone, I slide it up, and when I'm done, slide it down. It works great! I also get just as good service as I did with the Nokia. So far, the phone hasen't had to "Search for service." One of my biggest problems is that when on "silent" mode, the vibrator is so loud that I think it is more quite when it rings! I'm hoping that as it breaks it, it will get quiter. All in all, I would recommend the phone if you can afford it.
Pros:
Flashy
Nice, clear, big screen
Great reception
Takes great pictures and videos
Easy to use keypad and slider
Cons:
Vibration is very loud on silent mode
Seems like its harder to hear people on this phone
Depending on the background you choose, phone can be a big laggy
Fairly big
12 ADRIAN
THE PHONE SUCKS IVE HAD IT FOR 2MONTHS ON MY 3RD PHONE. TMOBILE IS EXCHANGING.
1. THE CASE SUCKS EVERYTIME YOU CLOSED VELCRO YOU PRESS ON THE SCREEN. 1 PHONE CRACKED.
2. DROPS CALLS ALOT.
3. YOU BARLEY MOVE WHILE TALKING ON THE PHONE THE SLIDER CLOSES.
I WOULD STAY AWAY FROM THIS PHONE
13 its okay
well....slide is up slide it down go to here scoll thru here. its kinda aggrivating the menu setup is a hassel. it does have a good camera tho. there is also no speaker phone which i hate. the screen may no pop up immediatly when you slide it up it depends on the wallpaper you have. all in all it is a good phone poor setup.
14 Excellent phone but retarded menu
I had this phone for a while now and its great!
Cons:
Shortcut keys are not programmable.
Kind of big
Screen is scratch prone. However they sell overlays for cheap.
Top row of keys is close to the slider half of the phone, but it does not affect functionablity in anyway.
Ringtones suck.
Pros:
THE best reception!!! I had many other phones and in my apartment I would get the dreaded 'No Service' appear on the screen. Not with this one! I get 1-2 bars which I thought would not be possible.
Huge screen. The screen is very crisp and clean. One of the best if not the best I have every seen.
The guy that spoke of the camera and not being able to rotate/flip pictures is wrong. you can do all that.
Picture ID is usefully. The names come out kind of small but take a quick snap and their mugs come up as the back ground.
This is a great phone. I would have given it 4 stars instead of 5 but the fact that I finally have reception in a place after 2 years and 5 phones never let me have I bumped it up one.
Highly recommend.
15 I love this phone!! Except for the ringtones....
Yeah, the ringtones suck.
I used to have a Nokia something. I can't remember what model it was, but it was the one with the circular keypad. That really sucked. The pictures were good, but it was a crappy quality phone, and I needed a new one after a year.
So I bought this one.
What an improvement!!!
The screen is large and easy to see, the camera works really well, and it even has a zoom feature and other nifty effect to make your pictures look good.
There was a flashlight in the other one? Wow...*lol*
I like the sliding feature, and yes, it really is cool to just sit back and sssllidddeee that baby open. People do look and watch you use it. Granted, where I live that isn't such a good idea.
The volume on the earpiece is great! Unlike all my old phones, wheree they SUCKED, and I couldn't hear ANYTHING.
Other things?
The ringing tones suck, but they are loud and annoying so you can hear them.
I don't like not having Bluetooth. I used that with my computer all the time with my piece of sh** Nokia.
Otherwise, a great phone! Expensive, but well worth the money!
16 Flashy phone...loving it
I really like the unique design of this phone. Crisp clear screen...interface is great. I have a friend who is a cell phone dealer and he said this is one of the really good phones in the market and he is very picky about cells (himself uses a SonyEricsson P900). And i really enjoy using this one.
A cell phone's reception actually depend largly on the quality and producer of the phone, not just the service provider. Samsung and Nokia are pretty good phones. For this model, reception is always good. I always get at least 2 bars. In my dorm room, most of my other suitmates don't get receptions, only I do!
The quality of picture and video recording is clear and long (about 15 sec of video). High resolution pictures.
If i have to be picky, i would say it may be little heavy for a girl. sometimes when i'm on the phone for a long time, I'd swith to handsfree, cuz im lazy.
17 Samsung does it again!!
I have been selling cell phones for 4 years. I have sold for AT&T, T-Mobile, and now Verizon. I have used a lot of phones some of which I like, a lot of which I hate. What I have found from all my experience is that Samsung makes the best (most durable, most dependable, and best style) phones, with Nokia being a very close second. Other Samsung models I have owned were the S105, V205 and the E715. When I had the E715 I didn't think a phone could get much better. Then the D415 was released. It is very similar to the 715. They took all the best things about that phone and put them into this one. The camera is of great quality (for a phone), the screen is crisp and clear, the reception is as good as any other T-Mobile phone I've ever owned, and, of course, the slide feature is pretty cool. You can't help but feel a little like a high class stud when you slide it open. One thing I really like about this slider in comparison to other sliders is that you can use the phone when it is slid closed. You can answer, use the menus and all the features, and if you have the numbers you need programmed into your phone book you can make an outgoing call too. The key lock helps protect you from making or answering unwanted calls. I also like how Samsung makes it so easy to see what is on the screen. I have terrible eyesight so its important for me to have a phone that is easy to see the numbers I've dialed and who is calling. You have no idea what a relief this is for me.
There are a few minor things I'm not too big on, though. Obviously, the size of this phone can be an annoyance especially if you keep it in your pocket. If you're planning on buying it keep that in mind. One thing I liked about the E715 was the flash/flashlight. Now not having this normally wouldn't be a negative thing since most phones don't but after having the 715 I got used to it and used the flashlight all the time. Also, when playing back videos you record you'll find that they are so choppy that taking a video in the first place becomes pointless. I know its a phone and its not supposed to have a great video recorder, but a lot of other phones that offer this feature (like the Motorola V710 and the Samsung a670) have done a much better job.
As far as people talking about the bad ringtones, I think that's all relative. Personally I'm not a big fan of these ringtones, but I've talked to many people who love them. If you want other ringtones and you're willing to pay a tiny bit extra for T-Zones then you can easily download other tones. There are some free ringtone websites out there that don't require you to pay anything for individual tones.
Once again, Samsung outdoes themselves. They have produced another great phone that has pretty much anything anyone could want short of PDA features. I definitely recommend this phone, its by far the best I've ever owned (even better than my old NEC 525).
18 Excellent Matrix looking phone
I got this phone and it is the best. Everyone at work wants one now too. The person that posted all those complaints and said they should stick to NOKIA needs to stick to home phones instead. He obviously doesn't know how to work a phone. True, when you rotate the camera, your upside down, there is a button on the left hand side of the phone that adjusts that and flips you in the correct direction. Also, you dont have to memorize every number like that guy said. You have to save their phone number with the area code, even if it is the same area code as yours. That way it recognizes the persons name. Every phone number that comes in comes with an area code even if it is the same as yours, that's how you need to input it into your phone book. The ringtones are NICE! You get 31 free ringtones. I had the Samsung p107 for cingular and it only came with 7 ringtones. Also, the other person that posted and said that Amazon was wrong that the phone opens automatically when a call comes in. Your wrong. I read the paragraph. They never said it opens automatically. They said One-Touch open. It's not a button you push or opens by it's self. You slide it open with one hand... that the "one touch" open. This Phone is Awesome... I have never seen anything like it. I LOVE THIS PHONE
19 3 1/2 stars, very nice but flawed
I owned this phone (or the UK equivalent) for a few weeks last month (I changed back to my old network and so lost the phone) and found it to be excellent in most ways. The picture and screen quality are excellent, probably the best in any phone I have seen, and I am a loyal Samsung buyer, so I had no problem picking up the functioning of the phone.
I did have a couple of issues however... The phone is big and therefore heavy for a modern phone. While this means that the screen definition can be exploited to its full, the bulkiness can be a problem. Also, because the ear-piece is on the main body of the phone, sometimes I had an issue with the speaker volume (even at full) as it didn't easily match to yer ear-hole. The phone also hurt my ear because of this, as while talking on a busy street I would have to push the phone hard to my ear to hear properly. My new E800 phone (designed much the same as this phone) has taken away these design flaws and is light, very usable and very practical. I initially didn't like the E800 but after I bought it I really grew to love it.
In conclusion, if you want a rather bulky, heavy camera phone with an excellent screen definition and you don't mind too much about the speaker issue then this is a superb buy. If, like me, you want something that is practical, doesn't hurt your ear and doesn't pose any problems in terms of sound quality, then I would highly recommend the E800 or the US equivalent.
20 Great Phone
I recently purchased this phone and so far it has been a great purchase. Sometime the quality of the signal is not up to scratch but overall, Samsung has done a great job. Note that Amazon.com states in it's product description blurb that the phone opens up automatically when the phone rings (First paragraph). This is NOT TRUE! I called Samsung USA directly and there is no such feature - you have to manually slide open the phone.
21 BEST CAMERA ON A PHONE BUT TERRIBLE RECEPTION
This is the most eyecatching phone around these days. The camera is amazing, the pictures are of a good quality for a camera phone and the camera swivles all around. you can capture audio and videos!!... but if i am going to get a phone i need to also be able to talk on it and the sound quality on this phone was HORRIBLE i gave it a week and a half to see if it would clear up or something cause i loved it so much. But it didn't and it wasn't my server either cause i ended up getting another phone (motorola v600) and the sound is perfectly clear. People sounded muffled and far away on the samsung d415. I am sure the new Samsung Slider they just took out is better, but that won't be out for a while in the US.
22 A nice phone with a great look
My mom needed a cell, so I gave her my old Samsung S105 and bought the D415 for myself. After having a Nokia and a Samsung, I definitely wanted a Samsung, and was about to get the e715 when I saw the d415, and I thought it would be fun to try out the slider design. Well, I've had the phone for a few days, and I love it.
Pros:
1: The phone sounds clear and has great reception.
2: The screen is gorgeous. I thought my S105 had a pretty good screen, but this screen is so crisp and clear it made the other one look like crap. You can see it clearly in broad-daylight too.
3: The camera is awesome, you could easily blow $50-100 at Best-Buy getting a camera this nice. There's none of the "fisheye"-ness or discoloration you often get with lower-end digital cameras. You can rotate the lens (and yes, you can rotate the picture so that you don't get upside-down pictures.) Sadly, you have to pay 25 cents to send the picture to anyone, but that's T-mobiles fault.
Cons: (And I'm going to be a little picky)
1: The directional keypad is already pre-set, so from the main menu, you can press down and go to the camera, press up to go to sound settings, etc. On my S105, you could set the directional keys to go to wherever you want, but it doesn't look like you can change the presets on the d415.
2: The ringtones suck! There was only one or two I would even consider having as a ringtone, but, it's probably the phone companies pushing for the crappy ringtones so that you'll pay at least a dollar a piece to buy them of their website (that's my theory, at least) The wallpapers aren't too impressive either.
3: This is just me, but there's a little rubber stopper in the place where the charger plug goes that I know I'm going to lose. There was one on my s105 too that I managed (much to my surprise) to keep around for 4 or 5 months before that disappeared.
Stuff that may or may not bother you:
1: The size is the main complaint, and you want a tiny phone, this isn't it. But this phone is only a tiny bit wider (like .1 inches) than my old s105, and pretty much the same height (when closed) if you count the antenta, so it fits in my jeans pocket/purse just fine.
2: The keypad is a little small, may be a problem for people with large fingers.
3: No speakerphone or bluetooth, but I don't even know what Bluetooth is, so clearly I'm not too affected by that. I'm also not a huge fan of speaker phones, the headset should suit me.
4: You will have to take special care of the large, exposed screen. You definitely don't want to throw this in your pocket or purse with a set of keys or anything that will scratch, I'll probably invest in some sort of case for it.
In short, it doesn't have everything, but for the $99 price at Amazon, you can't go wrong.
23 This phone sucked me a lot
This is like preliminary phone. They have long way to go to come even close to Sony Ericsson T68i. Looks like inexpert people have created the menu. Infrared port sucks, only 1 contact at a time you can transfer! even with using their online software kit available, it is Horrible. This phone may be good for someone who needs big...screen and camera feature but don't care about phone looks, menu, user interface, connectivity.
24 A prefect Phone
I just loved the phone when i saw the phone for the first time and i really wanted and i went to my nearest t-mobile store and saw the phone and liked it and the most important thing i liked was the picture caller id and the price i they were asking was 299 and then came to amazon and bought it from amazon for 99.99 and the phone has worked great for me since i started using last week and i have no problem so far with it and i would strongly recommend it for buy this phone
25 I trust Samsung...
I usually go for Samsung rather then Nokia or Motorola, because I like Samsung's design better than others... Plus camera quality is better than others too.
I just got D415 today and the hugh screen is awesome! I used Nokia 3650 till now (I had it becuase I got it for free, I wouldn't have it otherwise,) and comparing Samsung's screen to Nokia 3650, it's brighter and a lot more clear.
The fact the phone slides rather than you open it is definately eye-catching.
Someone said it doesn't have speed dial option, but IT DOES HAVE SPEED DIAL OPTION (press and hold phone book key).
Things I don't like about this phone... well, first, the size. It seems little too bulky... But considering how long those flip phones are when they are open and I guess I prefer nice big screen rather than narrower phone with smaller screen...
The user guide says it does have option for zooming in and out for taking picture, but it doesn't (or is it just my phone??)
I definately recommand this phone as long as the size doesn't matter, and I'm telling you, for this case size really doesn't matter.
26 Beautiful Piece of furniture
Functionality wise this phone is too old. Even old nokia's had better phonebook and organized features. There are several good features of this phone.
1. Camera lens and quality are simply the best.
2. 265k colors makes ur eyes feel very comfy.
3. Awesome design
cons:
1. list view only. icons are not available.
2. no speakerphone
3. no bluetooth
4. hard to sync with laptops and other handhelds
this phone is for those who like to take pictures and talk. This is not for those who require high end functionalities like bluetooth. Overall it is a nice piece as a furniture. I have moto v600, nokia 3650 and this one. however, moto is the best of all then nokia 3650(it is bulky but is also loaded with lots of features that are far better than samsung) and than this phone.
27 Flashy phone.. poor features
Decide what you want, before you buy this phone (atleast i got it wrong).
Pros
1. Great Look and style! Slider phone.. will make all eyes turn to take notice of your phone.
2. 180 degrees swivel camera. has a video recorder too.
3. Good screen resolution.
4. Good collection of ring tones and games.
5. voice recorder.
Cons
1. Phonebook/organizer features are pathetic (cannot even hold address). Has immense scope for improvements to be made. However you can attach photos to your contacts.
2. No speaker phone
3. No Blue tooth
4. User interface not up to the mark.. too many steps to complete a task.
5. No speed dial feature
6. Samsung GPRS software.. is not worth downloading. Cannot import addresses from Palm
7. Poor reception quality (not sure if its because of samsung.. or Tmobile)
suggestion: Decide what you want b4 you buy. personally this phone is a disappointment for me.
28 Great phone but a little bulky
This is a great phone, great reception and user friendly. The 262k color screen is a beauty, good quality vga camera. The camera swivels, someone wrote that if you swivel the camera to one side you get upside down pictures, if they had play with it, the side button rotates or flips the picture. I have not had any problems with the phone and it works alot better than my e715 and v600. The feature this phone lacks is bluetooth and speakerphone. I work for T-mobile and recommend this phone over the v600. I've been through 15 different phones the past year and a half and this phone is one of my top 3 favorite phones.
29 Read the manual...... please.....
1. The picture can be rotated (and also mirrored) using the volume button on the side.
2. When I get a call from a contact stored in the phone, not only do I see the name of the contact, BUT ALSO THE PHONE NUMBER.
3. Yes, I'm talking about my Samsung D415, same as the one above.
30 I should have stuck to Nokia :(
I got this phone about 10 days back, its all hype. True its a flashy phone, but the user interface sucks, loses battery fast, because of it large screen and various other power sucking features. The rotating camera was a neat trick, or so i thought - swivel the camera to the other side and you get upside down pictures. OK fine so i can do with upside down pictures as long as i have the functionality to rotate the picture - there's no way u can do that. crummy, stupid, irritating ring tones, thank heavens for t-mobile to put in their jingle which is much lighter on the ear than the cacophony of other ring tones. When I get a call from a contact store in the phone, I am supposed to see the name of the contact and not the phone number... so that i can accept or reject the call - who the heck is going to remember all the phone numbers of the people you know!!! I have tried siemens, motorola and nokia and I have just one line to sum up my grief with this phone -
Never buy Korean phones, stick to European manufacturers.
31 best for the best
this slider is t-mobile's latest attempt to attract customers. This slider comes with a camera with awesome features, and a viedo recOrder! ( its not stated in the amazon specifics ) This phone comes with four games, including chess and has the ability for the slider to open automatically as you put it to your ear to anwser a call. This phone is really neat and for the price of $100.00 YOU CANT GO WRONG. A major con is the size but.. it is a slider not a flip.
