1 Good LCD, good price!
In the beginning I too was surprised by the fuzziness, colors, etc... but after dealing with adjusting all kinds of settings, and reading the reviews I narrowed the problem down to the video card, the old VGA only video card just won't do it, it's like having an elder driver trying to drive a brand new Ferrari, if you haven't gone digital (DVI) yet, do it! Just wish I had waited for the new Samsung SyncMaster 910t 19" LCD Monitor Silver (www.ipkonfig.com/cms/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=164&Itemid=29&limit=1&limitstart=0), although next time I may go for a new xtreme formac 19" LCD (http://www.formac.us/p_bin/?cid=solutions_displays_gallery1900_011) for my gaming PC
2 Great monitor and a great buy
We shopped thoroughly online and at Best Buy, Circuit City (how do they stay in business?), etc. before buying two of these monitors to replace CRT dinosaurs. Couldn't be happier. Love the pivot capability -- mine's pivoted for good -- enabling me to see entire Word documents at once and whole web pages without scrolling. Great color and clarity, comparable to the higher resolution 21" screens that cost twice as much.
3 Very Nice, Good Price
I use this with Windows XP at the native resolution and it is quite sharp and bright with good color. In my opinion Samsung's choice of 1280x1024 resolution is the best for this size monitor. XP
has difficulties rendering readable fonts at higher resolutions, and 1280x1024 allows for legibility without the problem of microscopic font sizes. The pivot feature is pretty slick, and would be useful for editing word docs in page layout format.
4 resolution is too low for this size display!
I bought this monitor for my girlfriend and the first thing she tried to do was to increase the resolution. I couldn't blame her because 1280 x 1024 on a 19" LCD is just not small enough. It's like being on 800x600 on what you are used to on a CRT. My recommendation is that 1600x1200 is MINIMUM on a 19"!!!!!!!!
5 Fuzzy Text? CHECK NATIVE RESOLUTION!
This applies to all LCD monitors regardless of analog or digital inputs.

I've talked to to many people who have complained about the fuzziness of their monitors, and it was all because they did not have it set to the native resolution.

All LCD monitors have a Native Resolution. This means every pixel generated by the computer is represented by a pixel on the monitor. If you don't have it set to the native resolution, the text will ALWAYS be fuzzy.

This monitor supports a native resolution of 1280 x 1024. Make sure you have your video card, display/monitor control panel set to this before making any adjustments.

If the option is not available, you may need to upgrade your video card, drivers.... or computer!

As for this particular monitor and brand, samsung is leading the way in LCD technology, their LCD TVs will soon be the standard, especially if Sony continues to use older style LCD technology.
6 SamDUNG, why so fuzzy?
I've had this monitor for three weeks and tried adjusting everything. I must say I'm VERY dissapointed in this monitor, especially as some PC magazine reviews (perhaps bought by SamDUNG) were so positive, which led me to buy this in the first place.

I should have tried the one I bought instead of justthe store display model but if I can't fix this soon I'm going to bring it back and exchange it for a Philips or NEC or something. Not happy at all!
7 Great choice for an LCD
Love this monitor, looks amazing (video itself and overall appearance). The only problem I had is a hair trapped under the screen, Samsung is sending a replacement as we speak (hopefully). Either way, I would recommend this monitor to anyone! The quality is incredible!
8 Know How To Use It Before You Start Judging
This is for all those reading the bad reviews on this monitor.

I have had this monitor for two months already. I bought it based on the excellent reviews.

When I started to use it, I too was surprised by the fuzziness. Not only that, but the colors were not even that great. So I question, "Why did this monitor get such great reviews when my display is not what is hyped up to be?"

After going to the menu and adjusting the sharpness, my text improved but still was not as good as I wanted it to be. I tried fixing the color but changing the refreshing 75 Hertz and it did improve but also not as good as I wanted it to be. I was about to give a bad review. But then I did further analysis and realized that I have an old video card- MX440. This is a very good card. However, the manufacturer that did this card is a poor company, forgot the name. So I ordered a new Albatron 256mb nvidia FX5700.

When I received the card, I plugged it in and hooked this monitor up to the DVI. Image improved again but still not what I wanted it to be. Install the latest nvidia drivers and my samsung improved by leaps and bounds. I then discovered the gamma menu to change the color. WOOHOO I got the color I wanted. I then customize my sharpness through the nvidia setting window and I can definitely say that the clarity of the text could be adjust to the point where the text was too sharp. YES. Turned down the sharpness to what I wanted and my display is PERFECT. I can no longer say that this monitor has poor quality. I just had to learn how to adjust it. Plus my old video card was not good.

SO, if you have fuzzy text, increase the sharpness from the menu button. USE IT. It can make a difference. It also made a difference by changing to the color I want. Fiddle with it.

Next, make sure you have a good video card. If you have crap, then you will get crap. Of course, DVI is a must for LCD. If you don't use DVI, then expect text to be fuzzier.

In short, I have lived through the fuzzy text and bad colors of this monitor. BUT, I did some analysis and search for solutions to the problems and this monitor far exceeds my expectations. It is a great monitor but learn how to use it!

9 Same fuzzy text problems
I was very impressed with the specs for this monitor, it has a lot of nice functionality (my favourite being the ability to switch between the analog and digital line, so you can have 2 computers hooked up). Unfortunately for me though, the display is fuzzy. Just can't get text to be sharp. I've read several other reviews in different places, which gave excellent comments about the picture quality, but I'm very disappointed. I'm using the DVI connection with a Radeon 9600, but its just not right. Its going back to the shop tomorrow.
10 Buy Samsung at your own RISK
I bought a Samsung flat-panel television in March, and it the panel went dead in April. I brought it to a one of Samsung's certified dealers for repair, and waited and waited. Finally in May, I was told that the the television panel was indeed defective and couldn't be fixed, so the manufacturer was obligated to replace it under the warranty. It's now September, and guess what, I'm still waiting for the replacement. Buy from Samsung at your own risk. From my own experience, they don't stand by their products.
11 despite good ratings, text fuzzy on mine
I purchased this monitor after reading numerous good reviews here and elsewhere on the Internet. Although graphics appeared crisp and clear, no amount of adjustment could fix the chronically fuzzy text. I went out and bought a (cheaper) monitor, and am returning the Samsung in the morning. I'm not sure whether this was some type of engineering flaw or, more likely, a manufacturing glitch with this particular monitor.
