1 Worst Phone Ever!
Maybe I just got the un-luck of the draw, but this phone has been a headache to me for the past seven or eight months. The first problem that developed is that it would send incoming calls straight to my voicemail and never tell me that I had missed a call. So I traded the phone off the warranty. The second problem is that the phone would turn off and on again every time I tried to answer an incoming call. Another trade with the warranty. Then the phone would turn off and on again whenever I got a text message. Another warranty trade. Then my phone deleted contacts out of my phonebook and completely froze up half a dozen times. I have traded this phone off the warranty four times and T-Mobile keeps sending me the same phone. It's enough to make me miss the days of my LG1200 with Sprint. T-Mobile's customer service has been amazing, this particular phone stinks. Or maybe I've just been getting all the broken Samsungs from T-Mobile. Not only that, but sometimes the calls don't go through. There's not even a ringtone when you try and call someone. Then at least 3 times I have been talking to someone and hearing my own voice echo back to me. I don't know if these are phone problems or service provider problems, but I would steer everyone away from this particular phone. I've heard other Samsungs work great. Get one of those.
2 Great battery life, low voice quality
Some say the voice quality is good, but compared to a Nokia, the x105's call quality actually sounds quite boomy and muffled. But the battery life is excellent. I can often make it a whole work week without recharging the phone.
3 good basic sturdy
Basic good phone
Sturdy - dropped a couple times
Good reception and sound quality (just don't hold it by the top of the phone)
good battery life
Cheap-was able to get money back after rebates, bought from a non-corporate t-mobile store.
Favorite phone by far of my sony ericson and Motorola.
Make sure you use the given headset, other non-brand seems to give me whirring noise while I'm talking, very annoying.
4 Compact & Convenient Phone
I bought this phone from T-mobile, and i found this phone is really a good choice. My first phone is Sony Erricson T216, it is also small, but not so convenient to use.
Pros:
1. It is compact
2. very convenient to use
3. very good quality LCD
4. good quality of voice
Cons:
1. It is not convenient for infred connection
2. Games are not so interesting.
In all, if you just want a good & connevient phone, this is a good one.

5 Versatile little phone for very cheap.
I've had this phone for about 7 months now. I got the phone practically for free ($19.99) by ordering at TMobile's site and signing up for a year plan @ 39.99 for 1000 minutes, Nights and weekends free! I couldnt get a better deal because I dont believe in rebates as I never got one back in the mail :(.
For the price, (Very important that one weight what you get for the amount paid), feature wise this phone is fantastic.
(+) mulitple alarms (Morning Call, Daily and Once Alarm) all of which can power on the phone if it is turned off when the event occurs,
(+)To do List
(+)a calendar (with Alarms).
(+)It is a dual band phone 900/1900 which is great because it'll work in the caribbean when I go down (most islands use 900 GSM band).
(+)You can send MMS and SMS messages without a problem though phone does not take pictures.
(+)Fantastic no scratch LCD screen. Very sharp and colors are bright and vibrant under most light conditions. No scratch is essential for a non fliptop phone.
(+)Keys light up when phone rings making it easy to find in the dark.
(+) Very cool flashing light indicator that flash red(or green) when you have a new text message or voice mail.
(+) Durable! I have dropped this phone on the pavement many times, voice quality, signal everything has held nice.
(+) OK battery life ... about 3-4 hours talk time, 7 days standyby before batteries drain.
(+) Very good reception -- and no anntena to boot
(+) Very stylish looking... looks better on you than in pictures actually.
(+) Very light and small.
(+) Polyphonic Ringtones.
BUT ...
(-) Phone slips easily out your hand ... or from your pocket onto the floor.
(-) Vibrate could be stronger.
(-) Crappy Ringtones out the box, Luckly you get the TMobile ringtone as a default because the rest just takes up space on the phone. You can download cool ones via the site -- including the Mega Tones that have words and melody.
(-) Vibrate + Melody not as neat as could be. It Vibrates twice and then the volume on your selected melody goes up so slowly that you end up missing the call because you couldnt get it out your pocket in time.
(-) Slow menus -- deleting Text messages can be a slow and painful process.
For the amount of money paid I feel like I got the better end of the deal. I love this phone -- it serves it's purpose which is to keep me in contact with people constantly and help organise my life just a little with its calendar and alarm. I can't comment about web features since I opted out of getting this option on my plan.
6 an excellent phone
I have used this phone (x105) about a year. I am very pleased with its quality and a long talk-time. The phone was amusing especially when I updated sounds and wallpapers with a data cable. Too bad, it is discontinued.
7 Eh, it's okay.
I've had this phone for about 5 months now. Compared to my other phones, this one ranks slightly behind (the last one I owned was the Nokia 3390). Here are the thinks I love:
1) I like that this phone has colorful wallpapers and graphics.
2) Good battery life. I only charge it every 3-4 days.
3) The service light is a nice feature too. It blinks in a different to let you know you have a voicemail or text message.
4) Great reception.
However, there are a quite a few things I am unhappy about with the phone:
1) It's slooooow. T-zones take forever to access. Text messages take a while to delete.
2) Polyphonic ring tones sound cute but often blend in with background noise (I miss twice as many calls with this phone than with my last).
3) Vibration feature is so weak, I rarely feel it (this contributes to missed calls as well).
4) Simple tasks can be a hassle sometimes. A) The process for making a call should be this: phonebook, scroll to name, call-- not phonebook, scroll, view phone number, then call. I know it's one more step, but its one more step that's dispensable. B) Assigning ring tones to individuals-- you have to go through a needless process just to have the t-jingle ring when Billy Bob calls.
All in all, it's a decent phone but I don't plan on keeping it for long. I'm definitely keeping my eyes open for a better one.
8 good phone good service but i'v already figured it out
good phone for kids but not a so many features , it's ok
9 Great phone!!
The X105 offers great phone quality - many people have commented on how clear I sound. If you use your cell for mostly talking and the phone book options, then you will like this phone. The keypad has a little bit of a delay but it's not a big deal. You can also enter your phone book online and it sends it you - cool!
10 Small and sleek but slow
This was my first cell phone which I have had for approx. 3 months. It's tiny (too tiny in my opinion) and lightweight (easy to drop, I have twice).
PROS-
good graphics
comes with great ringtones!
4 games
AIM service
easy to turn on/off locking keys and silent mode
CONS-
bad wallpapers
slips out of your hands easily
so small that people said they had trouble hearing me
screen constantly gets messy
slow working (software sometimes gets backed up)
no changeable faceplates
phonebook and AIM service must "initialize" when phone is turned on and takes quite a while
little "confirmation" messages don't let you move on for 5 seconds or so
This phone is fine if you need it simply to make calls, otherwise the ringtones are about the only good thing on it.
11 Great Phone! (although missing a few vitals)
I have been using this phone for a little over 6 months, and so far, it has been proven a GREAT phone to me. Durable, lightweight, small enough to fit in my pocket, the battery life is amazing! Not to mention, the price is spectacular.
A few negatives are the fact that I am on the road constantly, and on my previous phones, I have used the voice dialing feature almost every time I make a phone call to either home, work, friend, etc. This phone does not have this feature. Another minor complaint is that this phone's voice memo is a lot shorter than many other phones, but then again, who uses the voice memo? Some of my friends complained about the non-existent IR (infrared) port, which I do not care much about.
The other small nagging thing is that the phone book takes about 2 - 3 minutes to load up once you turn your phone on, but since I keep my phone on 24/7, this does not prove to be too much of a hassle.
Moreover, this is a great phone. At this price, the color screen is a plus, as well as mentioned above, the durability and the battery life of this phone. I keep my phone on 24/7, while constantly using it, and I charge it every 2 - 3 days, and while on light use, every 3 - 4 days.
If you're not looking for a heavy-featured phone, this is the one for you.
12 Great phone
Not that I have much experience with cell phones, but this is a great phone for somebody who doesn't need all of the glamorous extras that most phones offer. However, some of the neat things that this phone does offer would be four pre-programmed games (and many more downloadable games for as low as 3.99), many pre-programmed rings (and again, tons of megatone rings from hit songs to choose from for .99 cents a ring), and neat wallpapers (and if you don't like the ones that are pre-loaded, download your own!). The sound is great, it has great reception, and many customizable settings to make it truly your own.
13 horrible reception
I purchased this phone from t-mobile with a new plan, and I hate this phone. The reception is horrible. I can't hear the other party, the buttons stick constantly. T-mobile has replaced this brand new phone two times already, and am about to go for a third. I DO NOT recommend this phone to anyone!
14 Awesome!!!
I recently got this phone and I love it!!! The color is really amazing and the phone is so cute. At first the buttons are a little hard to press but in less than a day I got the hang of it. You can download ringtones and games at tmobile.com and you can't download wallpapers there but at samsung.com at the fun club you can! I only have 1 small dislike about the phone...when you first turn it on it takes about 30 seconds to load the phone book and text messaging before you can use it---it doesn't bother me though. The phone is well worth it!
15 cute and functional
The phone is very light weight, small & has no external antenna. Hence it can easily fit in any pocket, without the fear of damaging the antenna. Also, the phone looks much better than what you see in the pictures.
The reception quality and battery life are excellent.
Cons- Navigation is not very intutive and user friendly. Ring volume is low.
16 Great at night
I've had the phone for about 3 months now. It's exceedingly well built. The battery life is very good. The phone is put together like a German sedan. The voice volume is great and easily adjustable while one is talking. I do get a low-volume hiss in the background of all calls when connected. I didn't have this with my other phone on the same plan. I agree with the other reviewers about the long delay when going through the menu. The keypad is small and the keys are close together so you have to be careful when dialing. I don't text message much but this could be a problem with large hands.
The screen is colorful if you are into that sort of thing but the trade-off is that if you are outside in the sun, the screen is impossible to read. My last phone was black and white and that could easily be read outside in the full sun. Why would anyone want a color screen if you can't read it outdoors? Who cares about seeing some tropical fish floating across the screen if you can't even read a phone number? Unfortunately it seems like the engineers are designing phones for teenagers. Another extremely irritating feature is the ring tones. There are no normal ring tones (beeps, rings, etc.). The only choices are songs. I don't want a song. I was told that I could download a different ring tone for a couple of bucks from the web site but guess what, although I could get all the Brittany and 50 Cent songs I want, there are no rings on line either. This must be some sort of joke that T-Mobile and Samsung are playing on us. It's embarrassing to have a phone play the "Cat Rumba" in a work environment.
17 Great phone!
Overall, I'm very happy with this phone. It's small and lightweight, easy to use, and the color screen is very vibrant. There are a couple of things I don't like, and the biggest thing is the fact that it takes about a minute after the phone is turned on for the phone book to initialize, which means you can't access your phone book AT ALL during that time. Also, it would be nice if the phone came in colors other than blue. I ordered a pink faceplaye off of e-bay, but it looks like it's going to be a real pain to install it.
18 Great small phone!
I needed a small tiny phone that is easy to carry around and this fits my requirements just right!
The reception is also wonderful and several times better than my older phone. I used to have a TMobile Sidekick and that was just a huge brick. Furthermore, reception on that brick was typically horrible.
The screen on this tiny phone is big and marvelous. I really like the fact that each function page has an animated graphics.
And since I will be using this phone oversea, I will also be able to use it while traveling. With TMobile's flexibility to unlock the phone so I could use other SIM, this is really a great feature.
The only negatives that I have, which lead to the 4-star only rating, is that the battery life is just a little less than advertised. Also there's no profile feature like the Nokia phones.
Overall, I am extremely happy with this phone.
19 I wish I never bought this phone
I bought this phone because I wanted something different from the Nokia. I guess I should have stuck with what I knew best because this phone sucks. I through to any phone calls, I call someone and before there phone rings, my phone hangs up. I call up T-Mobile to complain and all they tell me is they can give me another one...NO THANKS!!! I'll go back to the Nokia phone, no more Samsung phone products for me.
20 Worthy Successor to R225
As the earpiece jack was becoming unreliable and the battery was beginning to go, it was time to replace my R225, which had been pretty satisfactory.
My expectations of a cell phone are modest. I want it to be a reliable cell phone with a clear connection, not a web browser. The X105 is a good upgrade which also allows me to continue to use the same leather case and car and travel chargers as the R225.
Two clear advantages are the battery life, which is much better, and the absence of an external antenna.
As has been observed by others, the phone book takes an unconscionably long time to initialize (a minute or two - much longer than the R225, which took about 15 seconds), and the screen is difficult to read when not illuminated (and in bright light). I've also had to adjust to punching the send button twice to initiate a call from a phonebook entry.
In general, I must say that I am impressed with Samsung quality, and I took the opportunity (as long as I had to extend my contract for a year) to upgrade my plan. I now have free nights in addition to weekends and 1,000 prime time minutes for $39.99.
21 t-mobile- a company you want to associate with???
seems like a great phone. Too bad I never got to use it. i had wanted to port my number over from AT&T, so I went first to the t-mobile website to check if that would be possible. You see, they have this great system where you can enter in your number and then they check for you and email you back promptly the next day to tell you if it's possible. They quickly told me that I could port my number and then... much to my surprise, when I went ahead to start the porcess I was told, no, your number won't port after all. Then when I complained, I was told by t-mobile that their number porting website check isn't always accurate and that they can't be held responsible for the content on THEIR OWN WEBSITE!!! nice company. I guess I'll go back to AT&T, WHatever their faults, at least they never lied to me.
22 Games: Caution
I was relaxing in the restroom this morning in one of the stalls and remembered that I had my new cell phone (X105) and it had games on it. I had previously turned the sound off so I thought I could play a stealth round of Ultimate Golf Challenge in the stall before returning to my desk. When I pushed the button to start the game, the theme song started playing really loud, for all of my co-workers using the facilities to hear. I guess the songs to the games play even when the sound is turned off for the phone keypad. So before you buy a new Samsung cell phone, be forewarned that your ability to play the games may be limited.
23 could use work, still great
I don't understand the recent fascination with flip phones. I prefer standard cell phones like Nokias. Thanks to Sam Sung, I found a good quality phone I can definitely rely on! I am a Korean myself so you may think my review is biased. Think again! The phone should not be distributed by T-Mobile. T-Mobile is infamous for having bad reception in different areas. I can clearly see the reception difference with my previous provider (Verizon) and T-Mobile. T-Mobile has these tendecies to fluctuate. Verizon did not have that. As a result, the phone seems to have bad reception. It's not the phones fault. It's T-Mobiles. The phone doesnt drain battery trying to get a signal. I find that VERRRRRY nice. My previous phone used massive amount s of battery life to obtain the full bar reception.
I left my Samsung X105 on for 3 days and it had full battery. I read previous reviews and I agree with many of them. It is tedious to see your incoming/outgoing/missed calls. Takes about 5 buttons to push when it SHOULD be done in about 2 or 3. In addition, everytime you change a setting you get this annoying pop-up screen like you do on the internet. The screen is very clear in my opinion. It is difficult to see in the day, but you adjust to it. The phone is bright and luminous (better than my reading lamp).
Another bad quality to the phone is checking your voicemail. It does not require a password. I just had my phone stolen recently and the voicemail settings were changed instantly. Your phone calls itself basically and the menu for voicemail automatically comes out. Very risky move. Besides the fews cons I mentioned, the phone is great. If theres reception problems or mic problems..it's T-Mobile.
24 T-Mobile droped calls!! Numbers too small!
Ok,
When I got the phone I liked it beacause of the small size and neat look, after having this phone for only UNDER 2 weeks, I have been very unpleased with the service and phone, right now we (me and t mobile) havent been able to figure out if its the phone thats droping my call or the towers. When someone is calling me the phone will SOMETIMES go to a busy single or stright to voice mail. Then I get a message saying " network bisy " I woukd deffently go with a Nokia 3595 or something other this is phone.
25 great phone
I am very pleased with this phone. Really Small, cool looking, color screen, good speaker volume, etc.
It is very easy to navigate through the menus, and reception is pretty good.
If you have trouble dialing numbers after a few days, then your fingers might be too fat. While it is true that button are a little small, it took me about two days to get used to them and find out the best way to push them without getting it wrong.
In summary, really cute phone which has been great so far. I highly recommend it. And you can even make money when you order it (signing a one year contract, of course)
26 Great Basic Phone
Has great voice quality. Doesn't drop calls. Fairly good battery life. Intuitive menu system and buttons. Buttons a bit on the smaller side.
Display is quite sharp, but (like most color screens) fads in bright sunlight.
Also very satisfied with T-Mobile - just renewed my contract with them. Service through them (and their partners) was easily available in many parts of the country (and a few foreign countries including England and Hong Kong) without a hitch - you just need to ask customer service to 'enable' international service (costly though - you pay for the convenience - but this is common to all carriers). Most impressive, never been on hold for more then a few minutes when calling customer service.
Reccoment both the service and the phone.
27 Off The Hook
To put it succinctly, the Samsung X105 is excellent/off the hook. Not only is it compact and extraordinarily light, but it also has a very respectable battery life. As well, its color screen is vibrant and fairly big (considering the phone's size). I recommend it categorically. In other words, it's phat/dope.
28 fun phone!
well for me, this phone is fun, it has AIM (built in.) the tones are really cool and the games are ok, i gave the phone 4 stars outta 5. i seen a phone like this. SGH x600, its not around u.s.a, but i hope it will cuz it has a camera :) but anyways, this phone is way fun, BTW u can hear the IM sound that sounds like from your PC *bling* ;)
29 Slick, small, easy-to-use and reliable phone!
Overall I'm very satisfied with this phone and the service in my area. This phone is very compact and light. The screen has a very neat resolution. I found this phone very easy to use and intuitive. The speaker can be quite loud if necessary and the microphone seems to work well (at least I haven't had any complaints on the other end of the call).
It comes with vibrating alert and silence mode (though I guess this is pretty standard in most phones nowadays) and other standard neat features: ring tones, WAP browser, Java games, AOL messenger capabilities.
The best above all is that you can get this $150 retail value phone for FREE when signing for a year contract (at the time of this writing).
There are only a few complaints I have about this phone: there are confirmation messages after applying some of the phone features which block the phone for about 3-5 seconds, e.g. "Keypad Active" after unlocking the keypad. Additionally when the phone is turned on, it takes about a minute to initialize the phone book, so you can't access your phone list to dial a number during this time.
Having owned a Motorola in the past, I was used to have the send button on the right side of the phone, this phone buttons are positioned the other way around, so it took me a while to get used to it, although I'm not sure which layout is more standard nowadays.
In terms of battery life, I find it reasonable, although I've experienced slightly shorter life than the one it claims to have.
In terms of accessories the phone only comes with the standard wall charger and a hands free headset which also has good audio quality. I recommend getting the leather case from Samsung (you can get a 20% discount if you register your phone with them).
30 Cute & Handy
I love the Samsung X 105 Phone. I am using it for the last one month. I love it. It is cute and handy. The blue color is lovely. The settings are easy and user friendly. It is a nice phone and liked by my wife too.
31 Great Phone
This phone is great, with only a few minor flaws. The only flaws i found were: battery runs out a little too fast, and that once in a while, i get pretty bad connection, other than that, this is a great phone.
The best feature about this phone is that it is color screen, and cheap with all of the rebates amazon.com has to offer. Great value. The menues are very easy to go throug, and clear to see. This phone is more than sturdy, its almost indistructable. I've dropped it about six times, and all i got was a few scratches...and the werent't on the screen.
95% of the time, I get crystal clear connection, and the other 5% i can barely hear a thing. 5% tho, no big deal.
So, if you are planning to get a T-Mobile compatable phone, get this, or the Samsung E105. Personally, I like the E105 more, but this is still top notch, and second best.
Overall, this phone deserves about 41/2 stars, but since you can only give stars in whole numbers, so I gave it a four. Hope this review helped
-Justin
32 Great little phone
It's very light, it's very loud if you need it to be (it does have the vibrate option as well), it has all the functions you'd ever want, most of the menu items have number shortcuts so you dont always have to scroll through. the only drawback i'd found is that it doesnt have an option of re-dial, but i'm not particularly overwrought about that. I got the phone for free when i signed up for T-mobile and so far the reception had been great pretty much everywhere i'd been.
33 Does exactly what is supposed to do
I made a mistake initally bu buying a Sony/Ericcson T616 from AT&T, it was returned 2 days later due to horrible reception in NYC. I bought the X105 from T-Mobile and have no complaints. No dropped calls, clear reception in buildings. The phone is feather light, has great battery time and does what a phone is supposed to do-MAKE CALLS!. My only complaint is that when the keypad is locked, it is sometimes difficult to unlock as the screen is almost completely dimmed.
34 Works great does every thing they claim.
Likes: This is a good phone clear delivery and reception.
Nice style and good screen color.
Good tones and easy to work.
Dislike: Only one minor thing you must wait 1.5 minutes
for phone book to initilize when you first turn the unit on.
35 Nice Phone IF it would only connect!
I liked the phone, other than it would NOT connect in a two block area where I work. It connected in other locations. I thought maybe it was a bad phone, but a co-worker had the exact same phone and same poor connections. The phone showed full signal strength, but when a call rang in, as soon as I pushed the button to connect, it did not work. Also, calling out did not work about 75% of the time and connections were barely audible in this two block area. T-mobile technicians checked out the area and found "no problem" in the area. Both phones from me and the co-worker went back and I got a sony ericsson T610 which connected with no problems. I thought maybe it was just a T-mobile problem, but others in my area can connect with other phones, same provider, no problem.
36 Constant Change
I recently had a NOKIA 6610 and couldn't find a replacement handsfree earpiece as NOKIA had decided to change to some proprietary earpiece connection. So, I dumped that phone and got the Samsung X105 since it said it used the 2.5 headset connection. Well, it seems that Samsung has decided to mess with their connection as well because the 2.5 plug is a Samsung proprietary plug. Can't these phone manufacturers just leave this stuff alone so we can buy a decent aftermarked replacement?
I guess not. Other than that...I think the phone is just okay.
37 x105
do not buy this phone the keys stick and the ear pice gets hot after 10 min get the t610 instead or the e105 or the v205
38 Good solid phone, could use some user interface improvements
First, the important stuff: This is a good quality phone, with good reception, solidly built, and, AFAICT great battery life. It's compact and light and has a nice look and feel.
The color LCD is nifty, but very difficult to see outdoors.
There are 2 'menu style' options for the UI. The default 'Page Style' is toyish and I found it annoying. I found 'Bar Style' more tolerable and easier to read. The wallpaper animations are annoying. Still, it's not that bad and the phone is generally pleasant to use, save 2 annoyances:
1) It's not easy enough to scroll through past calls -- you need to go to the Menu, then select Missed, Incoming, or Outgoing Calls. I find the segregation needless and miss my old Qualcomm that had a scrollwheel dedicated to scrolling phone numbers, no buttons or menus necessary.
2) Every time you get a voice mail message, you also get a text message telling you you have a voice mail message. This is unnecessary and annoying -- although I suppose this is the fault of T-Mobile, not the phone. It does however take 6 clicks (of the same button at least) to delete these text messages, and the 'you have mail icon' doesn't go away until you listen to your message and clear the text notification.
39 Very Clean Phone
A nice basic phone, color with ringtones, and games, and everything else one could want in a phone bar a camera or bluetooth. The phone's contact manager isn't great though, and it is too new enough for there to be much online support, but almost every ringtone or java game comaptible with the S105 will work fine with this phone.
Oh and for the love of your ears turn down the ringer, it could wake the dead, even if they were wearing earplugs on its defualt level. As for the default ringers they are very, umm distinctive, not certain I like them, but you'll never need worry about whther or not the ringing phone is yours. If you don't like them you can always download more I suppose
