Samsung YP-T5V MP3 Player

Compras Nikon
Bluetooth
World's smallest portable digital audio player with 3-line LCD and FM tuner. Upgradeable Firmware...
1 Good mini MP3
I bought this unit as a pocket MP3 player + FM tuner. It is a solid unit ... I sent it through the washing machine with no ill effects.

Excellent sound. Only issue I have is battery life is < 10 hours on a new alkaline battery.
2 Good starter mp3 player
This is my first mp3 player. I have seen and used other ones but this one is by far the best for its sise. I am going to review it in the following catigorys.

Durability: I have had this thing for 9 months, and I use this thing abusevly. Some times after droping it from about three feet/meter some of the songs begin to skip. But this can be solved by deleting the song and then resync the song back to the yepp.

Buttons: You have to be pretty thick to not understand how the butons work. There is a joystick on the front which skips songs and changes volume. On the top there is a hold button, this makes it to where even if you press alot of buttons it will still be playing the same song. Play/Pause Button, nothing complicated here. A-B button, this is one of the wierdest things I've seen. What it does is while a song is playing you press A once, then after any time you want press B once, then you will only hear the song between point A to point B, you press the A-B button to get it back to normal. And a record buton. Press it once to record, press it again to stop.

Software: I use my player by riping CD's and playing them on my yepp, I never download music. So after about an hour of tring to use the yepp software I gave up. Lucky for me the yepp works on WMP 9 and WMP 10, so it wasnt much of a problem after that. For using it on Windows Media I have encounterd no problems at all.

Song Playback: The sound quality is average. But you realy cant complain when your mp3 player can be used as a keychain. The only complaint I have with it is you can't put your songs in any order. And I dont think any thing you do can change that. You can however number your songs to the order you want. As for the display the only problem I have with that is the three bar batery display. When its on the last bar you don't know if you have 3 min. or 3 hours.

Overal: I highly recomend this mp3 player. I do not recomend it if you have over a gig of songs however.

3 Teenie Tiny and Very Simple to Use
The size of the player is absolutely miniscule. It's like a short lighter and a bit fatter. Putting songs onto the device is very simple. You can literally drag the files from your computer onto the "Removable Storage" icon that pops up in My Computer when you plug the player in via the USB port.

The sound quality depends on what bit-rate you use for the music, but it's capable of great sound and even has different types of sound options if you like a certain type of sound (base, normal, vocal, etc.).

The only drawback is (as others have mentioned) that the player automatically plays the songs in alpha order. Since you can't really put too many songs on here anyway, I've gotten around it by just naming the songs "01 - Singer - Song Title" after I've dragged them onto the player. They'll play in number order then. Bit of a pain, but minor since you won't have to do this for 10,000 songs.

I'm very pleased with mine. Easy to use and good sound. Great for exercisers and gym rats who don't want to carry around a gigantic CD player or a heavier MP3 device.
4 A Little Blue Wonder
This is a great little MP3 player to use during a daily commute that's small enough to completely hide in the palm of your hand.

No, it doesn't have the capacity of larger players or the clone-ish panache of the ubiquitous white iPod set but it does an honest job with ease of use and great sound (toss the ear buds that come with the unit and get a pair that sound good to you -- I use a pair of "The Bud" from Koss for great bass response).

Plug the unit into your computer and it shows up as a removable drive. Fill up the drive with MP3 or WMA files (I can fit about 60-70 wma files on the unit) and you're ready to go. The player also has a handy voice recorder for those impromptu sound bytes.

The 5-direction joystick is not hard to master and once your songs are loaded navigating through your music is instinctive. The display is essential to work through the menu trees when you want to adjust the player's audio or display settings.

The removable AAA battery means you'll never have to run out of juice when in the middle of your commute. Just pop in that spare battery carried along for just these types of emergencies and you're back online in less than a minute.

This player is not for audiophiles or for those with 30,000 song libraries, and it doesn't pretend to be, but for those who want a simple well built MP3 player with great sound quality.
5 Great Player, but...
Great player, but...HOW DO YOU GET THE SONGS IN ANY ORDER YOU WANT??? I EVEN TRIED SEPARATE FOLDERS INSTEAD OF ONE BIG PLAYLIST AND IT STILL DOESN'T WORK. I MEAN I COULD OBVIOUSLY NUMBER THEM ALL ONCE I HAVE THEM IN ORDER, BUT THERE SHOULD BE ANOTHER WAY. Aside from this, everything else is great. Real easy to use, great sound, super g-damn small!!!

If anyone has figured out how to get songs out of alphabetical order, let me know by a review on this site or emailing me at DavidMDiggler@aol.com

Thanks.
6 Excellent choice!
Pretty nice little unit. Holds about 5 CDs worth of stuff at 128 mbs and sounds great. Small enough to fit inside a shot glass and has a really nice clear radio tuner as well.

It connects using the same USB cable as my digital cam (which is handy) and songs/albums load in sections just by dragging and dropping in Windows Explorer. That way I can change the playlist daily if I wanted to in just a minute or so.

The 5 CD limit may seem like a limitation, but the ease of shuffling the content makes it a non-issue for me. And the size of the unit is perfect for working out, which I've already begun doing with it.

My only concern is long term durability. It seems a little delicate, but then so do all the competing models.
7 This thing eats battries
I bought this MP3 recently ..Although the sound is superb and the design cool when it comes to samsungs claim of "12Hr" battry life you can forget it ..This thig eats AAA battries ..So much so i invested in rechargables .. The Samsung YP-T5V Portable MP3 Player is great to listen to and look at but you will need to arrange a mortage or open a nuclear power station to keep this thing provided with energy

8 worth buying MP3 player
This is my first mp3 player, other than the good points told by others, there is something I like better, this gadget plays songs continuously even if I off it and on it a couple of hours later, so I don't have to go thru all the songs which I listened before. Great sound, great features for the good price.
But...I had problem upgrading the firmware to the latest, almost driving my Yeppy to death, driver's gone, couldn't even power up, for a minute I was thinking of returning this to Amazon.com.Luckily after I re-install the driver, it works again. This time, the firmware upgrading was a success.Anyway,it could be the mistake I made when I tried to upgrade the firmware. Anyway, it's all behind me now.
other than this problem, I would say this is a really good 5 ***** mp3 player no matter what people says..( for that kind of money, what do you expect?).
To me, what matter the most are, the features ( plays songs,FM radio, and audio recording.) and its actual size( 2/3 of the size of a lipstick).
Seriously, While you're trying to abandon the bulky CD player, why get another bulky MP3 player?
9 Best Sound Quality
I originally bought the MOJO TDK 256 MB Player, but I had to return it b/c it wasn't fully compatible with Windows Media Player 10 and the sound didn't sound quite right.

I immediately noticed the difference with the Samsung. Compared to the MOJO TDK, the joystick interface on the Samsung is really intuitive. It's really easy to move your music files since the YEP works as a mass storage device. It's also integrated with Windows Media Player 10 so you can create playlists on WMP 10 and sync it to the YEP.

Since the YEP has SRS/WOW, the sound is fantastic compared to the MOJO TDK. The BASS and surround sound effects are fabuluous. The backlit display can be customized to several different colors.

If you're looking for a small MP3 player that you can carry around effortlessly with awesome sound, this is the player for you!
10 The Best Bang for the Buck
Pros: compact size, light weight, great sound, price, long battery power
Cons: flimsy USB cover, no armband, confusing software

This is my second MP3 player, and I have used YP-T5V for a short time but I am very satisfied with it. The sound quality is excellent, and it has been very convenient to carry it around while I'm lifting weights. Unlike my older MP3 player, it did not freeze or lock-up. It is so small and light that it fits anywhere. The radio works perfectly, and I have used the Yepp to record lectures and as storage device to store document files. Its programmed equalizer features are great, especially "WOW." Earphones were better than I expected. I like the fancy changing of LCD colors also. I was debating between this and iRiver iFP-790, which has very similar features but a little bigger and pricier. When I got a $30 off coupon from Staples, I had to get this Samsung one. $120 for a 256MB MP3 player cannot be turned down, you know? It is amazing how Samsung could put so many features into this little gadget. Samsung has lived up to its reputation as the most profitable electronic company in the world.

11 Simple yet effective. No Mac compatibility.
This is a great simple mp3 player. It does what it says and does it pretty well. However, it is not seen as a hot pluggable flash drive and requires Samsung's proprietary software.

As such, it does not work on the Mac or Linux. In order to use it, I have to fire up my PC, copy mp3's from my Mac to my PC, and then to the Yepp. Samsung has also recently dropped support for their printers on Mac, too. Sad, because they make some great products.
12 More Than Just an MP3 player
Lest you think that you have just another mp3 player, look into the possibilities. This unit can also be used as a data transfer medium as well. I, just to see if it could be done, wrote some jpegs into the memory and then looked at them with Windows Explorer. That said, it does function well as a mp3 encoder from an external audio source. It also records voice from the internal microphone and does it well also. An earlier review claimed that the software was difficult to use. It isn't all that easy, but then who really needs it? Drag and drop works just fine. The sound, even to one with moderate hearing limitations, is great. If it wasn't capable of excellent treble, I would find it too muddy to listen to. All in all I give this little mp3 player (and size was one of the things that got my attention right away) 5 stars! Good buy, I highly recommend it!

13 Cool Mini Mp3
Since I used everyone else's reviews to choose my MP3, I should write my own review now that I have it. I could not decide between this unit and the I-River models, but now that I have it I think I made a good choice. Since everyone wants to know the bad side of the products, here are my only gripes.

The cover for the USB cable will probably break off, and it is not doesn't open while in the case, so you have to take it out of the case and fumble with the cover to connect to the PC

Being so small it can be hard to fumble with the buttons while on the move.

The plastic case itself is difficult to put on and off and will probably break.

The little earbud headphones sound pretty good for a throw-in pair, but there is enough cord to jump rope with, which will be awkward to jog with. I will probably buy another set instead.

I like the neck strap, it is higher quality than I was expecting, but I still would preffer an armband for jogging.

The software is very foreign and difficult, even the english / grammer has errors in several cases, but now that I found that you can just drag and drop in windows explorer, I will probably just not use the software.

So all in all this is a fun high quality gadget with some cheap accessories that bring the rating down a notch, I cant say anything about how it holds up since I just got it three days ago, but it does not seem too fragile.
14 awesome mp3 player!!!!!!!!!
this mp3 player is great it's small enough to hold in the palm of your hand but not so small that you can't use the buttons. it's easy to put songs from your computer on it and the sound is fantastic. it doesn't hold is many songs as i thought it would but it holds plenty. i def. think that this is one of the best buys for your money if you are looking for a good mp3 player!!
15 Wow.
Samsung makes a great mp3 player. This tiny thing has so much in it. The sound is out of this world! A great deal!!
16 best MP3 player, but for one fault
This is the only one of four MP3 players i tried that had acceptable sound quality. All the others; Rio, RCA, Nike had a strange high pitched noise no matter what the source of the audio files. The Yepp does not, and the WOW sound is really quite good. The only problem is that no matter how you put songs into thae player, it plays them back in alphabetical order. This drove me crazy. The only solution to this is to put each album(or collection of songs) in its own folder and copy them using windows explorer. Then each folders songs are in order. other than that problem this is the best MP3 player you can get for the money.
