SanDisk offers ImageMate parallel port external drive. ImageMate easily connects to your printer port and sits on your desk, acting like a removable disk drive, treating the CompactFlash card like a diskette. ImageMate simply connects to your printer port with a printer pass through connector to keep your printer online.

I'm running NT 4.0 at home (which doesn't support USB ports) so
most of the compact flash card readers aren't compatible. The ImageMate was the best reviewed candidate, BUT IT'S NOW DISCONTINUED! I've tried everywhere. In it's place, I got the Microtech Parallel CameraMate... and it works AWESOME!

My PC is 10 years old and has gone through three upgrades. I have a mix of IDE and SCSI ports connecting to a printer, scanner, pda docking station, and zip disk, and a wireless LAN antenna. In other words, my PC is a custom configured madhouse. I was very skeptical that I'd be able to hook up a reader and have it work. The Microtech worked perfectly the first time. That was a month ago and still no problems.

If you can find the ImageMate, get it. If not, get the Microtech.

Help fight continental drift.

My geometry teacher was sometimes acute, and sometimes obtuse, but always,
always, he was right.
[That's an interesting angle. I wonder if there are any parallels?]
