SanDisk SDCZ2-128-768 128 MB Cruzer Mini USB 2.0 Flash Drive

Compras Nikon
Bluetooth
Cruzer Mini is Hi-speed USB 2.0 certified for fast data transfer (also compatible with USB 1.1).
1 Very useful tool.
This is a great little device when you need to transfer files between computers and a network is not available. I have used it on Windows 2000 Pro laptops and Windows XP desktops and laptops with out a hitch. I have been using the Mini for about four months now and have had no problems. Just make sure to use the "Unplug or Eject Hardware" wizard before you take it out. Works great for text documents but if you want to put music or video files on it you will definitely need a bigger size.
2 An absolutely marvelous product.
I've used my 128 MB Cruzer for several months now, with absolutely no problems. It looks great and works great. Well worth the purchase price. Once you start using a flash drive to backup your important files or photos, you then wonder how you ever survived without one!
3 No problems. Very Satisfied.
I have had no problems with my Mini Cruzer USB flash drive. It has been recognized without exception by multiple computers and has performed flawlessly.
4 Works like a charm!
I mainly use this to back up my accounting system, and so far, I've had no problems with it at all. My Windows XP system installed it immediately, and I was using it within the next 2 or so minutes. It's lightweight, comes with a neck cord and 3 different color caps (light blue, light pink and clear) to protect the USB connector. It's just big enough to not easily lose and small enough to carry around conveniently.

I would recommend this to anyone who needs extra storage. The price is right and the storage space is just right.
5 Good Ratings Suprise Me...3 Uses Then Failure
After buying the 128MB Cruzer Mini for use with a new PC that has USB2 ports, I used the Cruzer perhaps 3-4 times for moving files to and from my computer at work. Recently, I plugged it into my new PC and found it was reported as unreadable. Moving to two other Windows XP PCs, the same was true. This was enough to convince me the Cruzer was bad, so I exchanged it for another where I bought it at Best Buy. The new unit immediately was reported as unreadable. Given the good reviews here, I can only believe there must be some peculiar Windows XP problem with this particular USB key, or perhaps a combination of factors...USB 2.0, WinXP with SP1 installed, etc. Efforts to get the Cruzer to work have failed but have identified what seem permanent enumeration entries in the Windows registry. I've removed all USB devices including all host controllers, etc. in Device Manager, rebooted to safe mode, and tried again to delete the Sandisk registry entries with still no success. There are no hidden devices I've overlooked...it just simply appears that use of the Cruzer has created these fixed registry entries; I'm inclined to think they may be the source of the problem, but why does the Cruzer fail on 3 totally unique PCs, albeit all with WinXP/SP1? I've seen similar comments regarding Lexar USB keys; maybe they share a common memory or harware design with the Sandisk? All I can say is stay away from them if you don't want to be left with useless junk after a short time. While I recommend Amazon for their great prices and service, if you should buy the Cruzer Mini, I suggest doing so where you can conveniently and quickly exchange it, should yours also fail.
6 Great while it works
I used my Mini Cruzer for both work and school, and I used it on a daily basis. It was fast, small, and very convenient.

However, you might notice that I am writing in the past tense, because my cruzer just died on me the past week after after five months of use. Of course, it is still under warranty and I will be sending it back to Sandisk this week, but I lost a TON of data that I was not able to recover. I normally keep a back-up, but when the memory stick dies before you are able to back-up your data, life can get pretty bad.

Make sure to keep good back-ups!! Do NOT rely on this or any other memory stick to be fail proof.

7 Cruzer Mini Rocks!!
I Just bought these memory flash, and i only have to said: Is off the hook!. The best of all, it have 2 spare parts tops of colors, so you don`t have to worry about lost one of them.
8 takes major abuse!
I had left my Cruzer Mini in my pants pocket and it went through the washer and dryer. It still works! Really!!
9 works all right
not backwards compatible with usb 1.1 ports on older mac keyboards, but works great with usb 2.0

immediately detected by my computer

have to "eject" it on the mac, can't just pull it out from the usb port without warning

very easy to use (even Forrest Gump could figure out that all you have to do is drag folders into the FlashDrive window to save)

comes with string to hold flashdrive, but it breaks off easily

comes with three protective covers for USB drive portion

10 wash and wear? no kidding.
my cruiser just went through a full wash cycle, followed by 30 minutes in the dryer.

i plugged it in and it works! no kidding.

11 Sturdy and fast
It is great being able to put a 128 Meg in my shirt pocket. No more bulky zip drive.

The USB2 connection whizzes by at 9 Meg/sec, rated by a program deisgned to measure the speed.

What I like best is the studriness - I probably do not want to admit to it but I left it in my shirt [accidentally] and ran it though the washer and dryer [twice.] It survivded that without any problems. I use it at work every day, transferring files from my system to others without fail.

12 does not work
Windows XP recognises it as ADIR ROM. Doesn't work. I have Gigabyte 7VAX motherboard. Every driver update installed.
13 What a great little drive...
After using other companies flash memory drives, I realized most had a design flaw: you couldnt insert it into a USB port b/c it was to big or wide. The SanDisk flash drive, however it very small and will fit in to any USB port, even if neighboring USB ports are occupied. I have used it in a number of computers and once you plug it in, Windows recognizes it in a matter of seconds. I would highly recommend this product.
14 Worked Out of the Box For Me
Opened the box, put it into my Win2K laptop, installed in couple of minutes and started to show up as a removable drive. No formatting, nothing extra to install and no it does not get stuck in the usb port or has to be pulled out by pliers.

People are complaining about lack of or detail of instructions provided, all you have to do is put it in the usb port nothing more or less.

15 San Disk 128...Never Leave Home With Out It!
Do I use it everyday...no...but to know I have my most useful files and documents on my keychain is such a comfort and security. I also have those fun pictures to show off when sharing documents on another's desktop.

A dream for transfering too...for my laptop has no burner. Until wireless becomes as common as running water...this little gem will be a daily part of my life.

16 Great product but needs a better 'anchor.'
Love this product, and it works ultra-fast since its solid state (no moving parts). However, I feel for the folks that have lost one because the string/lanyard system that it attaches to is way too delicate. I tested my first one to breaking point and the tiny plastic bridge that is on the side where the fine cord attaches snapped out all to easily. ALWAYS store it in your pocket, briefcase, purse etc.
17 Incompatible with my hardware
I recently purchased this product with the hope of full plug and play capability. I tried it in my new Dell Latitude D600 running windows XP and it would not work, found hardware ADIR ROM. I called the Sandisk helpdesk who said there was a known bug and that I should get my money back. This is the second Sandisk product I have had an issue with, I won't be buying a third. Looks like from the other reviews I was just unlucky but I thought I would warn all the Dell laptop users out there.
18 Great USB jump drive
The cruzer mini isn't actually the smallest jump drive I've seen (I actually have a meritline.com one that's about the same size minus the light) but definately the sturdiest and is actually truely driverless. The slim design, is, of course, very conveient since USB ports usually come in pairs, and bulkier drives basically require 2 usb ports since they block up the adjacent one.

The first usb drive I bought was also advertised as driverless, but in actuality, the computer has to install the drivers on the spot, but that can cause problems if you're using a public computer and can't add new hardware. The cruzer worked seamlessly.

I guess my only real complaint is that the lanyard is attached on the side of the drive (right next to the light) and that it's pretty hard to attach the lanyard.

Oh, and it's too easy to lose!

19 ITS GREAT!!!
I really like this. I have a USB Port in the front of my computer, and its a rather tight space. It fits perfectly!! So easy to use just plug it in and its all ready. I use it just to back up personal files at home. But if I needed to take things to work this would be great to go between computers!!
20 Good, But Easy to Lose
Small, quick, and powerful. But easy to lose. I lost mine this past week.
21 Elegant and Incredibly durable
This usb drive rules. I accidently left the stick with my clothes in the washing machine and it still works afterwards!
22 Love this little guy
I love this little guy, and you will, too! This flash drive has several advantages over the other flash drives.
1. It is slim and small. Do you have two USB ports side by side or one on top of the other? Now look at some of the other flash drives - they are more round in shape, or thicker, or otherwise bulkier. This is one of the smallest flash drives on the market, which means you won't have to unplug your mouse to use it! About the size of a pack of Juicy Fruit!
2. It is made by a company known for making storage media. Others may be cheaper, but I wouldn't buy a flash drive from a company which makes phones (for example) unless it was free or almost free.
3. It has a green light at the end which flashes during use. Convenient feature so that you don't yank it out while it's being used.
4. It comes with a neck cord and extra caps.
5. Mac and PC compatible. And I'm not just saying that because the package says it - I've actually used it on my Mac and my PC. Just remember to use the "eject" button on the Mac or "safely remove hardware" button on the PC to avoid any complications.

Easy choice!

23 lost it!!!
Since the size is small enough, you can put it on a USB port without an extension cable.
One problem is that I lost mine today. The only thing left around my neck was the lanyard included in the package. Keep yours in a pocket. I'm thinking about buying the same one.
24 nothing fancy - just simple and easy to use
This is a great product, just plug it in and you're ready to go. Compatible with all machines (automatically detected by XP, simple driver installation with 98) and is a much easier way to carry data around than burning CD's or expensive zip disks. It does feel a little fragile but mostly because it weighs almost nothing. The back end lights up when plugged in and flashes when transferring data.
One nice thing about this particular stick is that you can snap the cap on the back end of the stick so you don't misplace it when plugged into the computer. It comes with a lanyard to go around your neck but that seems a little silly to me and I just carry it in my pocket.
Data transfer is extremely fast with usb 2.0, a 5 MB file only takes a couple seconds to transfer.
The sandisk cruzer is also very skinny and unlike some of the larger ones only requires you to have one usb port open. For example, I can have the sandisk in one port on my laptop and an external mouse plugged in the port immediately below it. I've never had a different brand but several look like they would block two usb ports while only actually using one.
25 awesome portability
As others have stated, this little drive is really great. It's fast and convenient. I have one thing to reiterate, one to clarify, and one to suggest.

Reiterate: This thing is plug-and-play on various platforms. I have plugged it in to a bunch of machines. Desktops, laptops, Windows 2000, XP, and even Mac. Every time it has installed itself and been another hard drive within about 30 seconds at worst. USB 2.0 is definitely faster, but it's fine with 1.1.

Clarify: I have plugged this into the backs of machines with pretty tight, recessed USB ports with no problem. Of course having a hub or port on the front of the machine is better, but it's not absolutely necessary.

Suggest: If you want to synchronize your flash drive with a directory on your hard drive, go to Tucows and get an application like SyncBack. I setup a cruzermini folder on my hard drives at home and work and now I synchronize them to my cruzer mini drive. It's really handy. Keeps everything up-to-date.

26 Excellent tool. -- Goodbye floppy disks
This product works just like it says it does. Just insert it into a USB drive for Windows 2000 or XP and the machine adds it like any other drive on your machine. 99% of the advertised space is available and the drive loads very quickly. Transfer speed is super fast on a USB 2.0.

It comes with a lanyard with a clip to remove the drive without taking off the lanyard and a total of three plastic caps (yellow, clear and grayish).

27 Best thing since the wheel...
These little drives are just amazing! No computer user should be without one of these...or a few if need be. I use this to back up Quickbooks files and it is lightning fast...unbelievable and very much appreciated! You can carry this in your pocket, around your neck or in your sock if the data is top-secret.

Worth its' weight in gold!

28 The essential computer user floppy replacement
If you transfer a lot of files between computers than a flash-memory drive is absolutely essential. Students and teacher in particular (or anyone else who needs to transfer a lot of files or make frequent backups) will find these drives absolutely indespensible. Why go through the hassle of burning cds all the time? Why go through the trouble of linking two machines just to transfer a few files? It is quite likely that drives like this one will replace floppies in the very near future. Fast, easy to use, reliable, durable, and infinitely re-writable. What more could anyone ask for? And especially since the price keeps dropping lower and lower...
29 Great transaction And Fast
Great transactions and Fast
30 ScanDisk USB 128
I love this product! It is amazing and perfect for a beginner and if you are cheap like me. It gives you 124 MB not 128. Still it is alot for the cheap price. I highly recommend it to anyone. Nice job ScanDisk.
31 A Must-Have for Laptop Users!!!!
I use my laptop on a daily basis. A Flash Memory Drive makes it very convenient for transferring files from my PC to Laptop and from my Laptop to other Laptops.

- I am using Windows XP which detects the Flash Drive upon Plug-In.
- Be sure to check that your computer/laptop is USB 2.0 compatible. It makes a huge difference in transfer speeds. It is backwards compatible but if your computer does not support USB 2.0 then it may not be worth paying more for a USB 2.0.
- Just remember that after you are done using the flash drive, you have to "remove hardware" by clicking on the icon on the lower right hand side of your desktop. Do this before pulling the Flash Drive out of the USB port.

32 Fine product - minor quibbles
As stated in other reviews - this product works as advertised. I use it to transfer files between a PC and Mac at home, and transfer documents between home and work. It works great, and seems to transfer considerably faster when connected to my USB 2.0 card.

Minor quibbles are that the hard plastic cap has cracked in several places. They do supply three caps in clear, smoke, and day-glo yellow. A polypropylene cap would have been more durable.

The USB connector for the 128 MB version is closer to the side with the "Cruzer" label. It might not fit into some recessed USB ports like you'll find on many PC's. I've purchased the 256 MB version as a gift, and it's half the thickness, and is barely thicker than the width of the connector; the 128 MB version is twice as thick (and a little bit shorter). (As an aside, one USB flash drive that fits well in recessed ports is DiskOnKey - sold under their own brand name as well as Targus GoAnywhere, and FujiFilm.) Amazon was directly selling the 256 MB version of the Cruzer Mini a week before this review at a great price, but it's no longer listed (only third party sellers like Circuit City).

The only problem I had was when about 70 MB of capacity suddenly disappeared, and I had to reformat the drive to restore full capacity. I understand this isn't that unusual with flash devices - especially if they've been disconnected while writing. It didn't lose any information that was already on the drive though.

33 An unportable portable?
I have the 256MB version and it's great. I just have a minor issue with portability. It's small size means you can fit it anywhere, true, but forget about a wristband, keychain, or shirt pocket. For one, the wristband that it comes with is useless unless you love knots. It is merely a piece of string that you have to tie into a knot yourself. There is no keyring and nowhere to clip one onto it. It also doesn't have a clip for, say, a shirt pocket. The cap tends to come off more easily than other products, too.

It's fast, small, durable, and looks good, but if you plan on easily carrying it in your shirt pocket or with your keys, don't get this one.

34 Awesome drive, but poor build quality.
When I say "poor build quality" I don't mean it's falling apart at the seams, I mean that the paint chips off easily and the cap (even though they provide 2 extras) gets loose after a couple days. But the drive itself is great, and while I have qualms about the appearance of the product, the actual construction is solid, and has survived many a trip on to concrete. And the password protected encryption program runs straight from the drive, which is a plus (on some USB Flash drives, you have to install a program onto a computer to get your private files) but... if you use this on a school or office computer at which you lack local administrator privliges, it will not run. But still useful to keep snoops out of personal files. All in all, a great stocking stuffer for the student or geek in your life!
35 One of the best flash drives out there
This is my 3rd flash drive (I also have a 64 MB MicroAdvantage and a 128 MB Kingston), and it is by far the smallest one. It literally is the size of your thumb. I also love the fact that you can attach the cap to the back when it is plugged into the USB port; (the back also shines a cool green light when in use). It does appear to be very fast, but I haven't timed how long it takes to make transfers. It's sleek, stylish, small, and fast. I highly recommend this flash drive by Sandisk. The two extra caps and a neck cord are a nice bonus.
36 Not slow at all...
12.8MB file took 20 seconds to transfer.

33MB Directory with 88 files took 1 minute 55 seconds.

37 SanDisk 128 MB USB 2.0 Flash Memory Drive--Tops!!
I have seen many of these plug and use type sticks....I work for the USA and Government...many collegues have many of these "sticks." Sandisk works very simply and as advertised...plug, computer recognizes the stick as a drive...you simply add documents as needed...it's small, easy to transport and works every time...I've used the stick on three different machines and it accesses via USB port every time. Microsoft XP and 2000 works fine. This is great, easy to use and no major hurdles to get this working!! Best of all it's the best price via Amazon...half the cost of PX or commercial products on the market...plus free Super Saver Shipping and no Tax. I am extremely happy with this and will recommend my staff get their own SanDisk sticks!! Thanks Amazon...that's why I check you first...every time....Q
38 Cruzer is a doozer!
Nothing spectacular - just good, reliable performance in a surprisingly small package! If you need to transport or backup large files (such as audio or graphic files), this will do the job that a floppy disk can't handle. More convenient than burning a CD, assuming you have a CD burner. Installs INSTANTLY on PC's running Windows XP. Needs an easily downloaded driver to work with Windows 98. Oh yeah, you (obviously) must have a USB port, but if your computer doesn't, you need a new computer more than you need this flash drive.
39 A Great USB Flash Drive
Sandisk has produced a wonderful product with its 128mb mini cruzer. Simply plug it into your USB port and it's ready to go - with windows XP there is no software needed. My laptop recognized the device immediately and it could be accessed through XP's "My Computer" as external drive F:. It was as easy as kiss my hand to store text, music, or photo files to it,to retrieve them and to erase them when desired.

The device itself is about a dime's width and 3 dime's length. The body is a smart looking metallic polished silver and when it's plugged in, the back of it lights up green so you know that it is working properly. Comes with 3 different colored caps to protect the USB connection and a neck/wrist strap for convenient carrying.

Easy to use. Fast and efficient as a USB Flash Drive. A well priced wonderful product from Sandisk. I bought one for myself and two as Christmas gifts.

40 beware of slow speed
This thing is ultra small and sleek and cool looking, but it takes an AWFULLY long time to transfer files to it. A 10 mb file takes about 2 minutes. So it'd take a good half hour to actually fill the thing up in one go. that's a pretty big downside if you generally use it to quickly transfer biggish files, that are too big to just email.
