The Sharp 27-C240 27-inch TV has a high-focus, dark-tint picture tube and inputs for DVD players, VCRs, game consoles, or camcorders. Its two-line digital comb filter separates the color signal from the black-and-white signal to reduce noise and artifacts, resulting in higher picture quality. With MTS (multichannel TV sound) stereo and SAP (second audio program), the 27-C240 can receive and decode stereo and SAP wherever they are available.

The EZ Setup feature is activated the first time the television is turned on, and will automatically prompt you to attach the cable or antenna and start the initial channel setup with the touch of just one button. The built-in V-Chip is an electronic blocking device that lets parents control the programming to prevent children from viewing questionable programs. Using the onscreen display and ratings system, you can screen programs according to age and content.

Features include trilingual onscreen menus, color temperature control, sleep timer, and closed captioning. Also included is a direct access remote (2 AAA batteries included).

You get three composite-video inputs: two on the rear and one on the front for convenient hookup to your favorite gaming console or camcorder. The remaining rear composite-video inputs can accommodate any DVD player or video source. There is also a rear S-video input and component-video input.

1 Sharp TVs are awesome
I owned a conventional sharp mono TV for 14 years before it gave up the ghost,so I knew I would buy Sharp again.I also knew I had neither the interest nor the budget for these high-tech HDs and flat screens and all that stuff,so I went conventional again.I am pleased with the purchase,I`ve had the TV for 8 months and its great. The audio quality of the built-in speakers is fine,no need for external speakers, the picture is clear and the colors are vibrant.Menu set-up was also fairly easy.
2 Very unhappy
I ordered a tv from Amazon. It was to ship in 1-2 days. Waited for 5 and then they finally sent an email saying the item was not in stock and cancelled the order saying this was not available from any of their dealers at this time. I checked the website and they still show the item. I won't shop here again. I feel that a company the size of Amazon should have better control of their inventory and should also have the courtesy to have notified us immediately that there was a problem. First time shopping here and with this experience, it will be the last. I feel they should show that there is a stocking problem and be respectful enough of their customers and potential customers, to be upfront about all aspects of a purchase.

Quote of the Day:

It is true that if your paperboy throws your paper into the bushes for five

straight days it can be explained by Newton's Law of Gravity. But it takes
Murphy's law to explain why it is happening to you.

FORTUNE'S GUIDE TO DEALING WITH REAL-LIFE SCIENCE FICTION: #2
What to do...
if you get a phone call from Mars:
Speak slowly and be sure to enunciate your words properly. Limit
your vocabulary to simple words. Try to determine if you are
speaking to someone in a leadership capacity, or an ordinary citizen.

if he, she or it doesn't speak English?
Hang up. There's no sense in trying to learn Martian over the phone.
If your Martian really had something important to say to you, he, she
or it would have taken the trouble to learn the language before
calling.

if you get a phone call from Jupiter?
Explain to your caller, politely but firmly, that being from Jupiter,
he, she or it is not "life as we know it". Try to terminate the
conversation as soon as possible. It will not profit you, and the
charges may have been reversed.
