The Sharp 32-C540 32-inch television has a high-focus, dark-tint picture tube and inputs for DVD players, VCR, game consoles, or camcorders. Its three-line digital comb filter separates the color signal from the black-and-white signal to reduce noise and artifacts, resulting in higher picture quality. With MTS (multichannel TV sound) stereo and SAP (second audio program), the 32-C540 can receive and decode stereo and SAP wherever they are available.

The EZ Setup feature is activated the first time the television is turned on, and will automatically prompt you to attach the cable or antenna and start the initial channel setup with the touch of just one button. The built-in V-Chip is an electronic blocking device that lets parents control the programming to prevent children from viewing questionable programs. Using the onscreen display and ratings system, you can screen programs according to age and content.

Features include trilingual onscreen menus, color temperature control, sleep timer, closed captioning, V-compression, and VMS. V-compression allows a viewer to watch an anamorphic widescreen movie in its true form by squeezing the scan lines and pixels into the middle of the screen. This enables you to see the whole film image at a higher resolution with no distortion. VMS (velocity modulation scanning) increases the refresh rate of an image, yielding a brighter and more accurate picture. Also included is a universal light up remote with DVD control (2 AAA batteries included).

You get a rear component-video input to connect your DVD player, satellite, or other video sources for high picture quality. There are also rear S-video and composite-video inputs.

1 Great features for this class and price tv
For the price of this television I have no complaints. The picture is great for a traditional tv. It is not a flat screen, but I didn't want to spend the extra 200$ for that feature at this time. I love the ability to switch from 4:3 to 16:9, something that is not available on most televisions unelss you spend a lot more cash. Overall, it isn't HDTV, but it sure isn't bad.
