1 good bang for the buck-from a word lover
This dictionary looks pretty amazing...nice and neat, very compact that fits your pocket. The zoom function is cool too you can zoom it out to read 8 lines at a time.
Overall, this is a user friendly dictionary...nice example and illustrations along with words.
One drawback however is lack of real sound pronuciation but only pronunciation key
2 At last! A readable screen, better battery setup!
I have had 3 previous electronic dictionaries and all have had the same problem. Their button batteries lasted about as long as a flea on a DDT supper. This Sharp beauty solves that problem by using readily available AAA battery. It's screen is large with a built in 'zoom' feature. It answers all my prayers for an item of this type and I recommend it all who have suffered in the past as I have. A very satisfying purchase indeed. Hooray for Sharp!
3 Everything You Need
I'm not generally prone to gushing about electronics but I recently bought one of these PW-E350's and I absolutely love it. I originally purchased it for use on the bus (I read quite a bit on the bus and come across unknown words from time to time) but I find myself going to it all the time at home and at work as well. It's just so darn convenient. I've yet to not find a word I was looking for - including proper names and places. By the way, the definitions do include the use of the words in context (not necessarily complete sentences) so you can get a sense for appropriate usage. The history list is a bonus - as is the case with another reviewer - it generally takes me a couple of reads before the word sticks. My only wish is the history list held more than 20 words. I'd like it to hold about 50. So, if you're on the market for an E-dictionary - this PW-E350 is a downright steal at this price.
4 pretty good electronic dictionary
I was really impressed by this dictionary. I found almost anything I searched and the search tracked my characters as I typed so that I didnt have to type the whole word.
Pros:
The whole dictionary & thesaurus
Easy to carry
Cons:
A little bulky
No pronounciation(only pronounciation keys)
The anagram solver and other features are not very useful.
Overall worth $40 that I paid for this.
5 The Best Electronic Dictionary In Its Price Range
I purchased a Sharp PW-E550 for almost $100. That is a PERFECT hand-held; and nothing else comes even close to it in terms of ease of use, features and content. In my opinion, a dictionary without headword pronunciation guide should not be called a good dictionary at all. PW-E550 would perfectly suit intermediate/advanced level American English learners/users. The only difference between PW-E350 and PW-E550 is that 350 does not have the content of Garner's Modern American Usage. [...]
