1 Excuse me...
It would be foolish to rely upon the information of an incompetent user not knowing the difference between digital and analog technology. A "large red X" means you are trying to record on a protected tape! By the way, its in good conscience not conscious. Furthermore, how can anyone claim a product is the "lamest on the market" when electronic publications that TEST each product say otherwise. The Sharp VL-A10U is an outstanding camera and if you should have trouble operating it consult your manual before making false claims and assumptions.
2 Why this camera is not good
Well dont buy this camera is how i should start it off.
let me tell you this funny story. See im 14 years old, im trying to become a Film Director. So i bought this camera because it seemed decent. I come home with it 2 days later.
In one of my scenes i wanted the camera to aim at me, but my brother wasnt their to help me. I twisted the lens around, as i did it i heard this noise [Crackal Crackal] [Electric Zap] and my finger split. The camera then shut off. I called the company and asked for assistance. A guy picked up the phone and said. Please Hold. 10 mins later the guy comes back and says, we cant help you. And hangs up the phone.... Dont buy this camera.
By the way. my uncle [Lawyer] will be chatting with them soo, thanx for bringing me one step down of my dream!
3 I can not let you buy this camera in good conscious!!!!
I hope this review reached you before you bought the lamest digital camera on the market. My wife and I have used this camera for a total of 10 hrs over 2 years. It does not work at all after this limited use. It is a useless paper weight. A larger red X appears on the screen when we put a tape in and try to record. The cost of repairs is estimated at $200. Doesn't the camera cost $200????

If I have not been able to reach you prior to your purchase of the Sharp paper weight then save your self the time and trouble of contacting Sharps customer service department when (not if) their inferior product breaks ... just copy either of the two below emails and send them to yourself.

4 Easy to use... easy to need repair
I had this camera for little over a 1.5 yrs. It need repairs FIVE TIMES! The last three times it was sent in, the problem wasn't fixed so Sears let me trade for a newer version, VL-AH151U, free of charge. I didn't even need a warranty. GOD BLESS SEARS!
5 All new options with the lowest price
Its a very good camcorder, it has all options with the lowest price in the market. Since I leaved near a high voltage cable ligne, the picture copied from the camcorder to the VCR videotape was unstable, also if you record near any high voltage cable the picture will show instability.
6 I Love my New Sharp Viewcam
This is my third camcorder. I have had a VHS camcorder it was heavy and had a little view finder. Then I had a VHS-C It was a little better. But It was still hard to use. You had to put the tapes into the tape adapter. It was hard to try to operate it and look through the viewfinder. I just bought this Sharp Viewcam and I love it. I have a lazy right eye and using the other camcorders I had to use my left eye. It was kinda hard. The Sharp viewcam I don't have to use just one eye I can use both. I can video tape and use the special affects without stopping and trying to find the right button. They are right there on the screen. And when I did playback throught my VCR the picture was great. I think I made a right choice. Because the Sharp viewcam is fun and easy to use. I a mom on three kids and I want to be able to catch special events. And I know with this camcorder I will have fun taping things the kids do.
7 WOW!
This is a great price for such a fantastic camera! It's amazing! Great for home movies and the effects are a nice touch. It's light-weight, too, so you can take it anywhere! I'd give this camera 500 stars if i could!
8 not satisfied
I've owned the camera two years and it's needed repair twice. The camera must be sent off and takes about six weeks to two months for return. It is now needing repair once more ... also it is difficult to see images in bright sunlight.
9 Alright!
What yo get in this product is more than the money you spend on it. But.....how long can you manage with this one is a question!
10 worth the price
Sharp VL-A1OU Viewcam provide all you need for easy home video recording at low price. If your are looking for a less expensive camcorder that still offers fun features, than this one is the your chioce. 3"-LCD make it easy to shoot and the small size is very comfortable to hold.
11 pretty good
its a good camera light weight and all. but alittle akward with the size it seemed wierd.
12 Great Camera
This camera overall is a great deal. I got this camera mainly for its four special effects and title writer which work quite nicely. The remote makes watching tapes extremely easy. The only downside is that the picture quality could be a little better. It's a great deal though if you want an inexpensive camera to make home videos on!

Quote of the Day:

I turned my air conditioner the other way around, and it got cold out.

The weatherman said "I don't understand it. I was supposed to be 80
degrees today," and I said "Oops."

In my house on the ceilings I have paintings of the rooms above... so
I never have to go upstairs.

I just bought a microwave fireplace... You can spend an evening in
front of it in only eight minutes.
-- Steven Wright

I myself have dreamed up a structure intermediate between Dyson spheres
and planets. Build a ring 93 million miles in radius -- one Earth orbit
-- around the sun. If we have the mass of Jupiter to work with, and if
we make it a thousand miles wide, we get a thickness of about a thousand
feet for the base.

And it has advantages. The Ringworld will be much sturdier than a Dyson
sphere. We can spin it on its axis for gravity. A rotation speed of 770
m/s will give us a gravity of one Earth normal. We wouldn't even need to
roof it over. Place walls one thousand miles high at each edge, facing the
sun. Very little air will leak over the edges.

Lord knows the thing is roomy enough. With three million times the surface
area of the Earth, it will be some time before anyone complains of the
crowding.
