Sony's MFM-HT75W is a combination 17-in TFT LCD computer monitor and high-definition, widescreen TV with support for both analog and digital inputs and compatibility with both PC and Macintosh operating platforms. Wide 170-degree horizontal and vertical viewing angles ensure that everyone in the room can comfortably view the display, while a 0 to 20-degree tilt and height adjustable stand allow you to change the monitor position to best suit your needs.

A 1,280 x 768 maximum resolution and 0.294 mm dot pitch deliver accurate and true-to-life images, and the 800:1 contrast ratio and 450 cd/m2 of brightness provide rich detail. XBRITE LCD Technology optimizes brightness, color, clarity and viewing angle, while ErgoBright technology optimizes brightness for any lighting condition to reduce eyestrain. A fast 16 ms response time ensures that motion video and graphics are always displayed smoothly.

Component, S-video, and composite inputs support 480i (NTSC), 480p, 720p (high definition), and 1080i (high definition) video signals, while the built-in TV tuner is compatible with VHF 2-13, UHF 14-69, CATV 1-125, and NTSC standards. Audio is provided by two 3-watt stereo speakers, with a 5-watt subwoofer providing an enhanced bass. A headphone jack allows you to watch TV or listen to music without disturbing anybody else in the room.

The picture-in-picture feature lets you simultaneously view video from two separate inputs. You can adjust the size of the picture-in-picture window and also choose between four placement locations. A closed caption feature is also provided for the hard-of-hearing or for those times when quiet is required.

The MFM-HT75W is plug-and-play compatible for ease of setup, and can be wall-mounted for added convenience. The unit also comes backed with a three-year limited warranty on parts, labor, and backlight.

1 An outstanding multimedia solution from Sony!
My display is being put to dual use in a Windows XP / Macintosh OS X setup. It works greats in both environments. The picture is crisp and fluid at the same time, meaning that text looks sharp while pixilation is indiscernible when viewing high quality digital photos.

With the PC: The display is set at 1280 x 768 resolution and is truly excellent.

With the Mac: I use this display with my Apple iBook. Initially this caused a problem with the fact that the iBook does not output in widescreen format. I downloaded a fix to my iBook called "Screen Spanning Doctor" at http://www.rutemoeller.com/mp/ibook/ibook_e.html (WARNING, do not select the "clamshell" option during initial setup as this will not allow your iBook to properly dissipate heat during use and can cause serious damage to your iBook). Now I can display my iBook in widescreen at 1280 x 768 resolution.

The truly awesome feature of this display however is that I do not have to switch any cables around. You can hook up a computer with an appropriate video card to the DVI connection port, a laptop to the standard VGA port, cable TV to the 75-ohm VHF/UHF coaxial port, standard or Super Video VCR or camcorder to the Standard/S-Video port, and your HD receiver / Satellite receiver / Progressive-Scan DVD Player to the Component video port. You can easily switch between all of them using the supplied Sony infrared remote control (RM-333). There is even Picture-in-Picture so you can watch TV while your working on the computer without over-taxing your computers processor and video card.

Sound quality is very good using the three internal speakers (2 stereo & a sub-woofer) if set to SRS WOW.

Overall I am very pleased with this display
