1 Another equal sequel
Very few sequels live up to their famous firsts, even though Spiderman 2 and Shrek 2 recently shattered this premise. This is another in that rare grouping, running at an entertaining 12 minutes longer than the first.
This time we learn of the existence of a whole network of Spy Kids, and Carmen and Juni have to prove their mettle against a well heeled sister and brother duo from hell.
Their adventures take them to a mysterious island, invisible to radar, where "The Island of Dr. Moreau" meets "Sinbad", "Jurassic Park" and "Fantasy Island". Star turns by Ricardo Montalban as Carmen and Juni's grandfather, and Steve Buscemi as the nutty scientist, as well as cameos by Alan Cumming and Tony Shaloub increase the entertainment value fourfold.
The rival Spy Kids dialogue and superciliousness go against the grain sometimes, but the gadgetry is as brilliant as the first, even though they don't always work when needed.
Imagination rules here, and if you like those old adventure movies with fantastic creatures and swashbuckling heroes, you will like this one. Better yet, adults can enjoy it without needing the excuse of having a child.

2 Esp’as del siglo XXI

4 The Adventure Continues.
Beginning a couple years after SPY KIDS left off, SPY KIDS 2: THE ISLAND OF LOST DREAMS finds Juni and Carmen as two of the top-notch kid spies in the international spy Agency that their family is all involved with. When a top secret gadget, called the Transmooger, that can shut down any defense system in the world is stolen, Juni is blamed and the sibling duo is pulled out of running from top-ranking status. However, Carmen uses her killer hacking skills to arrange it so the her and Juni are sent after the crooks who stole the Transmooger. Their search leads them to an invisible island that is home to a menagerie of genetically created monsters. The Cortez siblings soon find themselves fending off giant reptiles and skelton armies as they attempt to get the Transmooger back from a man bent on taking over the world.
SPY KIDS 2 is made in the same spirit as the original movie, but it's a bit too much over-the-top. SPY KIDS was a movie taken straight from the mind of a man-child suffering from Peter Pan syndrome. In SPY KIDS 2, the child-like mind is still there, but it's haunted by the upcoming onset of puberty. This could have made for an interesting struggle in the film, but the tension was a nuissance that was covered by overcompensating in other areas.
As a side note, SPY KIDS 2 is a homage to the creature creations of famed special effects/monster wizard Ray Harryhausen. His influence is felt all over the picture and it was kind of nice to sit back, relax, and enjoy a movie that felt like an old SINBAD picture. Kids will love this movie, teens will find it boring, and adults will have a mixed response. I enjoyed SPY KIDS better, but overall found SPY KIDS 2 to be almost as entertaining and fun as the original.
5 Not Too Good
This movie was pretty much horrible. The plot was weird and dumb and the kid actors were pretty annoying. Then again kids with a short attention span should be into this.
6 A PRETTY GOOD MOVIE!
IT WAS PRETTY GOOD!I LIKED THE FIRST ONE BETTER,BUT THIS ONE WAS REAL COOL TOO!THE ACTORS ARE REAL GOOD WHEN THE`RE PLAYING AS THESE PEOPLE!
7 Great Movie
I enjoyed Spy Kids 2 a lot. I have Spy Kids and it was alright. I watched 3-D in theatres and thought it was crappy. Today I watched Spy Kids 2 and I loved it it's a funny movie full of action. I highly recommend it.
8 Better than the original but much less like 007
Spy Kids was a lot like James Bond, only for kids. Sure, the gadgets were a little wacky, as was the plot, and the lines weren't super (they should have included some double entendres, that would have been a laugh), but it was good. This, however, shows the franchise is veering into fantasy. And from what I hear about Spy Kids 3D: Game Over, the James Bond similarity seems to be over. If you want James Bond, see Agent Cody Banks, XXX, or the real thing, Die Another Day.
Kids, however, will not make a Venn diagram between Bond and Spy Kids, primarily because they've never watched 007 ask for a vodka martini, shaken not stirred. This movie is heavy on stars ( Antonio Banderas, Ricardo Montalban) but it never feels like, say, Hook.
Two spies have no choice but to let their children, Carmen and Juni, become junior agents. The movie starts out, oddly enough, with a not-so-irrelevant action sequence.
At an OSS meeting, something fishy is going on already. The President, whose daughter was rescued by Juni, is carrying some sort of technological wonder called the Transmooker device (nice name, what's it mean?). It is promptly stolen by the champagne waiters, who disappear by being magnetically sucked to a UFO. Juni is claimed responsible by Gary, the snobby son of the president of the OSS. Gary also has a relationship with Carmen.
Gary and his younger sister Gerti are sent on a mission to recover the Transmooker device, but Juni and Carmen beat them to it. When they get to the island, however, their gadgets do not work... Poor Carmen without her cell phone. Soon they find out about the genetic experiments of a scientist that roam the island, which are pretty big. Picture a lizard with a twenty-foot neck. Yep, they're big. The president of the OSS, however, soon wants the Transmooker device for himself, and things get complicated fast.
The casting could use a little change. Alan Cummings, although his role is tiny in this movie, should have been replaced by Jim Carrey, Jim Carrey played a (kinda) normal guy in Batman Forever, and as a scientist and entrepreneur he wasn't completely wacky. It would take some work, but Robin Williams could do the scientist. That might need a bigger budget, though, so scratch Robin Williams.
This movie doesn't feel so much like a Nickolodeon flick, though, which is an accomplishment. Still, if your child likes the show, they'll like this. Heck, your child will like this no matter what. Take 'em to it.
9 WOW!!!!!!!!!!!
When I saw this movie for the first time,I was amazed!I loved this film.If you want to be a "spykid",buy this movie!
10 As lame as Kidz Bop
This movie is as lame as Kidz Bop. No plot, just plop. Don't watch it. I hate all 3 spy kids movies. Go see Spiderman and learn with great Power there is great responsibility. Your responsibility here is to not buy it. Their is no moral to. If you want action watch Batman, Ninja Turtles, these are the real action movies your kids will love
11 terrible
How can anyone like movies such as this one unless you are 10 years old. It is full of cheasy lines, the actors are terrible and the plot is just plain stupid. There are many "cringeworthy" moments during the movie, and i just found myself hitting my head against the wall because the characters were so very stupid and "ditsy". Please spare your mind, and don't see this movie, unless you are retarded or under 11 years old.
12 A Fun & Exciting Film
Spy Kids has awakened the child inside me, due to the good inocent humor and cartoonish, non-lethal family film.
The director Robert Rodriguez has shown one more time his creativity and good humor.
Antonio Banderas has proved that he really is a good actor in kind of movie roles. Also Carla Gugino is fantastic in her role as a good mom who always takes good care of her family.
Alexa Vega and Daryl Sabara have grow up since their last movie. They have not, however, lost there inocence and are still cute.
As the mother of two kids (from Los angeles), I would encourege you to add this movie to your colection.
13 What a Ride
As an adult I watched the first Spy Kids out of curiosity and was pleasantly surprised. I thought I had heard the second one didn't do well at the theater, so I didn't go out of my way to rent it. I happened to catch it on cable the other day. I now am seriously thinking about buying it.
I was again impressed with the great story, sets, and special effects. As far as I'm concerned if you have a good cast and they are having fun making a movie it has a decent chance of being entertaining. I think the adults had as much fun as the kids making this one. The movie never takes itself to seriously and that is definitely a good thing.
Initially I was watching the movie by myself but after my wife heard me laughing out loud a few times she started watching. She was impressed as well on the movies merits. All I can say is if you want a movie the whole family can enjoy you should seriously consider this one.
14 Awful
I LOVED the first movie, but this was a giant monster of a disappontment! It was silly, contrived, and cartoonish. No plot. Just special effects that were wasted on a movie lacking any substance.
15 Better than the first!
I love this movie! It is better than the first movie! Well girls, Gary Giggles (Matthew O'Leary) is hot. Well anyway, I saw the third movie in theaters and it was even better than this one. These Spy Kids movies just keep on getting better and better!
16 Better than the original!
"Spy Kids 2: The Island of Lost Dreams" is a good sequel, much better than the original, including the part where Alan Cumming says "CUT!" really loud and the thumb people fall down. I give it a 5 out of 5.
17 A little weaker than the first but just as charming
In the time since Spy Kids the OSS where the parents worked has created a Spy Kids division. Carmen and Juni are part of this but also there are a large number of other kids as well. Carmen and Juni however have a slight rivalry with another pair of brother and sister named Greg and Gilgi. When at an OSS party a dangerouse device known as the transmuker device is stolen and JUni is terminated from the OSS it is up to Carmen and Juni to not only get the device back, but to also find the mysteriouse island that the Bad GUys seemed to dissapear to.
This is another intelligently done kids movie, but a little less than the first. In the first the action was well crafted and the jokes were highly effective. THis time around however the jokes were more targeted towards kids and are less likely to appeal to Adults. THis movie is very entertaining just like the first, but to a leeser degree.
18 Spy Kids2: The Island of Stupidity
This movie stinks!! It has a stupid plot and effects that look like they're from the 50's!! Also, the movie is so cheesy, it attracts rats!! Be safe and see agent cody banks which is much better!!
19 Spy Kids 2-SO MUCH BETTER THAN THE 1st!
OK, admit it, the 1st movie stank. But Spy Kids 2 was one of the best movies I have seen! Incredible features, sound effects, wonderful plot! DEFINETLY worth buying!
20 Spy Kids 2-SO MUCH BETTER THAN THE 1st!
OK, admit it, the 1st movie stank. But Spy Kids 2 was one of the best movies I have seen! Incredible features, sound effects, wonderful plot! DEFINETLY worth buying!
21 The perfect sequel!
This movie goes wonderfully with it's prequel. They match just as well as Toy Story and Toy Story 2. Spy Kids 2 brings back nearly all (if not, all - I can't totally remember) of the beloved original characters. My favorite of these being Fegan Floop, the hilarious "ex" villain from the previous movie that has a charming singing voice and an even more charming appreciation for Carmen and Juni.
The story changes for the better, unlike so many other sequels out there that just make you hate the movies. The special effects - mainly the computer-generated monsters and such - aren't the best, but they are convincing.
This movie is overall very cute and funny, and the action is great. My sister and I took it apon ourselves to learn both of Floop's songs (the first one from SK 1), even though they're kinda creepy. Plus, the characters are growing (especially the kids!) and they look so much better than they did in the first SK. Alexa Vega is just getting prettier.
Great movie, one of my favs along with the original Spy Kids. I can't wait for Spy Kids 3D!
22 SPY KIDS 2: THE ISLAND OF LOST PLOTS
Robert Rodriguez wears multiple hats in this sequel to his hit kid's movie: He's credited as Director, Writer, Editor, Director of Photography, Production Designer, Music and Special Effects Superviser. Which probably goes a long way towards explaining why this sequel just doesn't measure up. The reverse of the old saying "Too many cooks spoil the broth" applies to the mess that is SPY KIDS 2.
#2 has junior spies Carmen (Alex Vega) and Juni (Daryl Sabara) Cortez finding their position as the top spies in their unit challenged by Gary and Gertie Giggles, who have unfairly been stealing credit for Carmen and Juni's successes. This rivalry stretches on so long that it isn't until halfway into the movie that the main plot finally surfaces.
On a desert island a mad scientist named Romero (Steve Buscemi) is creating strange mutant animals for his bizzare menagerie. The creatures include such original species hybrids as spider-monkey, cat-fish and dragon-fly. Ha ha. Not.
Unfortunately Romero isn't the only one who's lost the plot. (Blame Rodriguez, which is a shame because he's one of my fave Directors). Unfortunately the kids find themselves in way over their heads, being pursued by various dinosaurs who naturally want to eat them but also finding allies among the creatures too. However, Juni has a tracking device installed in one of his teeth so it's Greg (Anotonio Banderas) and Ingrid (Carla Gugino) to the rescue with the help of Ingrid's parents; whom Greg especially dislikes. Oddly Ricardo Montalbahn who plays Grandpa doesn't point up at the sky while on the island and shout "Ze plane! Ze plane!" Tattoo would not be impressed.
Meanwhile Gary and Gertie's tireless trickery to become Numero Uno sees them literally buried up to their necks in deep poop.
While the original was fun, ISLAND OF LOST DREAMS is an ordeal, even down to Alan Cummings reprising his role from the first movie as Floop; giving the viewer a good idea what Pee-Wee Herman would look like after an hour being stretched on the rack. This isn't helped by cheesy effects that look like they belong in a Larry Cohen B-movie, not a Hollywood blockbuster; even though Rodriquez has included a homage to Ray Harryhausen's skeletal swordsman from JASON AND THE ARGONAUTS.
While SPY KIDS was a fun, sharp and inventive movie that could be enjoyed by kids and adults alike; ISLAND OF LOST DREAMS is just a mess.SPY KIDS 3D is on the way. Here's hoping it's a lot better than this inferior sequel which seems to run an awful lot longer than 95 minutes. Keep a look out for the grandparents in their franchise spinoff SPY GERIATRICS: THE ISLAND OF LOST DENTURES. Worse still, Banderas and Gugino are given little to do here. If,like me you liked the first one; then you won't be so forgiving of this.
DVD extras include "Robert Rodriguez's 10 Minute Film School", a doco about the movies stunt kids and their training, Director's commentary, deleted scenes, a music video, a look at the gadgets in the movie, behind the scenes montages, the Total Access feature "Day In The Life Of Spy Kids", a stills gallery, art gallery and teaser trailer.
23 Wow, its much better than the first one!!!!!!!!!
Simply the best Rodriguez really did it this time. This movie is better than James Bond Die Another Day. Seriously its so cool. i really liked the music video at the end. I think every teenager should see this movie.
The story begins when the president's duaghter steals the transmooker device from the president's office. Then she delibrately stays above on the flying joker ride. Two junior agents are called in to bring her down Carmen and Juni but their show off rivals (Gary and Gerdi)also arrive their with their hi tech gear. after the ride scene we once again see them at the party. The president is to name the director of the O.S.S and instaed of Gregorio Cortez (Antonio Banderas)Donagon Giggles the father of Gary and Gerdi is named director. From then the story really unfolds with lots of events happening. From a terrible computer glitch to Carmen and Juni having the Ukata mission. Its a lot of action and comedy.
I wont tell you the story to the whole movie because you have to see it for yourself but i will tell you the end.
In the end Gerdi helps the Cortez family by disengaging the real powerful transmooker device and stopping her father from killing Gregorio and the Cortez family including the grand parents of Carmen and Juni are saved. The president's duaghter gives level one badge to Juni but he does not take it. and she fires Donnagon and names Gregorio the director of the O.S.S
In the end you really must see this movie and the music video which Alexa Vega sings for the movie.
24 Better than the first one
I enjoyed this movie much more then the first one. There seemed to be much more thought in this one and it was more entertaining. The first was good, but this one is better in my opinion.
25 Rocket-Fast, Special Effects Free-For-All!!!
I bought this DVD on a whim (mostly because it was on sale). I saw much of the first Spy Kids film but found it easy to tear myself away. It was much too geared towards kids for me. What encouraged me to take a chance on "Spy Kids 2" was the some-what publicized idea that it paid tribute to Ray Harryhausen (Dynamation guru of Sinbad fame). I was pleasantly surprised, and relieved at how entertaining this film was.
Without reiterating the story/plot, here's what I liked about this DVD and why you would (wouldn't?) want to buy it.
The Film:
-Combination Spi-Tech, action fantasy.
-Acting is more than adequate. Kids are actually likeable instead of obnoxious (like many films).
-Story is a simple good vs. bad quest/race... ...with a few twists along the way.
-This film moves so fast that you might find yourself pausing to explain what is happening to younger kids. It can get a bit confusing.
-Consider the story as a scafold on which to hang endless (and very cool) special effects. This is the big payoff for this film. Don't expect to get too wrapped up in a sophisticated story.
-The creatures, of which there are many, can be a little scary at times. My 5 year old did OK though. Harryhausen fans will appreciate this stuff.
-Language allert!! I believe the "S" word makes and appearance, though it happened so fast I wasn't sure.
-The gadgets, though not very realistic, are alot of fun. The amusement park rides are especially entertaining.
-This film was made for kids first, then adults. That does not mean you won't enjoy it, just something to keep in mind.
The DVD:
-Picture and sound are excellent. Near LOTR quality.
-Nice packaging. A sleeve over a printed keep-case is more than expected.
-Enough extras for the price. Most of the deleted scenes are nothing to get excited about (though a couple are pretty cool!)
-Music video is cute. Not just a song.
-Get it on sale and you'll really feal good about buying it. I would not have bought this at full price (though many might find it worth it)
Certainly not a great film but highly entertaining. The DVD is a can't miss. If you've seen this film, the DVD won't disappoint. If you like Ray Harryhausen films, this is a fun and fitting tribute to his works of the past. Maybe rent it first.
26 Much Worse Than the First Film
The sequel to Spy Kids is much worse than the first movie. There is no plot to the movie, the whole movie is just having the Cortez kids and the Giggle kids showing off to the OSS. The movie is very stupid. DO NOT go see this movie in theatres, I had this on my save list before I saw it but now after seeing it I am taking it off and so should you. This is a terrible movie, if you gave the first movie a 3 or below than skip this. If you gave it a 4 or 5 you might actually think it was OK. This movie is for the much younger set (10 and below.) DO NOT see this movie.
27 Better
Well, i saw the first and cried it was so bad, but they have made many improvements. i especially liked the "Lord of the Rings", "Jason and the Argonauts", and the "Indiana Jones" parodys. they also spent more time on the plot and not the Sibling rivalry [stuff]. i actually found myself enjoying it. I laughed out loud a couple times to. this is much better than the first and i reccomend this over it. the only reason to see the first is if you, like me, are a "I gotta see um in order" kinda person.
all in all, a huge improvement. if the 3rd is as better as the second to the first, the 3rd will [be great]
28 SPY KIDS 2 IS 2 TIMES BETTER
SPY KIDS 2 IS A IMPROVEMENT OVER PART 1 AND IT SHOWS MORE COOLER DEVICES AND EVEN A LITTLE BUG TOY{UNTIL IT GETS CRUSHED},BUT THIS ACTION-PACKED ADVENTURE IS RECOMMENDED TO THOSE WHO LIKE TO WATCH AGENT FILMS LKE INSPECTOR GADGET 1 AND 2 AND AGENT CODY BANKS.I LIKED THE SCENE WHEN THE BIZARRE ANIMALS LIKE HORSEFLY,SPIDER-MONKEY,AND MORE.A HILARIOUS FAMILY FILM.
29 Very Cool!
When I saw the preview for Spy Kids 2, I coundn't wait to see it. When I saw it it was even better then the first one. Actually a lot better! I saw it six times in the theater then when it came to DVD/VHS, I bought as soon as I could. It is a great pick! I absolutely love it, and can't wait for the next one to come out!!
30 Robert Rodriguez's Inspirational Film Commentary
When I bought this DVD, I wasn't expecting to hear anything particularly interesting from the director on the "director's commentary" audio track. What I found was a wonderful impromtu speech on creativity, believing in yourself, and trying new things. Robert Rodriguez did almost all of the major jobs in making the movie. He wrote the script, directed, designed the sets, and wrote the musical score in addition to several other jobs. He is always asserting that people should listen to their imaginations and fill out their ideas.
In addition to this, the movie itself is wonderful. The special effects are seamless, the acting is great, and the story is fascinating. There are lots of interesting extras on the DVD that show how the movie was made and what the actors are like.
All in all, a great DVD.
31 Film Students Everywhere - Pay Attention to this movie!
Not only is this a great and entertaining movie, but it is also a lesson on film making (hear Robert's commentary). I can't say anything bad about this movie. It was well worth my time and money. Loved it!
32 thegreatestmovieofalltime!
I think that if you like action and adventure, this is the first movie you should get! It is a great movie for the family, and has some great special features. It has a lot of action and the spy kids have some really cool gadgets, but when they land on a island that is home to the transmoker device, none of their cool gadgets work. In this movie, Carmen and Juni have grown up, and Carmen has a super crush on a serious showoff/brat named Geri Giggles. When they both arrive at the island, they are racing to try and find the transmoker. In the end, Juni quits to OSS, so I wonder if he will be involved in Spy Kids 3 Game Over. I thought the story had a great plot and I loved it!
33 Better than the first!
My family (including my 8-year-old daughter)loves this movie. We enjoyed it even more than the first one. It's filled with action and adventure and fantasy. Its a great family movie and fun for kids and adults!
34 NO PLOT AT ALL!
This movie had a poor script and in my opinion it had no feasable plot. It really needed more than Carmans crush on Gary Giggles and the fact that his father wants to take over the world. Compared to the first movie this movie was horrible. And at the end they sort of try to make Carman (Alexa Vega) into a pop star singer that really ticked me off. that is why i give it 1 star (really i don't think it deserves any). I really wouldn't suggest this movie to anyone who really enjoyed the first one.
35 Parents Beware! Not for the little ones
I saw this movie with a group of children aged 4 to 12. This movie, like the first one, is marketed to entire families and we are led to believe that it is appropriate for everyone. Oh please, if you believe that I happen to have a bridge to sell you.
In all fairness, this is a frenetic and inventive movie. Lots of action scenes and neat special effects. And the two kids are simply adorable. But the youngest ones in my party spent the majority of the show cowering behind the seats in front of them. And I'd have to say that the movie provides some bad influence for the older kids too. I mean, a machine that picks the kid's nose for him?? No one should see something like that (I even complained to the theater manager and got free passes!).
Still a worthwhile time-passer for kids, if you are a liberal parent.
36 Enjoy Watching With Your Kids Together !!
My kids enjoyed watching it; I enjoyed watching with my kids together too. A lot of new and funny gadgets. We have not watched the first one, but will do after.
A lot of computer effects and you have to be amazed with how technology changes the movie industry. The DVD has a lot of extras and there is a special feature of director Robert Rodriquez explaining how several major scenes were shot - could be quite interesting for kids. Good value in buying the DVD.
Someone in the reviews said kids movies get better every year. I totally agree.
I am giving an overall rating of B+
37 Very Good DVD With Good Extras
Others have talked about the movie itself, which is well-done, but I want to talk about the extras on the DVD. The commentary with director Robert Rodriguez is surprisingly good. Robert lays out his creative process well and also talks about how shooting digitally is going to change everything about moviemaking. The "Ten Minute Film School" short illustrates several points from the commentary and shows how to do good effects on a budget. His overall message is, "If you liked this movie, try to make one yourself! You can do it! Good luck!" I thoroughly enjoyed listening to him.
38 the...best movie ever
i LOVED this movie and the first one too and i think the creatures were...COOL!!!!!!
and i i liked the...cat/fish and the spider/monkey
but i thought the slizards were weird though.
39 Charming
I honestly liked this movie. The first one was very funny and imaginative, so I was expecting the sequel to be, well, bad. I was wrong. It has comedy, action and adventure, heroes, and enemies (none too scary for the little children). However, like the first movie, the special effects aren't up to par with the latest Lord of the Rings movie; and the plot lines are rather thin. But how can you care when Antonio Banderas is playing the father of two spy children? So follow along with Carmen and her brother Junie as they save the world once again.
40 Disappointing
As a fan of the first movie, I had high hopes for this one. While it turned out to be OK, that was about it. Rodriguez, who wrote and produced and directed and edited this thing, should have had someone help him trim off the fat.
The biggest problem was that the Spy Kids are hardly kids any more. Carmen is now a "developing" teenager, complete with annoying boyfriend, and Juni is not a baby any more. The slapstick and brother-sister fighting that was so funny and genuine the first time around is practically non-existent here. And along with that, the kids have settled into their OSS-agent roles and now spew secret agent-speak. Adolescent kids actually speaking like this: "What is your assessment, Juni?" and "Your cloaking device is highly coveted." WHAT??? What is Carmen saying??? This stuff goes on through the WHOLE movie. I was largely clueless on the plot developments thanks to utterly confusing dialogue like that.
And the techno-gear that was kind of cool in the first movie, partly because they didn't know what the heck they were doing with it, is now standard issue for the two of them, and present in EVERY scene, ad nauseum. I couldn't tell if Rodriguez was saying, "kids, learn to use your wits and don't rely on technology" when he addicted them to all these gadgets and then took them away on this island where no machines can function and the kids freak out. In the end, their phrase, "an agent is only as good as his gadgets" seems to prevail. What was the point of the exercise, then?
Also in the "what was the point" category, putting talented and charismatic Ricardo Montalban in as Ingrid's father seemed like a cool idea, but went nowhere. He wound up with a bit part and did nothing interesting at all, apart from shaking hands with Antonio Banderas the way he should have in place of Anthony Hopkins in "Mask of Zorro." What a waste. Ditto the cameos by both Alan Cumming and Tony Shalhoub.
Spy Kids (1) was a really fun movie and perhaps it just can't be duplicated with the kids growing up. But a good script is at least a prerequisite, and it was missing, here.
41 Get lost
I loved the first Spy Kids. I loved it. So I was very excited to go see the second installment. Was I ever wrong! I'd just like to say that this one is completely over-the-top and hokey. Yes, special effects up the kazoo, but they're all very laughable. Spy Kids 2 was an enormous production, but it took everything skeptical from the first and magnified it twenty or so times. It's one of those movies that DEMANDS you pay attention and like it. The thing I hated most about this movie is the embarrassment I felt walking out of the theatre. Look, if you're older than fifteen you probably aren't going to enjoy it that much. But the little ones will like it. Hence the KIDS in Spy Kids.
42 Spy kids review
This movie was great. I really enjoyed it. This would be a good movie for any age. It is about spy kids fighting for the top position. I think you should see this movie.
43 Very Cool Movie!
This movie is REALLY GOOD!
I?m definatly gonna get the DVD.
It?s better than 1.
44 Carmen and Juni are back!
If you missed Spy Kids, and want to know what it is about. Carman and Juni are the children of two retired spies who was once enimies but fall in love and raise Carman and Juni and keep a secret that they were spies. And they hire a fake reletive to baby sit them when they had out on thier first mission in almost 10 years. This time Carman (Alexa Vegas) and Juni (Daryl Sabara) have rival spies. And thier names are Geril Giggles (Emily Osment) and Garry Giggles (Matt O'Leary). And when Carmen's little brother Juni loses a gaget, he loses his job as top spy kid. And both Carmen and Juni head out to get it back and sent the Giggles who was hired to retirve the gaget lost. And now it looks like it up to Gregorio (Antonio Banderas) and Ingrid (Carla Gugino) to save thier kids.... I reccomened you to watch Spy Kids...
45 Spy Kids 1 put through a blender
Spy Kids One featured a "real" but fantastical family - sibling rivalry, parents who love their kids but keep things from them - and used "spy" technology in an amusing light-hearted way to propel the spy story.
Spy Kids Two uses every bit of technology in the book but the family story at the heart of One gets turned into a joke. At different points in the movie it appears to be about: a rivalry between the Spy Kids and a snotty rival pair of brother-sister spies; a wicked double-dealing head of their spy agency who must be stopped; an island hidden from view by a weird technological innovation; nosy grandparents that don't think their grandkids are being raised properly; a mad scientist afraid to go outside; hybrid monster animals (a monkey/spider/centaur combo) run amok; spooky cursed ruins guarded by by animated skeletons, yada yada yada. It had the air of "ohmigod this part is boring let's put some new monster in it."
If you go out to go to the bathroom, or to get some popcorn, the movie will be about something else when you come back.
In fairness I must say my 8-year-old son liked it, but it was not half as good a story as the first one. Wait for the video unless it's a rainy afternoon and your kids are threatening you. And then - rent it but don't buy it.
46 Being a Spy
Being a Spy it not easy said to Carmen(Alexa Vega)
and Juni(Daryl Sabara). But of course being and actor
that plays yhe role of a spy is has never being easy.
I dont now why people compleid about this movie so much
for me is really good, i being it as action, andventure
and comedie waht more can you ask. Some people says that
the movie is only for kids and the only word I said it
is noT the movie was really cool I recommend it for any
one if you are a kid, teenager adult or whatever you have to see this movie is really I recomend it for anyone plus if you like how Alexa Vega acts you will love how she sings. At the end of
the movie you can see her sing to and look it for whar to see spy kids 3 next summer
47 2 Times the Fun
Took my 6 year old grandson, he was either on the edge of his seat (not squirming) or laughing the entire time. Cameo appearances of all the original characters made the movie more fun to watch and recall the original. Several huge laughs, lot's of humor. If you liked the first, 2 is equal or better
48 A big step down.
... Seeing as how the first installment was somewhat entertaining, I was thinking this would be nearly as good. Whoa, was I wrong. There were really no redeeming qualities to this movie, whatsoever, although Steve Buscemi is as entertaining as usual. Between the wooden acting, terrible editing and absolutely inane dialogue, this dog seemed to drag on much longer than the published run time.
Banderas and Gugnio seem to be almost embarassed when delivering their lines, and, although the child actors seem to hold some talent, the situations they are put in and the weak writing give them no chance to deliver ...
I must say, I've been to a dozen or so kids' movies over the last couple of years, and this is the first time the theater has been absolutely silent. A typical kids' movie features cheers, commentary and laughter by the audience ... Honestly, I think that I heard a total of one (1) child make a peep during this movie. Lines that were delivered for an obvious laugh were met with silence ...
49 Get it only if the kids pester you.
I expected a lot more, especially considering how good the first one was. I took some kids to see the first one and wasn't really looking to enjoy it, but I really enjoyed it. Later I went and bought the DVD and VHS as a gift. So I took some kids to see Spy Kids 2, and they were the same kids who loved the first one, and one of the kids was bored and the smaller girl wanted to leave. And there I am wondering what the heck happened.
This movie was sort of bizarre. In the first one you had jet packs, robots and a mini-submarine, but with a little stretch of the imagination you could believe it. In Spy 2, everything was flying, including cars and a WHEELCHAIR. Then there was a cheap Ray Harrihausen rip-off with some fighting skeletons. How the heck does a movie dealing with spy gadgets turn into fighting the undead? Then there's this idiot scientist who, for the heck of it, creates giant mutated creatures. I could believe the robots and the jet packs, but a gorilla/horse creature???
In Spy 1 it appeared the major characters were all getting about the same screen time. But maybe it was me, but it looked like the Juni and Carman (the main spy kids) were getting about 75% of the film, which made the other characters seem insignificant.
The movie ends...or so we thought. We walked out and got about halfway up the aisle, when next thing you know Carman's singing and cha-cha-ing all over the place. Then Juni gets an electric guitar and they're in front of a concert filled with kids. What the heck was that?! I guess Director Rodgriguez was under too much pressure to capitalize off the success of the first Spy Kids movie to care about a decent story, and he figured he'd add a couple of songs to the sale of the soundtrack, which was no where near as good as the first one. The first movie had a great soundtrack for a kid's movie, worth buying. But this one...yuk!
Only buy this movie if the kids pester you to get it. Otherwise, keep quiet and hope they don't bring it up. And if they do make a Spy Kids 3, wait till one of your neighbors see it so you can get some feedback before you see plunk down good money to see flying donuts, a half-chicken half-squirrel creature, and Juni and Carman shaking their booties at a disco.
50 Worse than the first
And I thought that one was pretty awful. My kids loved the first one so I took them to this one - judging by thier reactions, they didn't like it as much either. The plot is lame, thin and a kid over 9 would agree that it is pretty silly to the point of stupidity. The special effects are by far and away the worst I have seen in a movie in a long time. My kids kept commenting "that looks fake". To say the least, they were awful, not one effect looked real in the least. The characters had even less development than the first and the acting, even the acting of relatively accomplished actors such as Banderas and Buschimi was strained and contrived. Very young children will enjoy seeing the Spy Kids again, parents should simply do themselves a favor and nap through this dog.
51 We?ve Got A Franchise!!
"Spy Kids 2: Island of Lost Dreams" is another in a line of great sequels to great movies. Overall, if you enjoyed the first film you'll be very pleased in the next installment in this "Bond for Kids" comedy/adventure series!!
THE STORY:
Carmen and Juni Cortez (Alexa Vega and Daryl Sabara) are back in a bigger and wilder adventure than before. This time the Cortez siblings are locked in a dead heat to get to the bottom of a mystery concealed by a remote and mysterious island before a rival team of Spy Kids beat them to the punch.
THE COOL THINGS:
The "Island of Lost Dreams" expands upon the Spy Kids world tenfold as we are introduced to the entire Spy Kids organization including its hierarchies and ultra-cool weapons. The "monsters" in this installment are also more formidable looking (mutated/spliced animals) as compared to the comical mutated humans from the first movie. We also get introduced to the extended Cortez family tree as Ingrid's parents gain a supporting role. In all, seeing the competing Spy Kids and the newer and cooler weapons made this movie more enjoyable.
BEST SCENES:
1. The Monster Duel
2. Popstars Carmen and Juni!!! (HILARIOUS!!!)
3. Battle at OSS
THE VERDICT:
Spy Kids was generally regarded as a good, solid movie not only for kids and families, but anyone in general. It was fun, entertaining and all around enjoyable. Summed in a nutshell, Spy Kids 2: Island of Lost Dreams is even better!!!
Highly Recommended
52 Better Than Original An A+!
This was good no way better than the 2001 Spring Hit. I went to see this this Labor Day weekend with my mom and we loved it I especially loved the music video "Isle of Dreams" by Alexa Vega during the credits I watched it a few times on Disney channel It's awesome I loved this movie and hope you go see it If you liked the first Spy Kids this will definitly be one you won't want to miss...
53 aight

54 boring
I fell asleep during this movie. I liked the outtakes at the end. They made me laugh. To like this, you need to be 10 or have a ten yearold child

56 Spy Kids 2
It is a very cool movie! It is funny and a great movie, I recommend it!
57 Lots of humor and excitement in this fast-moving adventure
"Spy Kids 2: The Island of Lost Dreams," written and directed by Robert Rodriguez, continues the cinematic adventures of the Cortez family. Alexa Vega and Darryl Sabara lead the cast as Carmen and Juni Cortez, a brother-and-sister team of kid secret agents. SK2 is a truly multigenerational story; in addition to featuring Antonio Banderas and Carla Gugino as the kids' parents, the film also costars Ricardo Montalban and Holland Taylor as the kids' maternal grandparents.
In this film, the spy kids trace a missing device to the fantastic island lair of an eccentric scientist (a fun performance by character actor Steve Buscemi). As the kids pursue their mission, they have a continuing rivalry with another brother-and-sister spy kid team (played with nice touches of Nellie Olson-ish nastiness by Matt O'Leary and Emily Osment). This kid-vs.-kid conflict gives an added kick to the fast-paced story.
SK2 is a really fun and exciting film. There are some wacky, Willie Wonka-ish images and satiric touches (one memorable sight gag involves some overprotective Secret Service agents). Some of the colorful special effects sequences seem to be homages to classic Ray Harryhausen films. And the film is filled with great spy gadgets; these kids really out-Bond 007 himself.
The performances are solid all around; the cast members have enjoyable chemistry with each other. The casting of Montalban (a sci-fi/fantasy icon due to his roles as Khan in "Star Trek" and Mr. Rourke from "Fantasy Island") is particularly inspired; the veteran actor brings tremendous charm and warmth to his role.
I haven't yet seen the original "Spy Kids" film, so I have to judge SK2 on its own. It's suitable, I believe, for the whole family; the violence in the film is of the cartoonish, non-lethal variety, and the film presents a nice message of family loyalty and togetherness.
58 Not bad at all
Fans of the first "Spy Kids" should enjoy this sequel. It's more of the same "spy" fun, with the same two actors playing the children, and Antonio Banderas and Carla Gugino are back as their spy parents.
There are more spy gadgets, and more children are now Spies as well as Juni and his big sister.
Add Ricardo Montalban("I am Mr. Rourke, and welcome to Fantasy Island!") and Holland Taylor, a familiar face from t.v. shows such as "Bosom Buddies" and a funny actress. They play the grandparents.
Add Steve Buscemi, who I had no idea was in this until he graced the big screen. He plays a scientist type whose experiments with miniature animals goes awry, and turns them all into giant creatures than take over the island he lives on, which is near the bad guys central location.
This is a fun, family movie that will keep you interesting as well as your children. It may be a little scary for younger children because of the animals.
Keep your eyes peeled for Taylor Momsen, she was "Cindy lu Who" in "The Grinch". Throught the entire movie, I couldn't figure out who she was, then saw her name...She played the President's little misbehaved daughter.
Recommended for family's night out with their children between 8 and 12.
59 The best movie ever! Parents and kids will both love it!
This movie will blow you away! If you were impressed by the first one, you will be absoulutley astounded by the second! It is much better by far. The high teck gadgets and special affects are wild and fun and the plot will be sure to keep you on the edge of your seat! Adults as well as kids will be excited to see it again and again! This is definitley a family movie with plenty of action and adventure. Carmen and Juni Cortez are at it again, but this time, they have a little competition from two new comers Gerty(Haley Joel Osment's sister) and Garry Giggles. They are both always trying to compete against one another, at the same time, trying to stop the Giggle's evil father from taking over the world. At the end everything works out for the best and they have a funny little skit at the end showing Alexa (Carmen) and Darryl (Juni) strutting their stuff, Darryl is on guitar and Alexa is attempting to be a popstar. I guarentee that you will love this movie! Have fun!
60 Kid's movies get better every year.
Spy Kids 2 is hilarious. It's campy. It's one of the few kids movies that doesn't throw a lot of jokes in for parents to understand into the script, and it's wonderful.
The star of the show, by far, is Juni. He's hilarious. He's the coolest kid of any movie I've seen in a long time, and I've seen a LOT!
If you've seen Spy Kids and you liked it, you'll probably love Spy Kids 2. There's a ton of new gadgets, a bunch of jokes, and a ballet scene.
Yup, a ballet scene.
For adults, there's a lot of cool actors in this movie. Ricardo Montalbon from Fantasy Island (to stick with the Island theme) and Holland Taylor (Max from Mission: Impossible, to stick with the Spy theme.
A new spy family, the Giggles, is headed by the father, played by Mike Judge. Sound familiar? He was the writer/director of Office Space (also played Stan, the manager at Chotchkies) and creator of Beavis and Butthead.
Finally, a mad geneticist played by Steve Buscemi. (Reservoir Dogs, Con Air, Fargo, Armageddon... actually, what HASN'T he been in?)
Put them all together and you've got one entertaining movie.
Go see it!
61 Good for what it is
Any movie with Christopher McDonald *and* Steve Buscemi gets at least a few points in my book.
But seriously, Spy Kids 2 is not a bad movie. It's an unpretentious family flick, and it doesn't bog down at any point.
However, while writer/director Richard Rodriguez has been receiving tons of praise for his accomplishment, he fails to do one very important thing in his movie: create any real suspense. The threats the Spy Kids run into are more momentary diversions and less life/mission-threatening terrors.
Spy Kids also falls into the trap of over-reliance on computer graphics, which oftentimes serve to remind the viewer that it's only a movie.
Still not an unenjoyable watch, though. Especially for kids.
62 wow
let me just say i loved spy kids and i wanted to see the second one but you know how it is for most movies the sequel is not as good as the first well let me tell you it is just as good ofcourse without the first one there wouldn't be a second one but this one has 3 times as more action also i love it that the trailer never gives away what the story is about so i saw go see it if you're a kid make your parents take you I will definetly buy this movie when it comes out on dvd.
63 Not as good as the first; still worth seeing
GENERAL: Spy Kids 2: The Island of Lost Dreams, first of all, is a strange title. Yes, the plot centers around an island, but where does the "Lost Dreams" part come from? Just a question...
ACTING: The acting in Spy Kids 2 is great, even from the kids. They're completely believable, and really live up to expectations.
PLOT: Good, better than most sequels this summer, but not nearly as interesting as in the first. It's basically a competition between two rival families to find a device first- not very gripping.
HUMOR: I was sad at how little I laughed during this film, as opposed to Spy Kids where my sides hurt. What happened?
SPECIAL EFFECTS: Just like the first, the special effects here are unique and made with a technique all their own. "Spy Kids style". Very good.
MUSIC: Is it just me, or was the EXACT SAME music from the first film just recycled? No, it wasn't me. This was quite a disappointment, becase the score for the first film was great and I was looking for some exiting, new material. Oh well.
CONCLUSION: Now don't get me wrong, Spy Kids 2 is a good movie for the young and old. I really liked seeing some of my favorite characters return, it's just that this film seems a little disappointing compared to Spy Kids. I hope the final Spy Kids, which starts filming in November, is a little better.
MY GRADE: B+
64 An Amazing Collection of Film Talent!
Spy Kids 2 is an amazing movie with amazing special effects and an amazing plot.Picking up from a first movie could be hard because you have to live up to the last movie. The first movie as great as this one except the second one was much beter because you knew the characters.I don't like movies where they introduce the characters where as in the sequals they could just get right to the plot.
The bad thing about this movie(which is the reason I only gave it 4 stars)was that there were too many spy kids. What was better about the first one was that Carmen and Juni were the only spy kids and that made them special. In this one there is a whole unit of people called Spy Kids making them all just spies.Shorter spies.
The plot of the movie is not complex but everything is connected.I mean in the beginning something I thought useless to the movie would play an important part at the end of the movie. You'll see what I mean when you see it.
But all it all except for the slight downfall Spy Kids 2 The Island of Lost Dreams is a fun movie for both kids and parents alike.Steve Buscemi has always been a favorite actor of mine for his talents in Ghost World and Domestic Desturbance and he still didn't disappoint me with this movie.I don't want to ruin anything about the plot so go see this movie. It's worth the money.
ENJOY!
65 Great fun!
The sequel was just as good as the original if not better! Lots of new gadgets, great effects and dialogue. Fun for kids and parents alike. My nine year olds and I loved it- we highly recommend it!
66 Gadgets galore...
In my opinion, Spy Kids 2 has lots of improvements. 1. The gadgets. In the first Spy Kids, there were great gadgets but the ones on SK 2 are beyond imagination. Take for instance, the Nano Technology all-in-one multi gadget that you can wear on one wrist. 2. Double the action. This time, there are 4 spy kids actively involved in the mission. Lots of kicking butt. 3. Cool monsters. Imaginative monsters makes this movie much more exciting, kind of like Clash of the Titans. 4. Humor. Noticeably more humor in this one so expect lots of laughs. Overall, my son and I had great fun and I found it to be highly imaginative and creative. Hope there will be a Spy Kids 3 to come!e
67 Everything you would hope the sequel would be
Sequels are usually disappointing, and I am delighted to be able to report that this one is not. In fact, it builds and expands on the success of the first film. There are moments that are silly, and a few that are ill advised, but as a whole this film is as inventive, as entertaining, as funny, and as delightful as the original. I hope that Robert Rodriguez makes yet another sequel before the two central characters--played by Alexa Vega and Daryl Sabara--grow too old to play "kids."
Most of the elements that made the first film so successful are back: treacherous villains, colorful sets, whimsical technology, and improbable henchmen. There are even cameos by several from the first film, including Alan Cumming and Tony Shaloub. But the thing that made the first film so great, the incredible inventiveness (which should NOT be confused with special effects, since special effects more often than not curb inventiveness), is not only back, but made a major theme of the movie. Although equipped with a bevy of high tech gadgets, once the kids get to an island with a device the renders all their items inoperable, they are required to rely entirely on their wits. In the same way, Rodriguez is a master at getting the maximum out of every scene, using technology frequently, but never relying upon it instead of his wits.
The movie contains an extended homage to stop-motion animator Ray Harryhausen. Few individuals are as respected as Harryhausen as an animator. Before the advent of computer animation, his animation of various monsters and exotic creatures represented the apex of movie special effects. Interestingly, in SPY KIDS II, computer animation is used to produce creatures and monsters that movie and behave exactly like Ray Harryhausen creations. For instance, the Spider Monkey could have come straight out of many of Harryhausen's film. But the influence is more direct than that in this film. The skeleton warriors in this film are almost certainly borrowed directly from Harryhausen's famous skeleton warriors from JASON AND THE ARGONAUTS, one of the highpoints in the history of onscreen special effects. I would be astonished to learn that Rodriguez did not intend these scenes as homages to Harryhausen.
This film is absolutely not for kids alone. Adults will enjoy this film every bit as much as any child. I highly recommend it.
68 Yet another imaginative kids movie!
Spy kids is back! It's a great family flick and although it gets sort of stretched out in the middle, it quickly catches up on the plot. What makes this movie worth the 5 stars? Well it's creative, fun, and funny. Rodriquez is getting really good now with a family film that has a great plot! One thing good about this movie is that (just like Rush Hour 2), the sequel is better than the original. Kids as well as adults will love the imaginative devices and the fact that it's a sci-fi kids film. Just like Austin Powers makes up a dirty-parody version of the James Bond movies, Spy Kids make up a kids version of the James Bond movies! The movie is enjoyable. Those of you who loved the original will enjoy this. I still prefer Monsters Inc. though! Okay fine-it doesn't have the extraordinary special effects!... But... It's worth watching on the big screen. It's fine piece of entertainment!
What's it about?: The world needs the help of two super agents once again. Carmen and Juni are back except this time their mystery involves a "mystical" island. They are fighting against their enemies once again. They stumble onto a (mad?) scientist and his "mystical" creatures! But this time the mission is harder. So hard that their WHOLE family has to tag along as super spies.
Kids will love this movie that features really cool parents and fascinating kids that are spies. It's one of the better movies of the summer. A little something for Lilo &Stitch fans! The adventure in this sequel is better than the original's plot and this time there are more spectacular devices to enjoy.

69 Actually, Quite Surprizing!
I have to admit, I wasn't really looking forward to this movie. The first movie was OK, a little annoying at times, but at least had the charm of originality. In watching the commercials for this flick I felt it was going to be just plain dumb. And, for about the first 30 minutes, it was. The plot was hokey, the characters were dumb, and the scene where all the spy kids attempt to fight all the "waitors" was silly. But after awhile it began to get interesting. The plot began to at least make sense (in a wierd sort of way), and all of a sudden you begin to look forward to the next twist. Some of the tongue-in-cheek scenes were rather amusing and the special effects, though not up to "Lord of the Rings" standards, were credible. It seemed to me that this movie was almost a tribute to those 1960's Sinbad movies and that the creatures were meant to resemble those. I have to say that I began to enjoy this movie tremendously. Also, this movie provided a first for me. While I like to sit through the credits in most cases I am usually the last one left when they're over. In this case, I only saw four people get up and leave during the credits. Between the "music video", the out-takes, and the final scenes, everyone stayed to see what would happen next. It was rather cool.
I would recommend this for all families. Again, the first 30 minutes or so might drag on the adults in the crowd but if you can survive that you are in for a treat.
70 Worth Seeing ...Maybe
The sequel was entertaining but, not as enjoyable as the original film; however, this was primarily due the uniqueness of the oringinal theme. As an independent story from the first, this film does hold some interest with new comic material. In particular, I enjoyed Antonio Banderas' role playing a stoic father deeply concerned about the missing children. The seriousness added to some of the films humor as the straight man complements the comic. This would be more appearling to the pre-teen crowd.
71 Like Spy Kids 1....'cept better.
I'm not a big fan of movie sequels, because they're made mostly for the buck and nearly always turn out rotten. But I've gotta say, "Spy Kids II" was a real swinger. (That's good.) Here's the basic plot:
The OSS now has a Spy Kids division, where kids do the dirty work adults can't. Carmen and Junie, the kids from the original movie, are some of the top spies. Also in this division are two troublemaker/brilliant kid spies who compete with them for different assignments. Through one thing or another, they end up on an island with large mutant creatures. Their mission? Get a transmooker device on the other side of the island and save the world...or something. Anyway, their parents find out, and go after them. Mix in the in-laws, and you've got a bizarre but really goofy plot that moves along really well.
Okay, that's just a small summary of the plot, but you get the basic idea. "Spy Kids II" turns out to be as funny..and creative...as the first movie. Even more so. It's not quite as weird as "Spy Kids I"...no mutant humans. Now mutant animals...well, that's just cool. So are the sophisticated high-tech gadgets. And the special effects...FANTASTIC. Also, Carmen and Juni get along much better, which is relief. Because the characters are already established, the storyline and the dialog of the movie seems to move along even better than "Spy Kids I". Gregorio's in-laws are a very nice touch, and it adds some pretty funny moments. The characters from the first movie, Floop and Minion, are also there, as well as Uncle Felix ("I'm not your uncle.") and Machete. This seems to make it flow easily from one movie to the next. And, of course, with moments like the theme park and the dance scene, (the ballet part, oh, I died laughing) it offered many laugh-out-loud for the audience to enjoy.
As for the cons of the movie, there weren't very many. The camara shots are kind of jumpy and jerky, like the first movie. Being a storyboard artist, I liked that, but I know that it gave some people headaches. The plot is a little confusing..you're not quite sure who knows what or how they found out unless you pay close attention, but nothing major. And the telepathy scene...why did they have that? It was kind of pointless. I wonder if there was more to that originally before the editing process. And, in the credits they have Carmen doing a teeni-bopper thing. Boy, speaking of pointless...
These are just minor things, of course. There were tips of the hat to "Jason and the Argonauts," "Indiana Jones," and "Jurrassic Park." It wasn't crude or especially violent (Though the skeleton part and the fighting mutant animals might scare some little kids.) there was hardly any swearing ... Overall, this was a delightful and witty movie that entertained the whole family.
Bottom line: If you liked "Spy Kids I", see "Spy Kids II", because it's even better. ...
72 Awesome movie!
Just saw this movie today and I have to say that in my opinion it's better than the first movie! Those crazy spy kids are back with their parents and now grandparents. Uncle Felix is back (or as his portrayer, Cheech Marin says, "I'm not your Uncle Felix!"), as well as a few other characters! Though these characters screen appearance is brief but they are still in the film. And I have to say it is nice to see Ricardo Montelbon in the movie! I don't want to give the plot or any part of the movie away so I'll just say that the special effects were fantastic, the movie was quite humorus, kept me laughing. My daughter and her friend (both 9) loved the movie as well!
This movie is for the entire family. Parents will enjoy this just as much as their kids! I would have to say there there were quite a lot of parents in the theater that I was in today and I even saw several adults coming in without children!
It's pretty easy to figure out what is going on in the movie (they don't give much away in the trailers so I really can't go into the complete details - not my rules) but you will still enjoy yourself.
One more thing, make sure to sit through the entire credits, don't just get up and walk out as there is still some stuff to see during the credits.
Take the family, take the kids & their friends, or if you're an adult take yourself but this is a fun enjoyable movie for everyone!
73 As good as the first
Spy Kids 2 is a spectacular time at the movies. Continuing a first movie in a series can be tough, but when you've got enjoyable characters and non-stop action in the sequel, it's hard to not want more. The movie is funny, dialogue clever, special effects dazzling, and characters enjoyable. If you're a fan of the first Spy Kids, this is highly recommended.
74 Looks Awesome!
As a Big Fan of Spy Kids number one, because it appealed to me and because it had some GREAT visual effects, this one looks just as good as the first one, if not better.
BE SURE TO SEE IT AUGUST Seventh!
