As a Holistic Practitioner, I'm concerned about the advice to eat raw animal meat, especially since it can create imbalance in your energy system to consume animal meat raw.

However, I am a believer in an Alkaline body for maintaining wellness and also curing disease, but I would warn only to eat vegtables, fruit, seeds and beans in raw form.

2 Buyer Beware! Raw meat kills
This author recommends eating raw meat, raw milk, and raw eggs for some of her 'miracle cures'. Raw meat and dairy can kill you (cooked meat and dairy can too, but that's another book!). Don't take my word for it, click on the book cover and look at the index- you will find 'egg yolk for arthritis' and 'milk, raw' and 'milk for weight loss, raw'.

Ph Miracle and Ph Miracle for Diabetes are pretty good books. But one thing to keep in mind is that you need to be Ph *balanced*. Don't take alkilinity too far. Just as there are negative effects from acidosis, there are also negative effects from alkalinosis, though it is much more difficult in western society to be over-alkaline than it is to be overly-acidic.

The Ph of your saliva and urine should be slightly acidic at 6.4. That is what is balanced for humans.

Read about acidity and alkilinity in the book "Prescription for Nutritional Healing: A Practical A-Z Reference to Drug-Free Remedies Using Vitamins, Minerals, Herbs, and Food Supplements". This book is a wonderful reference for health and has never lied to me. After reading about those 2 topics in this book, you will be better able to tell the truth from a crock of raw meat in any Ph book.
3 Nutrition for Everyone
The Acid Alkaline Balance Diet, unlike other self/help health books, is based on the lifetime experiences of the author and of the hundreds of people she has helped. Through these experiences she has discovered the cause of degenerative disease and the diets that can cure it. She describes a simple self-test which reveals what diet best suits the individual's digestive metabolism. The book also describes a method of preparing potatoes which have the effect of reducing food cravings.

The foods recommended for each type are wide ranging and include a lot of raw foods. The grain eater's diet consists not only of grains but also of fish and chicken, and even red meat occasionally. And while the meat eater's metabolism requires a lot of red meat, the meat eater can also eat fish and chicken and some grain.

This is the best way to use the book. Read the beginning three chapters which describe the cause of acid reflux and other digestive problems, the remedies that can cure it, and the self test which points to the appropriate diet plan. Since these chapters are followed by those which cover all the major degenerative diseases, you can then turn to the chapter that deals with your health problem(s), if you have any. I have a lot more energy since I've tried the ideas recommended by the author for my metabolic type.
4 Offers many solutions to common ailments
This is an excellent book on the subject of acid/alkaline balance in the body. The author obviously has many case studies and experience to draw on in dealing with patients using the "alkalizing" cure. The chapters deal with different ailments and provide remedies for each. Best of all, she's not trying to market her own line of nutritional products throughout the book. There are dozens of recommended supplements, foods and other products, and a list of where to obtain them. I definitely recommend this book to anyone looking for a cure, not for the symptoms but for the disease. Any student of natural health needs this book on the bookshelf. Especially nice is how some folk remedies are explained so that you understand how they actually function in the body. By the way, I took the niacin test and I'm a meat eater, not surprising for a Blood Type O.
5 Very Informative Health Book With Great Healthy Advice
The Acid Alkaline Balance Diet was a revelation to me. It's a book which should be read by everyone who is interested in main-taining or improving their health. I became interested in the acid alkaline ph balance when I developed acid reflux. I tried remedies recommended in other books, such as eating foods high in alkaline minerals and avoiding acid-forming foods. Nothing worked. And then I read The Acid Alkaline Balance Diet, and I knew I had hit upon a book that spoke the truth. One of the truths in this book is that diet should be suited to the digestive type of the individual. I took the simple self-test recommended in the book, found outthat I was a meat eater, and began eating the foods listed in the book for my metabolic type.

My acid reflux vanished within two weeks. I then tried the author's semi-raw potato recipe because I needed to scale down my appetite so I could stay on the diet. It worked! I no longer get a craving for food at night so I don't binge out.

This book is not only full oforiginal thinking and good information, but very readable, with fascinating case histories of individuals who have healed themselves by following Kliment's dietary suggestions. It should be required reading in all of the educational institutions in this country.

6 Alkalize or Die... It's True!!!
I have read and re-read this book until some of the pages are tattered! What Dr. Baroody is telling us is to clean up our act. If we all took as good a care of our bodies as we do our automobiles we could probably live to be 120 like the Hunzas. I have Crohn's disease and this book is my 'bible for health'. All of us, every human being on earth, must get their bodies alkaline! Cancer cells CAN'T live in an alkaline environment! All kinds of ailments are chewing away at our insides and we just keep feeding our body acids. Get this book NOW, and use it!!
7 All You Need For Better Health
This is the best book I've ever read on the impact of diet on health. The author targets the real cause of degenerative disease: acid waste from inappropriate diet. She outlines a simple self test which reveals what foods are appropriate for the individual.
Her diets include all types of foods but in different proportions depending on your metabolic type. Each metabolic type (grain eater and meat eater) is allowed a small amount of foods assigned to the opposite metabolic type. For example, she recommends that the grain eater eat a lot of fish and poultry but that the meat eater eat fish and poultry in much smaller increments. Another example of this is her proposal that the grain eater should consume a lot of green leafy veggies while she emphasizes root vegetables for the meat eater. I like this approach because, by eating all types of food you get the whole range of nutrients the body needs to function properly.
Kliment's book, along with Sang Wang's book, Reverse Aging, which provides good background information on acid alkaline pH factors-- is all the reader needs to take control of his/her body and attain a good state of health and mental well being.
8 HOW THIS AUTHOR SAVED MY LIFE
I took the Niacin Test suggested by the author and found out that I was eating the wrong foods and I switched from grains to meats. As the test indicated I should and have felt much better ever since. there is more good information packed into this book than in any other alternative health book I've read.
9 You Are what you Eat
The "Acid Alkaline Balance Diet" is a great source of useful information, filling many of the gaps left by other authors of books on nutrition. Felicia Kliment gives a balanced discussion of other approaches, and demonstrates why her program works. She presents her encyclopedic knowledge in a way that is easy and enjoyable for the reader to absorb.

This book goes well beyond what the title would suggest. It gives us an informative overview of how individual needs should determine diet. It also gives detailed directions in how to accomplish this. There are different metabolic types, possible food allergies, etc. We get to understand the inner workings of our bodies. For example, the discussion about enzyme activity in the digestive process, cuts through the confusion that I had in this area.

In Part II, we get an analysis of various ailments and diseases, with suggestions on how to treat these conditions by the intelligent intake of the proper foods for each individual case. We are also taught how to prevent and cure the toxicity in our bodies, which is the primary cause of degenerative disease.

I was pleasantly surprised at the scope and the detail of this book. I also found helpful the summary/list of clear suggestions that she included in various sections. Vitamins, minerals, herbs, and other modalities are listed in an easily accessible format. I highly recommend this book to anyone wanting a balanced and useful approach to healing diets.
