1 EXCELLENT BOOK TO MAINTAIN WEIGHT LOSS
I bought this book recently. I have learnt a lot about Glycemic Index and how to eat the right foods and which foods fill you up without wanting to eat a lot. Excellent book and everyone should read it. I have suggested this book to all my friends who want to eat healthy foods and keep up their energy.
2 Great book
For the first time in my life I have lost weight and managed to keep it off using this book. 15 pounds and counting. The best part is that I don't feel hungry or cranky. I have recommended this book to friends and relatives.
3 Dry, boring and flavorless....
This book was really hard to choke down. I've lost 120 pounds by counting calories (and kept it off for 1 1/2 years thank you) and was trying to find new ways to "shake up" my diet without excluding entire food groups the way Atkins does. But I didn't want to starve on a low-fat diets either. So I thought the G-Index diet sounded like a good idea. But after reading the book, inspecting the 21-day suggested meal plan, and absorbing the recipes I've come to a conclusion. This diet is just a really low fat, low calorie diet in disguise! On the GI diet you are allowed to eat 100% whole grain breads, and you can't have dried fruits, bananas, carrots or popcorn. (But then later the author goes on to explain you actually CAN have those foods in small quantities.) If you strip away the very small handful of high glycemic foods you can't eat, you simply have a very low fat/low calorie diet.
And, the diet seems incredibly strict. For example, one lunch meal that was suggested reads: 4 Rye crackers, 1/2 a cup of cottage cheese, 1 cup bell pepper strips and a cup of cantaloupe. One typical breakfast reads: 1 slice of bread, 1 tbsp peanut butter, 1/2 cup orange juice & 1/2 cup of skim milk. I don't know about you but I'd STARVE on that!?
I didn't like the guy's boring *SNORE* writing style and by the end of it, I didn't believe in what he was telling me. It left me feeling very skeptical. The reason for the two stars was because I'm sure if you followed the plan you'd lose weight. I mean, who wouldn't?? He has a grown man on an 1,800 calorie diet!
4 Great & Easy Diet Plan
I've been on the diet for a week and I've lost 6.6 pounds. The recipes are great! Easy to make and taste great. I'm not hungry or craving anything I'm not suppose to eat! I highly recommend this.
5 G-Index Diet
The G-Index diet makes weight loss easy. The program is user friendly, simple and very easy to follow. I have been recommending this book to my weight loss clients for many years because of its effectiveness, simplicity and informative style.
The best part is that all of the foods include a wide variety in all food groups and are commonly available in the local grocery store. Most of my clients really like the fact that it also allows for some carbohydrates.

6 A Good Book
This is a good book on a healthy way of life that is pretty far from the average (North) American diet. It has lists of the common foods and their Glycemic Index, plus recipes. It isn't strict to the point of ridiculousness as some diet books are. The authors provide a good, sound philosophy on the advantages of the Low Glycemic Diet. My only complaint is that there was too much testimonial on the benefits of the diet and examples of people's weight loss stories and not enough solid information on the glycemic index of various foods. All in all, though, a good book.
7 Great book!
Very easy to follow and I love diet books that include good recipes!!! This is a complete book - it tells you about the diet, then has recipes, shopping lists, and all sorts of tables for reference. Everything you need is here!
8 FINALLY A WELL BALANCED DIET
This book is right on the money. A well balanced diet that is SO EASY to follow. Not only are the meals great to eat, but your full all the time. (I actually started to think that I was overeating!) The meals are pretty easy to make, and the author encloses a weekly grocery list for your convience. The book outlines a complete diet for three weeks including recipes. This can't be made any easier. The G-Index book was recommended on a website for thyroid problems. Losing weight is near to impossible when you have a sluggish thyroid, however, while on this diet I have lost 5 poinds in two weeks! This is one to defintely recommend to all your friends!
9 medically sound and interesting to read
As someone who has studied Nutrition and Physiology, it was really refreshing to read a "diet" book based on medical knowledge rather than dangerous food fads. It refined my knowledge of the glycemic indexes of various foods and has great ideas for snacking, cooking, and eating out. Try the apple-oat muffins, they're easy to bake and yummy to munch!
10 A diet for athletes
This book is so good for someone involved in sports because it allows you to eat foods that will stay with you for long exercise times as well as getting you where you should be after exercise
11 The best diet I have ever tried
I think this diet is easy to follow, and it works. My husband lost 17 pounds in one month when we first tried it, I lost seven pounds. The food is great, and everything is spelled out for you, right down to your grocery list. A lot of my friends are trying it now too!
12 Finally something that is simple and makes sense!
I really enjoy reading books on healthy eating and The G-Index Diet is a very good book. If your tired of all the fad diets of no carbs and all protein or all of the others this will help you tremendously. It is the healthiest and most sound diet book I have read to date and I read quite a few just to keep up on the latest find for keeping wieght off. After I finish reading a book about eating recommendations I try to find one similar to it so that I can figure out which points I agree with and which ones I can live with. The Good Calorie Diet is a very good choice to read along with The G-Index Diet but I feel that the G-Index Diet is a better book and much easier to adapt to everyday living and eating.
13 Godsend for those who are hypothyroid!
I was diagnosed with Hashimoto's Thyroiditis (hypothyroidism) two years ago. I have tried all of the low-fat high carb diets and just gained weight. Because of how my body now handles insulin and the glycemic values of foods, I have to follow a diet such as this. The results: I have been on the diet for 6 weeks and have lost 10 lbs. On previous diets there was no weight loss. To all of those who are hypothyroid it's not us, it's how we eat! This is a lifestyle change. It has not been hard either.
14 It's changed my life and how I relate to food.
I had tried every kind of diet ever published. I lost weight then gained it back. Then as I got older, it was even harder to lose weight no matter how few calories I ate. This book helped to to understand how certain foods make you fat. I've adopted a low-glycemic diet and have lost 8 lbs. in about 6 weeks. It was effortless, and it's a lifestyle and diet I can stay on forever.
If you are desperate to lose weight and maintain a healthy, long-term life lifestyle, you must read this book--then put it into practice! It's easy
15 One of the best nutrition books out there.
Dr. Podell's book paved the way for me to lose pounds effortlessly that I have always carried. It is true that the G-Index of foods are what makes you fat. Thank you Dr. Podell for finally bringing hope to a person that did not lose weight on 900 calorie diet. Now on your 1200 cal diet I am losing weight and have the energy to even start to work out.
