1 Since I Like Lizzie McGuire.... this is what i say
Lizze McGuire is about a teenage girl, named Lizzie McGuire. She is like most typical girls. She is worried about how people think of her, scared of popular girls, etc., but she is a kind person who likes to help out and do good. At times, she is crazy, but her friends, Gordo and Miranda are always there to help her. Her family, which Lizzie sometimes hate, is there for her. However, Lizzie has times when she is thankful to have to family. Her brother, Matt, can sometimes be annoying, but Lizzie and him sometimes get along.... This show is middle school based type of show. The whole family can watch it. The first 22 episodes are on the DVD... they are the good ones because Hilary (Lizzie) was younger. I like some of her younger shows better than her recent ones!

I was disappointed at the features that the DVD provided. There were only 3 features and when they interviewed the cast....... there was only Lalaine (Miranda), Jake Thomas (Matt), Ethan (Clayton Snyder), and Kate (Ashlie B...)... where was Hilary Duff and Adam Lamberg? They were not there!

Since I like Lizzie McGuire, I enjoyed this DVD.
If you do not like Hilary Duff, don't watch it.
If you do not like Lizzie Mcguire, don't watch it.

2 I love this series and the DVD is great as well...
I love the Lizzie McGuire series! I have loved it ever since it first premiered on the Disney Channel and it will alway be one of my favorites. It is cheesy at times but you don't really notice it because of the entertainment that surrounds it. Hilary Duff and the whole cast do extremely good jobs and any fan of Lizzie McGuire, Hilary Duff, Lalaine or Adam Lamberg ext will love this set and show because they all do superb jobs in them. I sincerely hope that they release a Volume 2/Season 2 box set soon because I know i'll be out to buy it within the first week of release, I really want to own the whole series. Their are 22 episodes and their entilted as and in this order:

Lalaines chosen episode to do the commentary on is 'Episode 21: Rated Aargh!'.
Ashlie Brillaults chosen episode to do the commentary on is 'Episode 15: Night Of The Day Of The Dead'.
Clayton Snyders chosen episode to do the commentary on is 'Episode 9: I Do, I Don't'.

4 Lizzie DVDs done right
I was mildly disappointed when the earlier Lizzie McGuire DVDs came out, because they included only a few randomly selected episodes and virtually no bonus features...it was like they were rushing to get something on the market to keep up with the trend of releasing TV shows on DVD.

Now, with this box set, Disney has done it right. First, EVERY EPISODE will eventually be in the set. This first set of 4 DVDs contains every one of the first 22 episodes. I prefer the chronological arrangement of episodes to the thematic arrangement that they were trying earlier.

While there could be a FEW more bonus features included with this, is far outdoes the earlier release. An optional audio commentary for a few of the episodes features several of the castmembers (no Hilary) reflecting on what it was like to film the episode. It's fun to hear their playful banter as they watch the episode with you, and it provides a little window into the real feelings of the real actors.

And as for the series itself, you can't do any better for heartwarming, funny, harmless family television. Parts of it are cheesy, parts are very intelligent and witty. There are some fantastic actors (especially gifted are Lizzie's parents, Matt, and Gordo...Jake Thomas and Adam Lamberg both have solid careers ahead of them). And I love Hilary, of course. This is a great way to unwind after a stressful day when you're not in the mood for something super intense, like Schindler's List or something, but want something that is smart and touching. Lizzie will make you laugh and smile. It's a picture of a sweeter, simpler, nicer world.

Oh, and by the way, you can get this for $35 ($5 cheaper) at Target. Not a big difference, but it can help a little.

6 Nice Box Set
No, Lizzie McGuire isn't a life changing show, but it is a fun show and I was glad to see Disney decide to make a box set. As box sets go, it's pretty good. We get some extras featuring cast members including commentary and a short featurette. Hilary herself doesn't partcipate but unless she suddenly decides to embrace the show that made her famous, her participation isn't likely on any future projects either. I don't mind her absence but hardcore Hilary fans might.

Some have said the commentaries aren't very informative but what do you expect from a group of teenagers who are also close friends. Kids won't care how much information they learn but rather that the kids on the show seem to have genuine friendships and fond memories of the show that started their careers. They are having fun and that is all that matters. I do wish there were some additional commentaries and perhaps an extended blooper reel, but maybe we'll see that on volume 2.
7 Lizzie McGuire...dosent suck
Lizzie McGuire...well the thing that comes to mind when people say that is Hilary Duff, and alot of people hate her. I am one who dosent. This show for me is one of those shows that you can watch the same episode quite alot of times and you dont really get sick of it.
I watch the box set quite alot. I dont get sick of it!
This is no Dawson's Creek (another show I like) but its like a Dawson's for kids. It dosent deal with the depressing sides of being a 13 yr old, but it deals with some of the stuff.
Its a entertaining sometimes cheesy show but it is also funny and has alot of heart.
Give it a try whatever age you are, there may be somehting u might like!
Its a pretty good show considering itson Disney channel a channel mainly showing repeats of movies they showed last night ,cartoons and Raven.
The people giving this show bad reviews are obviously a bit old for this show, they find it stupid! Its really not that stupid as I said before just give it a try chances are the people giving this show bad reviews have only seen like a couple of episodes if not just 5 mins!
AND HILARY DUFF ISNT A BAD ACTRESS.
8 It gets a bad rap, but it's actually a good show
Lots of critics (including one on this site, so far) like to put this show down, calling it shallow and empty. They're not really being fair to it. Sure, it takes place in a peaceful suburban junior high school where the worst "student crimes" for the principal to deal with are a food fight in the cafeteria and the breaking of the statue of a former principal; this may or may not be "realistic" for your own school experiences, depending on whether or not you instead attended the sort of school that has metal detectors to prevent guns and knives, and students prone to drug dealing, pregnancy, and suicide. You won't find any of that in this show, and why is this such a terrible thing? I have no problem with there being other TV shows, movies, books, and the like which do address these sorts of "heavy" issues, but what's wrong with there also being some lighter, more escapist entertainment? The producers of Lizzie McGuire set out to make a G-rated children's program for the Disney Channel, and they did a very good job at what they did.

Sure, the characters have a certain amount of shallowness to their personalities and tastes; would they be realistic portrayals of teenagers if they didn't? The show's producers seem to have anticipated the sorts of criticism the characters would get, as they sometimes have characters in the show itself voice similar objections, especially Gordo, who often tries to talk Lizzie and Miranda into being a little less "teenybopperish".

While the characters do act in a shallow way sometimes, that doesn't mean they're shallowly defined; there's actually a good deal of depth and complexity to the personalities and relationships of the characters on this show, something that has been the springboard for a vigorous online fan fiction community, something only a handful of TV shows has developed.

In addition to the characters, the show has also developed a very distinctive look, feel, and sound, and also makes extensive and clever use of pop cultural references that go well beyond the expected mentions of current-day teen pop to encompass things from every decade from the '50s on, and background music from classic rock to classical.

At any rate, this DVD collection is the first of an expected three volumes, covering 22 of the 65 episodes of the series. It mostly consists of the first episodes in production order (which differs from the order of airing, as the Disney Channel has a habit of scrambling episode order), but there are two episodes from the first 22 which are inexplicably substituted out in favor of others that are actually later. There are commentaries on three of the episodes by cast members (unfortunately excluding Hilary Duff), and a few more bonus features. For a fan of the show who wants a well-organized episode collection, this is a good buy.
9 A Great show and a great DVD for fans
I thought this was a great DVD and great tv show. This show you can really relate to.I am not some little like nine-year old saying this. Mostly during the second season it had a lot of things I could relate to as well as a few episodes from the first season. While many haters of the show thinks this is like sugarcoated or something about someone's life. Did you ever once consider that maybe a person does have this life? I mean not everyone cusses up a storm, has perverted thoughts, and their main goal in high school is to get laid. This show did identfy with a lot of things and each episode was great to watch even many people's not so favorite episode "Those Freaky McGuires". People could identify with Lizzie because well a lot of what happened in Lizzie's life might have happened in their's. I mean sure you might have more friends then Lizzie and maybe a couple more siblings, and maybe a ste-mom or a stepdad but its the situations that you can identify and that's all that really matters. This isn't some big soap opera where everything goes wrong. This is life, you can have good days. Nor is this Dawson's Creek or any other overdosed sex teen series. If someone wants to bash a tv show why not at one of those teen shows? I mean that is just the same crap repeated over and over and over and over again. Yet people enjoy it. I don't understand that aboutt people. How they could watch such shows like that. This show is a must see.

The DVD although not stacked with bonus featres was still a great DVD. They had the commentaries that I could just sit there and laugh the entire time they talk about the episode and they also had the Cash Dishes the Dirt, where Lalaine, Jake Thomas, Clayton Snyder, and Ashlie Brillault, talk a little bit about how the series affected them and even the day they went to try out. They even visited the outside of Lizzie's school. Although I enjoyed both of these featres, it fell a little short without Hilary and Adam. I would have really enjoyed their commentary on each episode. Let's just hope that when the future Volume 2 will have Adam on it. If we can't have Hilary, lets at least have Adam. Especially since season two mainly envolves Lizzie and Gordo and their L/G storylines. Now it did fall a little short again with having on 22 of the 31 episodes. But hey its Di$ney.

I know a lot of people may have the series recorded on tapes but lets think about this you might have 10 maybe 15 tapes containing the entire series, and maybe commercial breaks. Wheras you could trade in all those tapes in for four DVD disks, with bonus featres. And commentary on five episodes. And let's not forget the picture on the DVD, it is much cleaner then TV. And it doesn't have the Disney Channel logo at the bottom with annoying little popups on something Disney Channel is going to air or whats going on over on Disney Channel's website. Then with the annoying voiceover of them telling you about a movie they are going to show next at the end credits. On the DVD it wil also have clean cuts where commercial breaks are taken. If I were you I would spring for the DVD instead. It's better and it saves space.
10 Bad = School, Badder = school finals,Baddest=LIZZIE MCGUIRE
I can safely assume that most of the reviewers of this product are kids who probably haven't even had their voices change yet and find this Greek tragedy of a show to be a delightful find because, supposedly, "no one understands you" and this show somehow captures the mystery that is you by stuffing it with tired stereotypes and the people who had the gall to tack on a statement that states: "Real kids just like you."

"Lizzie McGuire" is basically about the mishaps and everyday encounters with the good, the bad, and the ugly while living with her perfect little suburbanite family and having 2 best friends by her side (and ONLY two friends.) For some reason or another, people find this show to come dangerously close to the gritty realism that is adolescence simply because they mention puberty a couple of times in the show. However, no premise can be complete without the arch-nemesis, the opposite of Lizzie's own supposed sublime and sweet personality: another blonde, this one taller, by the name of Kate, who takes sick pleasure in ridiculing Lizzie with stupid insults, laughable (in the bad way) put downs, and occasional flaunts of her popularity in Lizzie's face. In reality, this is probably not would happen should you attend an average middle school. In truth, there is no one definite popular girl that resides over the rest, and they would also be much too lazy to make fun of you, they have better things to do, like check their makeup or talk about their next prey (guys) to tackle and pounce on.

Oh, but wait, we can't have a show about teenagers without that poetic fantasy known as love... or something like it. Like in countless clones predecessing "Lizzie McGuire," the school heartthrob is, once again, a clueless idiot with his head in the clouds and yet somehow managed to matriculate grade school. But does that matter to the fawning girls? No! His good looks are enough to stabilize inner fantasies to be his girlfriend and hopefully, wife and doormat.

Lizzie's best friends are Miranda and Gordo. Miranda (Lalaine) is a Lizzie clone, save for the blondness and slightly edged with more attitude and strength. The character is also badly acted--Lalaine seems to try too hard by emphasizing her lines with too much intensity or something. Gordo (Adam Lamburg) is the guy (because the writers had to stuff one somewhere) who has an unfortunate name; if you know Spanish, you know what I'm talking about. He is a bit more of a welcoming face but again, the writers seem to think to only make it fair to level out the ditziness of Lizzie and Miranda with Gordo's witty intelligence. Also, why is there always a trio? What's the obsession with threes?

Lizzie's family is a painful stereotype. The father is another clueless family man who means well, the mother is the overbearing woman in charge of everything, and the brother is a trouble-making annoying goof. How many times has this picture been painted, and why is it continually being portrayed when we're all aware that we only know, perhaps, 2 people in real life with a family like that? It also endorses some sort of reference to 1950's sexual politics: Daddy is the breadwinner while Mommy stays home and tends to the kids and house. It's almost laughable.

Hilary Duff herself is just a bad actress. The occasional upset faces she puts on are hilariously phony and just overall... blah. Somehow she got lucky with the show and America loves little teenager blondes (the Olsen twins) so she seemingly decides to use that popularity to start a singing career and a whole bunch of other stuff. But then again, its probably wise on her part to do so. She should invest on the moment as much as she can before her 15 minutes are up and she becomes another former child star burnout.

Overall, this show is just bad. The stories, the situations, its just too bland and about as deep as a wad of spit. The characters aren't that well-rounded, they have only a few defining traits. It doesn't even try to tap into the huge well that is growing up--there's really no angst, there's no emotional complexities, there's no moodiness. I'm not saying turn it into a "Dawson's Creek" - this could be a good show if they incorporate some of the aforementioned into it while still retaining humor (GOOD humor would be nice) and even playful satire. But its not, the writers thought they obviously knew what to say when they decided to shape out another blonde cut-out with her thoughts revealed to the whole world (and thats just the good thoughts, oh no don't say the dirty stuff we all know girls think too). I give this sham 2 stars because while its painful to view, the unrealistically glammed-up characters manage to mercifully ward you away from whats going on by making you think, "Ooh, I like her blouse, where can I get that?"
11 Finally The 1st Season Of Lizzie McGuire on DVD!!!

13 A cute kids show... Lizzie Mcguire
Let me tell you, I only watched this because Hilary Duff is in it. This is the first set of three volumes, and contains all 22 episodes from seasons 1 which include:
DISC 1
Pool Party(Pilot)- 4.5/5 Lizzie and Miranda are invited to the coolest party, except Lizzie's parents won't let her because it's her aunts birthday, but Miranda can go. Gordo isn't invited. I think it was a very cute episode, and Gordo's and Lizzie's interaction is great.

Picture Day- 4.5/5 Lizzie has to go wearing an incredibly embarrassing shirt for picture day. I don't know about those kids, but I though she looked super cute. I didn't think it was that bad, but what do you expect from a kids show. Well, I don't expect much from any show really.

Rumors- 4/5 Lizzie says a no no about Kate to Miranda and Miranda accidentally sends it to all her classmates when her computer messes up. War enrages when Miranda tells Kate that she was the one that wrote it, to protect Lizzie. Poor Lizzie, so shy. I really felt for her.

I've got Rhythmic- 4.5/5 This is a good one. The first appearence from Larry Tudgeman, when he helps Kate to try and bring down Lizzie at the one thing she is good at... Rhythmic Gymnastics. Also known as the world's geekiest sport, but Kate gets jealous anyway.

When Moms Attack- 5/5 This is hilarious! Lizzie and her class get to go on a vacation, but the chaperone is no longer able to make it, so they get a replacement at the last second... Lizzie's mother. You have to watch this one, I love the war between boys and girls. Go GIRLS! Hey, I happen to like them, despite myself being a guy. I probably could have phrased that better to make more sense.

Jack of all Trades- 4.5/5 Gordo finds out from an aptitude test that he is doomed to become a blackjack dealer. And with his science teacher giving him B's in everything he does, he is convinced that he is doomed to that career. But, appearences aren't everything, and to be truthful, is Gordo really doing the excellent work he can? So, he decides to ask Lizze to switch projects with him. Lizzie gets a C- on hers, which is now Gordo's.

DISC 2
Misadventures in Babysitting- 4.5/5 Lizzie convinces her parents that she is old enough to babysit Matt, but she finds out that it is too much for her to handle. Meanwhile, her father gets permission from Lizzie's mother to go back and check on the kids, only to find that the kids think he is a burgular and is trying to break in. It's pretty funny, actually!

Election- 4.5/5 Here comes Lizzie, the politician. She is so convincing, go Hilary!!

I Do, I Don't- 5/5 The whole class gets to get married as a class project, Kate gets married to... Larry Tudgeman, Lizzie "The Lawyer" gets married to Gordo "The Trashman" and Miranda gets married to Ethan "the surgeon". Brilliant idea for an episode. It's fantastic!! Meanwhile, Lizzie spends all her time worrying about Ethan, wishing she was paired with him. Kate is in her own world, hoping to win the best marriage by herself(like that will work) and Ethan has double-timed Miranda and is going to dump her for Kate at the presentation thing.

The Untitled Stan Jensen Project- 4.5/5 When Gordo finds out he has a good shot at directing, but he finds out to be a good director, you are going to have to be a little mean, even to his friends.

Between a Rock and a Bra Place- 4.5/5 Lizzie and Miranda get embarrassed by Kate, her mother and a cute English teacher while shopping for their first bras. Only telling their parents that they are going to get school supplies, but that fails majorly.

DISC 3
Come Fly with Me- 4.5/5 Gordo is always finding something different then everything else, and his latest trend is following the Rat Pack era. But he is unable to be a cd one day and asks Lizzie to get it for him after school. The next day, Ethan finds Lizzie with that cd, plays it and decides he likes it and that makes it the next big thing at the school. Gordo goes off to flying planes as his next, quoted by him, "boring hobby".

Random Acts of Miranda- 5/5 Miranda is chosen to be the lead character in a play, to which Lizzie has to review. Only, Miranda is terrible and knocks down absolutely everything on the set.

Lizzie's Nightmare- 4.5/5 Lizzie is so excited when Ethan asks her to sit with him at lunch. He is bringing in the cool new kid, Matt Bond, which happens to be her brother.

Night of the Day of the Dead- 4/5 Miranda/Gordo/Lizzie/Matt and Miranda's parents all team up to make Kate the victim at a Hallowe'en party. Love the ending.

Obsession- 4.5/5 Lizzie gets obsessed with recycling and it becomes her new hobby. And she starts being kinda of mean to Miranda and Gordo.

DISC 4
Lizzie Strikes Out- 4.5/5 Lizzie's father has started to feel left out of Lizzie's life, so he plans to have dinner with her on Friday night, the same night, Ethan and his friends have agreed to go bowling with Lizzie and her friends. Meanwhile, Gordo tries to overcome his fear of bowling. It is a happy episode, I like it a lot!!

Here Comes Aaron Carter- 4.5/5 Obvious what it is about. Lizzie and her pals and Matt sneak in to see Aaron. Can't say I like this guy too much anymore, two-timer. Not that I ever really liked him, just, now I hate him.

Sibling Bonds- 4.5/5 Matt does a horrible magic trick that leaves Lizzie and himself tied together, while their parents hold the key until they resolve all thier, "issues". This was good.

Gordo and the Girl- 4.5/5 Lizzie and Miranda find themselves really missing Gordo, when he finally gets a girlfriend. Especially Lizzie.

Rated Aargh!- 5/5 The new best movie is out that every kid has scene except Lizzie, Gordo and Miranda, except it is rated R. And no, their parents won't let them go. So, back up plan is, sneak in. Only, that doesn't work out so well. It is pretty hilarious.

Educating Ethan- 4.5/5 Duh, can I just say, Ethan=dumb. Gordo tries to tutor Ethan so he can get some money to buy a stereo, but he finds that his method of tutoring isn't quite working, while Lizzie's is working perfect. Ethan wants Lizzie to tutor him, but Lizzie doesn't want to hurt Gordo's feelings, even though he was being mean to them.

Overall, this was a good first 22 episodes. They were no really bad episodes, but nothing that really stood out. And it does have some high points like: Rated Aargh, I do, I don't, Random Acts of Miranda, Sibling Bonds and Pool Party.

On the Cover-
The Front- Lizzie, think that is obvious from the picture above
The Back- Lizzie and Kate
Cover of discs 1 & 2- Lizzie
Cover of discs 3 & 4- Gordo and Miranda
Disc 1- Lizzie
Disc 2- Ethan
Disc 3- Matt
Disc 4- Miranda

The pics are nothing fancy. Just regular pics combined with colorful backgrounds, they still are appealing though.

Audio Commentaries- 2/5 On episodes-
I Do, I Don't(which is Clayton Snyder's pick for best episode) Night of the Day of the Dead(Ashlie Brillault(Kate)'s pick)
and Rated Aargh!(Lalaine(Miranda)'s pick)

All those 3 and Jake Thomas(Matt) gather together to comment on those episodes. Let me tell you, they spend more time hanging and chatting then talking about the episode. No wonder they left Hilary out of it, if I was there, I would have left too. Man, was that the most lame commentary they could come up with? Better to watch commentaries where the actors know what they are talking about, or just from the writers is best. It's a shame Hilary wasn't available for this, she would have been much more focussed and told us a lot more. But one thing you DO HAVE TO WATCH, is them singing the theme song. They are so bad, you would think they are drunk, it is so funny!!

The Cast Dishes the Dirt- 4.5/5 Now this is more like it. They talk about what it was like being on the set, hanging out with friends, some pretty funny momments, and they are all the same people who did the commentaries- including Jake Thomas, Lalaine, Clayton Snyder and Ashlie Brillault.

Get the Lizzie Look- 4.5/5 Funny they should mention that, because this basically follows Ashley Brillault(Kate) around and they look at things for Hilary and Lalaine, what their characters might wear in the future, and of course, stuff for Kate. Ashley is actually the exact opposite of Kate in real life, she is very nice. It was pretty fun following her around for about 5 minutes.

Makeup and Hair Secrets of the Stars: 4/5 And Ashlie's makeup stuff, lasts about 5 minutes, it's all right. Nothing really special though.

Overall, this is a must for any Hilary or Lizzie Mcguire fans. It's a great series and a good collection!! We need box sets 2 & 3, how could we live without them? And I didn't know it would turn out so long.
14 Lizzie Rocks
I'm 19 years old and I watched Lizzie on Disney since I was 15 years old. It reminds me of my days in middle school but I never had a crush on Aaron Carter. My favorite episodes in this box set are Pool Party, I Do I Don't, Come Fly with Me, Night of the Day of the Dead, and Rated Aargh!. This is a series that everyone can relate to going throught their teens. Everyone had the mean, popular girl like Kate in their school unless you were Kate. Or had fights with your little brother or sister like Lizzie and Matt. But my parents were not as dorky as Lizzie's parents. And had best friends like Miranda and Gordo and don't forget the hottest guy in school Ethan. Everyone has had a crush on someone like Ethan but maybe not as dumb. This tv show has a large age group of people who watch it like little kids to older adults. Out of all the shows on Disney this one is the best of all of them. The reason why Hilary Duff quit Lizzie McGuire was that she didn't want to just be known as Lizzie but she has accomplished a lot since the show she is now a singer and big screen star. Go Hilary!!!
15 Beautiful Girl
I'm not ashamed to admit that I own this set and watch it all the time, even though I am 49 years old! The biggest love of my life is the beautiful Olsen twins but Hilary comes very close to this ideal. Maybe if she had an identical twin.... Her show takes me back to the safe, happy time of my own childhood and all those thousands of hours I spent before the old Magnavox TV when I used to gaze lovingly at the feisty young Patty Duke and pretend I was part of her wonderful world of cheerful family life. Hilary is sooooooooo talented!!!!
16 You Will Fall In Love
I love Lizzie McGuire is amazing i don't indertand because the tv show end!
But it's ok!
Hilary is so beautiful and all the others artists are great!!

- Last Year's Model
- The Courtship of Miranda Sanchez
- Facts of Life
- Scarlett Larry
- Gordo's Video
- Gordo and the Dwarves
- Gordo's Bar Mitzvah
- Lizzie and Kate's Big Adventure

which those episodes plus some from season 2 will be featured on volume 2 of the DVD box set collection.

The rest of the season 2 episodes will be featured on volume 3.
However, these other two volumes are not guaranteed to be released. They will only be released if this volume 1 set sells good. So buy this volume 1 DVD box set if you want to see the entire Lizzie McGuire series out on DVD.

19 Season 1 is finally coming to DVD!
You've probably seen Lizzie McGuire on the Disney Channel. Finally, the first season is being released on DVD. This DVD will feature commentaries by Lalaine (Miranda Sanchez) and Clayton Snyder (Ethan Craft). Hopefully Disney will also release Season 2, since there were only 2 seasons made (65 episodes in all).

Quote of the Day:

It's hard to drive at the limit, but it's harder to know where the limits are.

-- Stirling Moss

forces which they identified as charm, persuasion, uncertainty and
bloody-mindedness.
