"It isn't what you eat or how much you eat that makes you fat, it is when you eat and what you eat together," announces this follow-up to the smash original Beverly Hills diet plan. In a switch from the original, this updated version gives day-to-day advice and support and a full 35-day menu plan that includes a more balanced diet that includes animal protein (the first 10 days of the original diet included nothing but fruit). There's no portion control or forbidden foods, ergo the book's mantra: "Cheesecake and cheekbones, hamburgers and hipbones." Enthusiastic and encouraging author Judy Mazel dropped from 180 to 108 pounds by following this diet, optimizing the enzymatic action of foods by eating fruits by themselves, by not mixing carbohydrates with proteins or eating carbohydrates after proteins, and by following protein with protein. The many additional rules of this diet may be hard to keep track of, but the guideline that's easy to remember is that champagne goes with everything (however, wine goes with fruit, and other alcoholic beverages should be combined with other carbohydrates). Warning: some of the prescribed fruits--there are mangoes, papayas, pineapples, and apricots galore--will be hard to find out of season for anyone who doesn't live in southern California.
1 Discipiline
I started this alternative way of eating on January 27,03 and I have lost 55 pounds I enjoy all of the fruit and even the dried apricots, It is total discipline. This alternative way of eating can change your life for health reason.. Go for it now i'm just on a maintance plan. I could hardly put this book down. Just like my new morning brew made from soy beans. Taste like coffee, sans the caffeine, and contains no tannic acids. I have no more heartburn and that is something to write about. Google it online under "s oyfee".

2 This is a really good book.
I think that this book really helped me to make the right choies about what i eat. Thank You Judy M.
In french it is, Je adores Judy!!!
3 Garbage
You are better off just buying a cook and telling her to give you exactly X amount of calories a day. This diet is ridiculous and mostly inconvient.
4 Could be a lot better
First the good:

Yes, food combining and using principles of enzymes and digestion does help. However the use of just fruit is limiting. FOLKS, it all really boils down to eating healthy carbohydrates, good fats and quality proteins on a low calorie diet while getting adequate nutrition. I pretty much as already eating most of the time as this book dictates so it wasnt really a major revelation or anything to me. I read it in the bookstore and thought that it was ok but severely lacking in facts and references to backup what the author was preaching. For a better book on diet, read the Okinawa Program Study and the Zone. More evidence and remember rapid weight loss of more than 2-3 pounds a week is bad news because then you are losing water and muscle and not fat.

5 Lose Weight and your health at the same time!
I have been on the Beverly Hills Diet twice. I am pretty good about staying within the strict guidelines of diets like this. The first time was quite effective and I lost seventeen pounds over three weeks. I tried this again a few years later and while I stuck with it and lost about thirteen pounds again, I have to say I cannot recommend this diet. I believe the initial three week program is too difficult for most people and too stressful on the body. I happened to be taking my first trip to Hawaii when I was into my second week. I was only thirty at the time and not in bad shape. I was jogging a couple nights and felt an inordinate amount of stress on my heart so I decided to stop running on both days. The diet is too fruit centered for too long. Some days are difficult because you may dislike foods like papaya so you can get into trouble. As for living the Beverly Hills diet lifestyle, it will be unrealistic expensive and difficult for most people. As most doctors would probably tell you, you can eat an aweful large amount of fruit without taking in many calories. That is likely why the diet works. Because of the kind of nutrition the diet provides over an extended period of time, my opinion is this diet is dangerous. That is the reason it was modified. If your personality is such that you must lose weight quickly, far easier, more nutritious and less dangerous is the cabbage soup diet. The insanity lasts only a week, you can lose 7 to ten pounds and by the third day you are already incorporating starches and protiens making it a breeze. Its simple and one page long that can be downloaded from the internet. It doesn't pretend to be a lifestyle. After that find a diet you can LIVE with every day of your life.
6 I've found the way with food combining!
I had back surgery in April and was looking for something different to help me get the 20 pounds off that I had gained throughout the year. I followed the first 35 days and lost 11 pounds and now a couple more weeks have passed and I have lost a total of 14 pounds. I am so happy to have found a way to lose the weight and keep it off - the book explains EVERYTHING - including what to do if you go off the diet, how to maintain your weight once your are done and tons more. Highly recommended - food combining is the key!
7 I'm Impressed. . .
I am a student of Holistic Medicine specializing in Nutrition. I am researching the concepts of food combining and tried The New Beverly Hills Diet. As a professional dieter and with obesity in my background, I am most impressed with the conscious food- combining program that Judy Mazel teaches. I lost 30 pounds in two months, feel healthy, look great and know that I found the way to remain thin for a lifetime. I have been recommending this program to clients, friends and family. Thank you my friend Judy Mazel. Amy Person-Pullen
8 THIS BOOK IS THE KEY TO SUCCESS
If anyone has ever told you to look to your,'roots' to find who you are and what works best for you? I remember this diet as a teenager, my mother still has the book she bought in 1981. This was the year I graduated from high school and it was a time when I too was watching my, 'girly' figure. It helped me alot to just get off the extra 5 pounds or so from eating too many sweets. I was so happy to hear that she had revised the book, because I knew how succussful my mother and I had both been while on it. I am very happy to say that after only being on the diet 6 days, I have already lost 6 pounds and am on my way to the ,'New Skinny Me'. Tonight I get to have steak and believe me, it is going to taste wonderful. I plan on savouring every single bite. For all of you who are contemplating using Judy Mazels wonderful book, I do encourage you to do just that. I took a biology class in college and even did a paper on how enzymes work, I do believe this diet is a synergistic one with your body's way of metabolizing food. Just the fact that she tells you in the book to stop eating fruit the rest of the day once you are finished because fruit does digest much faster than other foods and when they are combined inproperly, this produces a sort of fermentation effect in your stomach. This is where good old indigestion occurs. I have had no stomach pains except for prune day, and that was only because the old pipes needed cleaning if you know what I mean. Please, I exhort all of you to buy this book. It is a great summer diet too because the fruit is so refreshing on a hot day. I wish you all the best.
9 Is this diet practical if you only want to lose five pounds?
It seems like this diet is geared for people with a lot of weight to lose.
10 A happy woman
First of all, I have done this diet with the old book, I just found out there is a new version.

4 years ago I came across the book by accident and being the heaviest I had ever been and very desperate, I decided it wouldn't hurt to try, I had already tried everything else... now I refer to the book as my "bible". It was not easy but after a couple of days the weightloss motivated me to continue and within 6 months I had lost 60 pounds!I took pictures of myself when I started and every 3 months after that and it is amazing to look back at them, I really advise you do the same when you start this diet, it is good motivation...

Keeping my ideal weight will always be a challenge and as soon as I tend to slip (vacations are tough) I grab my "bible", it puts me back on the tracks and makes me feel a lot more energetic and healthy.

I would like to make a comment about the reviewer 'A reader from New York'(March 24 2000): the Beverly Hills diet is not meant to be done for just 2 weeks and then stopped, no wonder you regain, the Beverly Hills diet is a change in your foodpattern, a way of life that you should try and stick with to lead a healthier life, this is clearly specified in the book, so please do not blame Judy Mazel for your weight gain and obvious lack of discipline! To everyone who is ready to try it I would like to say this: the first 6 days are the hardest, then you realize you are over the first half of the 10 days of just fruit...and believe me, the first bite I took of my tunafish sandwich on day 11 was the best I ever had! Good luck people, you can do it and don't be put off by people with negative remarks telling you it can't be healthy etc. I realized those people are just envious of the fact that you are losing the weight when they just don't have the motivation to keep it up and you know what? That just motivated me even more! And thank you Judy Mazel...

11 save your time and money
I did this diet religously for two weeks. Yes, it works. But so does eating right. The difference is, you will lose weight very quickly doing the beverly hills diet. Eating right, you will keep it off. On the BH diet, expect the moment you go off of it to gain double what you lost.
12 Finally NO MORE GUILT!
I usually do not buy books on dieting, but for some reason this book attracted my attention. The key here, I believe, is INCORPORATE Judy's diet to our life gradually and sensibly. For one thing: this program requires maturity and reasoning. I did not care about loosing so much weight. I cared about conditioning my body in a way that I didn't crave for sweets, especially chocolate, conditioning my mind to eat without guilt, conditioning my soul to feel good about eating. This is, within limits, a very good program for what Judy calls very appropriately "eaters". I love to eat, and after years losing and maintaining my weight with heavy duty medication, spending thousands of dollars on pills that were altering my brain to make believe I was not hungry or didn't want to eat, I think this diet is the solution for my life. For three weeks now I don't crave for chocolate or sweets at all. When I do feel like, I eat one small candy bar and I am fully satisfied, as opposed to before adopting Judy's system, when I could eat two pounds of chocolate without blinking! This alone is worth the book! I also noticed that my body responded very quickly to what Judy calls "miscombinations". If I do too much of miscombinations I gain wwight. If I keep it within limits, I don't. The scale is not really my guide: my clothes are. Even though I only lost 4 pounds in 3 weeks, my clothes are all getting looser. I am not doing the diet so strictly because I don't want to and because my goal is to condition my body and mind, not to loose a bunch of pounds. But the days I followed the book exactly, I lost an average of 1,5 to 2,0 pounds per day. Because of the separation of Food Groups, I got a hold of what really makes me gain pounds, in other words, by keeping track of the foods I eat, I now know for sure what foods are more likely to make me fat. This alone is also worth the book! Fruit only in the morning is being great to keep my energy levels up! I don't miss big breakfasts at all! The down side of this diet is that we loose a lot of water, and of course that accounts for most of the fast weight loss. There are also some gaps in the book that should be attended to when possible (Hello there, Judy!): what should we drink during the program? What about hypersensitivity to prunes and other dry fruits? Although there are some adjustments that need to be made, I believe the book is an excellent guideline for food lovers. Eliminates guilt and prevent dropping out of the program in the middle of the way. If I may suggest to prospective buyers of the book, just follow your body's response. Listening to our bodies is a key part of this program. I love it, and intend to keep on it for life, no matter how many pounds I loose!
13 Spend money on diet books? You must be crazy!
If you spend money for books on how to diet, you must be crazy!

Listen! Save your money, here's all you need to know. You can get a healthy, slim body by eating only what you need to live. Stop eating at restaurants and especially at the movies. Avoid excessive drinking at bars and parties. Get out off your couch and go out for a brisk walk or swim. Join a health club and exercise, or even better join an activities club and socialize at the same time.

It comes down to this: CALORIES IN AND CALORIES BURNED. If you eat more calories than your body burns then you'll get fat. If you're already fat then scale back what you eat and go exercise more. If it makes you feel better to blow some money on a book, than get one of the literary classics or send me the money you would have wasted buying this book!

Take a look at yourself in the mirror. You might see yourself as fat, but if you spend your hard-earned money on a hair-brained diet plan then you look pretty gullible too. As someone smarter than I once said, "A fool is easily parted with his money".

Peace, Love & Stop Eating So Much!

14 Mazel delivered what she promissed! Fascinating!
I started the diet with scepticism, but quickly was encouraged by the results. I followed the book religiously and lost 16 pounds in 35 days! I feel great as for the first time a diet worked for me with no pain. Thank you Judy! PS: I checked the diet with my doctor. His comment was that the diet is drastic but healthy.
15 ABSOLUTY GREAT ....
I WOULD LIKE TO FIND THIS BOOK IN FRENCH IN A FRENCH LIBRARY BUT I HAVEN'T BEEN ABLE TO. I KNOW A LOT OF PEOPLE, NON ENGLISH SPEAKING WHO WOULD BE VERY INTERESTED. THANK YOU FOR LETTING ME KNOW HOW I COULD FIND IT VERY QUICKLY. THIS BOOK IS ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC...
16 Concept good, but too regimented. Rather Somersize.
Two thirds of the way through grape day I broke down and had a tuna sandwich. The 3 pounds in water that I had lost came right back the next morning. I read an article in a health magazine about Susanne Sommer's books and the concept was very similar to this one, so I decided to buy her books and found her diet much more liveable. I know someone that has lost 15 lbs on the Beverly Hills diet after 3 weeks and likes that it's regimented. If you get bored easily of not having enough variety, then you should probably buy the Sommer's book instead.
17 I haven't tried it yet, but my son has and told me about it.
I just bought the book and am reading it before beginning diet. I would like to hear from the persons who are vegetarian as I am too. I would like to find out more specifics on how he/she is eating and what proteins he/she is using. My son has lost 11 pounds in two weeks and is quite enthusiatic about the program ( but he isn't strictly vegetarian and I am). Any successful vegetarians please email me at: kamala@javanet.com Thank you Elicia
18 Good if you can follow it, but watch out for blood sugar
The diet does seem to work if you can stick with it. But on day 10 it occured to me that I had been glucose binging for 10 days and that concerns me. My father had adult onset diabetes and I dont want to follow in his foot steps. I would like to find out if there is info from a medical specialist regarding Judys diet.
19 I lost 12 lbs. in three weeks using this diet.
I recommend this book to anyone who has tried and failed many times at losing weight. If you are an overeater and a lover of food, this book will help you learn to eat what you want, be full, and lose weight. You no longer have to weigh food or count calories.

I lost twelve pounds in what seemed like no time at all. I found this diet to be tremendously helpful in losing weight. I was afraid I would put the weight back on, but it's been two months now and I'm doing fine. I'm going back on the strict weight loss diet to lose even more weight.

The fruit for breakfast really does work, and I've been eating everything I want. On days when I overindulge, I just follow the antedote regimen explained in the book, and I am able to maintain my weight.

Foods I eat regularly include: bread, pasta, veggies, legumes and soy for protein, and sweets. Note: I am vegetarian. I could eat animal protein if I wanted to, as long as I combine it properly.

20 Thank You, Judy...
Take it from a diet junkie....I've tried everything from fasting, daily workouts, diet supplements, prepared diet meals, and NOTHING took off more than about 2-3 pounds of the 40 that I had gained after quitting smoking last year. A friend of mine recommended this book to me, and it makes sense - you really are what you eat, and HOW you eat it. I have been on the diet for 6 days now, and logged a total weight loss of 10 pounds this morning. I understand that a lot of it is probably water, but isn't that the case with all diets??? Some days were pretty hard, but I kept focus on the days I could look forward to - like steak and shrimp tonight. I went from frustrated and depressed to actually looking forward to stepping on the scale every day. Granted, this diet isn't for every one...you have to be fond of fruit and willing to give up preservatives and salty, pre-packaged foods, but it is totally worth it. Even if you can draw from only one or two of the author's theories (like starting every morning with fresh fruit) and apply it to your favorite diet regimen. I did it, I know it can work for most everyone.
21 Be careful if you go on this diet
I started this diet yesterday and I've lost 2 pounds already, but I'm debating whether I should switch to another diet.

Didn't your mom ever tell you to go easy on fruits? My mom did -- and she's right. She used to warn me that eating too much of certain fruits (pineapple, cherries, etc.) would give me a tummy ache. I'm remembering her words of wisdom as I sit here with stomach cramps after eating prunes and strawberries all day today.

I envy the success stories I've read of those who've completed this diet, but I'm not sure it's worth the health risk. I was looking up diet book reviews on the web and found a Good Housekeeping review of the book (see http://homearts.com/gh/health/67dietf1.htm). The GH review warns against this diet for the very reason that fruit binges aren't healthy and this diet is low on protein.

Just be careful!! Your body is a precious commodity, no matter how much you think you need to lose.

Oh, and in answer to the dieter's question about what to drink on this diet, Mazel recommends water, tea and coffee. If you drink alcohol, she limits the types you can have. (I'd say water is your best bet.)

22 The New Beverly Hills Diet worked for me but...
The New Beverly Hills Diet worked for me but there were times such as all fruit days that I craved something more substantial and filling. During the 35 Day plan I lost 15 pounds (5 pounds a week during the first three weeks) but once the 35 days was up, I was not able to continue eating the way I did during the diet. I do believe that there is something to food combining, but Judy Mazel's program was too strict for me to follow. One book that is easy to follow is "The Hay Diet Made Easy" by Jackie Habgood, which gives straightforward information about food combining!

24 It definetly works but it's expensive and hard to stick to!!
I tried the diet a few months back and am about to try it again. Previously I made it to about the 20th day. I then found it hard to stick to which I think may have been because I hit a plateau and didnt lose anything for quite a few days. I lost a total of 10 pounds in 20 days. The diet was very expensive and took alot of will power. Some days I felt really great and others I felt sluggish. I experienced alot of gas and some stomach cramping. I've tried quite a few diets and "The Beverly Hills Diet" and "Weight Watchers 123 Success" seam to be the only ones that have worked so far.
25 don't waste your money
This is just another in a long line of fad diets. Does not promote permanent changes necessary to maintain wt loss. Teaches how to binge and purge - the opposite of what most dieters need!
26 Great Diet! Mazel is a bit over enthusiastic about her diet.
I'm on day 20 of 35 and I have lost 20 pounds already, and never feel hungry. One of the best fad diets I have used. Mazel walks you through the diet with a daily chapter, but sometimes is a bit condesending, impling that people who diet have absolutely no self control. But overall the diet is good!!
27 WOW! Works fast, not hard, (but needs more recipes...)
I bought this book after seeing the amazing results that my best friend was getting. I am on day 10 and have already lost 6.5 pounds despite the fact that for two days I only followed the diet for breakfast and ate whatever I wanted the rest of the day. There must be something to Judy's plan, because losing weight on it is faster what it would be if I ate nothing at all. It's very easy for me because food preparation is simple.(and I'm pretty busy). I'm excited about it because I can eat a variety of things. I have not had any gas, bloating, or felt lightheaded. Another friend of ours with ALOT of weight to lose (more than 100 1bs) is following the original diet and has already dropped 13lbs in 10 days!(She hasn't felt weak or lightheaded either!) The only thing I don't like is that I'd like 1 or 2 recipes for chicken preparation, there isn't much guidance there unless you buy the recipe book. Temptation to "cheat" isn't too great because you can have your favorites here and there, AND because the rapid reduction is so motivating! ALL in ALL, I say TRY IT! You'll lose the weight FAST and keep it off! How's that for the best of both worlds!
28 This is a fad diet that people should beware of!
I followed this diet very closely for 12 days and neither gained nor lost weight. I feel that people should be wary of this diet; apparently some people have lost weight on it, but some people will not. I have lost weight on restricted carbohydrate diets but thought I would give it a try. I think it can be dangerous for people who have blood sugar problems (as a lot of people apparently do) to consume the huge amounts of carbos found in fruit.
29 Crash diet? Yes. Lifestyle? NO!
I bought the original book back in the 80's. Yes, I lost 5 pounds after just 1 day on pineapple. But guess what? The next day, I put it all back again - when I went on that inevitable binge. Days and days of only fruit? Impossible. And inhuman. Today, I can't bear to LOOK at a pineapple, let alone eat one. So I hoped Judy Mazel's new book would have something new. WRONG! ANYONE can lose weight if you eat only fruit for a whole day - it's water loss, NOT real fat loss. The moment you go back to normal eating - you'll gain all the pounds back. And a few more pounds into the bargain! Because if you go on any kind of starvation or fad diet - you will be CRAVING food (usually junk-food!) the whole day long. Result? A massive junk-food binge! So - if you're really desperate to lose a couple of pounds - eat fruit ONLY for a day or two, But be prepared for horrific cravings, and to feel exhausted or even ill. And, I repeat - the pounds will return as soon as you go back to "normal" food. To sum up, this is a crash diet - NOT a lifestyle. I've found out the hard way that: THERE IS NO MIRACLE, NO MAGIC BULLET, NO SPECIAL FOOD, PILL, POTION, DIET OR EXERCISE GADGET. Moderation is the key to everything
30 The Beverly Hills Diet is everything wrong with fad diets.
I would normally prefer not to comment negatively on a book (I come from a family of writers), but I bought this book because it seemed to use the ideas of food combining which have been around for many decades. She has cribbed ideas from other people, given little or no credit (unlike Marilu Henner who is peddling similar concepts but far less goofy) and written it in a breathless style which would make Jacqueline Susann spin in her grave. The pseudo-science is an embarrassment. I threw the book out after one-half hour. One amusing aspect is the foods she has on the diet--available only to the privileged few and Alice Waters. I guess you might lose weight if you followed the ridiculous regimen, but if you want good sense, good nutrition, and good recipes, buy a book by Dean Ornish.
31 Started today and am encouraged.
A 35 day sacrifice is worth it if i can lose 10-12 pounds. One of the biggest pluses is that if you have a weak moment it is all not for nothing' ONE QUESTION I NEED FOR SOMEONE TO ANSWER---WHAT ARE YOU SUPPOSED TO DRINK ON THIS DIET?
32 Losing Weight and my Health
I must commend Judy Mazel on writing a very easy to understand diet book as compared to others I have read ( "The Zone" e.g.). However, I am not so sure how well her diet would hold up with health professionals. Her diet does not provide for the kind of nutrients the human body needs just to get throught a day. After having read the book and tried the diet I have lost weight. I have also lost my energy level. I often feel sluggish and confused. I believe it is not practical or safe for the average person. It provides a nice guideline to dieting, but to follow it to the letter, as she recommends, is not going to make for a happy, healthy person, no matter what your weight is.
33 Extremely Effective For Weight Loss, but....?
The diet is very effective. In the first 35 days on the Beverly Hills diet I lost 17 pounds. I found that my craving for sugary products was greatly reduced/eliminated. I truly enjoyed the fruit mixtures. The recipes in the recipe book are very tasty.

I have one concern that I would like to hear from others on. I am taking hormone supplements, in addition to dieting. I am noticing some hair loss and have to wonder whether it is the result of the diet, the hormone supplements, or the mixture.

34 If you want skinny, you'll get skinny!
Thanks Judy, We saw you on the Gail King show, and decided to give you a try. It has been Liberating! Other diets are hard to follow "after the diet" But I have been able to incorperate your concepts to a true to life daily diet. I am on day 17 and have lost 10 lbs, but the best thing about it is that I lost 2 dress sizes and my energy is way above what I could remember ever having! The diet is doable If you really and truly want to loose weight! I have not felt hungry and I am happy to say I love this diet!
35 Serious health hazard !!! Can cause diarrhea, gastritis etc.
Here's a sample day's menu: eight ounces of prunes for breakfast, all-you-can-eat strawberries for lunch, and all-you-can-eat baked potatoes for dinner. If you still have weight to lose after completing the initial 35-day plan, you continue the diet.

Calorie counts can swing high or low, depending on just how much of the daily specified foods you eat. What's more, bingeing on huge quantities of fruit is also likely to cause stomach distress, acidity, heartburn, gastritis and diarrhea. This diet is dangerously low in protein, vitamins, and minerals.

It's a health hazard.

36 One must really like the foods in this diet plan.
There is no help with this diet...when I wrote a letter with questions about the diet, I never got any response. One must really like the foods in this diet plan, because that is all you get to eat the entire day. I get bored eating only one food all day long. If you are not a "snacker" this is not the diet for you and the fruits are VERY expensive!!! I would recommend another diet to a friend.
37 At last! There is hope for hopeless food lovers.
The book is really in two very distinct parts. Part one is the usual format for a diet book. Intro, explination, a doctors openion etc. The second part is where the excitement starts. The program is laid out in a very creative way! You are led, day by day, through the program. Judy Mazel is one of us. She really knows what it is like to be an EATER! Best of all she teaches you how to continue being an eater. Sound impossible? It did to me too. After reading though, it all makes since to me. The first part of the diet is pretty tough but not overly so. The maintanance part is a dream come true. It's worth the tough part many times over.
38 This diet is a lifestyle not a diet
"The New Beverly Hills Diet," by Judy Mazel is one of the best diet books I have read. And yes it is a balance diet. The secert to any diet is fruit. Fruit is high in vitamins and high in fiber. The second secert to successful dieting is the combination of foods. I would have liked for Ms. Mazel to explain how to incooperate this lifestyle diet into daily living...fruit til noon, high and low carbohydrates at noon then protien and low carbohydrates with the evening meal.
39 The best thing that could of ever happened to me!!!
I have been on this diet for 19 days and I have lost 16 lbs. I have heard people say that this is not a "healthy" way to lose weight. How can starvation, belima, anorexia, pre-packaged food, shakes and pills be healthy? If your like most dieters, you have tried everything. This is a wonderful way to learn about food, your body, and eat healthy at the same time. I am never hungry and I eat a lot of food. I have learned a lot of ways to make fruit days fun. Freeze it, blend it with ice, cold and even cooked! I am healthier and happier than I have ever been and I don't see how that can be bad! It's a way of life that I will follow forever and if I get skinnier along the way, GOOD FOR ME!!! I have met Judy Mazel and she is a wonderful person! Try it! What have you got to lose??
40 Can This Really Work??????
I've just begun my 35 day program and I can hardly believe that anyone could survive this without health consequences. A DAY JUST EATING GRAPES!!!! Judy Mazel says you won't even get hungry. That's impossible!!!! PRUNES THAT TASTE GOOD!!!! Yeah, right!!!! WATERMELON FOR AN ENTIRE DAY AND YOUR NOT GOING TO FEEL HUNGRY!!!!! I believe this might work, but I can't believe anyone can really do this for 35 days. The real question is this....The web site she talks about in her book doesn't exist, the 800 number she gives belongs to 2 guys in Seattle, and the other number is not in service. I called Seattle for info and they had no listing. What Gives?????
41 Risky fad diet inducing short-term weight loss.
Weight loss on this 35 day "diet" occurs almost exclusively by eating (carbohydrates) fruits of high fluid content which induce diuresis (water loss) via urination. It is true that pineapples, grapes and watermelon will activate digestive enzymes which will break down stored body fats when no other nutritive values are applied. However, starvation or lack of proper nutrition will have the same weight loss effect...Dieters, be aware!
42 Judy Mazel....My health mentor!
Judy Mazel has wit, courage and is an example to all who read of her. I have read 'The Beverly Hills Diet' and I have tried it. It worked great! The problem is this: 1) I cannot, as a teenager with a single mom, afford it. 2) In South Africa, the fruits in the diet are not always easily obtainable, especially when out of season. 3) I too, want to become a dietician, but I am not able to study for 7 years. I would be grateful if you could therefore send me new and upcoming information about the health industry, i.e. new findings and diets and theories. Maybe in the future I could study to become like Judy Mazel. Judy, thank you for an inspiring book.
