1 Ready To Start My Business
After completing this book...my lightbulb moment hit me. This book gave me a great sense of just what my calling is and how to obtain it. I found this book to be very helpful. The stories of other sucessful woman were a great motivator!!!!!
2 Very little info of what is needed to start a business
Very little info of what is needed to start a business. This book basically told stories of people who started a business and how they liked what they were doing. More on the lines of Chicken Soup for the Soul. The stories covered various set up costs but hardly gave any ideas of what is needed to start a business.
3 Hi!
Wow.
4 Chicken soup for the soul is better
This book is more about feel good stories of people who started a business and they liked what they were doing. If you liked Chicken Soup for the Soul, you will probably like this. I was looking for a book to give some ideas of what good businesses someone could do part-time and make some extra money. These stories covered various set up costs and barely gave an idea of what is needed. The book basically sums up to be: Find out what you like and make a plan. If you already figured that out, don't buy the book.

6 Superb!
Thanks Liz for giving us ideas on what we can do, how we can do it, and how we can balance our lives through family and work. This book is well-written and easily read; it is chock full of ideas and recommendations that can easily be used for Moms who want to stay at home, telecommute, or work part-time.

Also for success, I strongly recommend a companion book that will give you great skills-building info on management and leadership. You will learn how to work with others when you're not in charge, or if you work on teams with others. This beautiful book is called ""The Leader's Guide: 15 Essential Skills.""

7 We need more people like Liz out there.
Us moms need someone like Liz to help us out. Whether you have a degree or not, the children are our future and us moms need to be there to teach them respect and love. Unfortunately it takes two incomes to make ends meat anymore and it is great that she can give us advice so we can secure our future. Everyone should be more grateful to her. A big THUMBS UP TO THE CARING PEOPLE OF THE WORLD.
8 Excellent Resource
Despite what a few reviewers have said, this book is an excellent resource for work at home moms. It profiles many wonderful, educated women and their dreams that they have successfully turned into a profitable home based business. Definitely worth your while. Be sure to check this one out.
9 NOT for the professional woman
I agree with the other reviewer that there isn't much here for the degreed professional who wants to do what they've been trained (and love!) to do. I'd love to see a book on how to translate one's degreed expertise into a home-based business. How about a geophysicist who manages to use her science training to do something at home, rather than some craft-y type thing? I'd love to see a book for the professional woman wanting to work-at-home -- this book is not it.
10 A great home business book for *all* moms
I have to say that this book has excellent advice for all moms, including those with college educations. I personally have a degree with a double major in math and computer science, and I worked as an engineer for over 10 years (away from home.) I found the advice in Liz's book very helpful. I have since chosen to pursue a different career for my home-based business, but I also know many engineers, doctors, lawyers, etc. who are working at home ... many of these professional women were also interviewed in Liz's book. Whether you wish to bring your current career home or make some changes, if you want to work at home, the advice in this book will help you.
11 Motivation in a paperback!!
Liz Folger has written a book that all work at home moms can use as a reference again and again. I re-read it every time I feel like I need motivation to keep working at home while raising my children and, believe me, I have read it many times!
12 Very Helpful!
When I recently decided to start a home business my wife bought the best books she could find on the subject. She selected the "Stay-at-Home Mom's Guide" because she works from home part time and thought we both could benefit. Although I'm a stay-at-home dad, I found many of the stories to be inspirational and helpful in facilitating my start-up. Another favorite is "The Work at Home Balancing Act" by Sandy Anderson because if offers a dad's perspective as well. Now I'm able to understand what my wife has been going through--especially where child care and household responsibilities are concerned--and now we have the tools to successfully manage. These books offer a great foundation for your work-at-home resource library. Read them and profit!
13 Sensible, organized and motivating guide to "home"work
This is a well-written, informative, sobering yet inspiring guide. A married mother of three, I have worked part-time as a pediatric nurse for the past eight years and am looking forward to staying home and really being there for my children. This book has helped to fuel my desire to be home and be my own boss, while helping me to sort out the steps I need to take to start my own home-based business. Ms. Folger has sensibly organized this book, enabling the reader to approach a home business thoughtfully. What I found most helpful were the profiles of 29 women out there who really made it. This is a book, not just for moms, but for anyone considering doing something from home that makes sense for them (that will hopefully make "cents" for them.)
14 This not just for Mom but for every woman.
This is a great book for someone who would like to start working out of their home. You do not have to be a "Mom" to reas, understand and use this book. Liz Folger does dirrect her book at woman who are mothers, but because of the way Ms Folger has written her book, it is very easy to scrim passed all the Mom information . There are some great tips on how to get started, the does, the don'ts and the scams as well as website addresses for a variety of related subjects. There is also an entire section in the book devoted to Home bussiness ideas . This has profiles of people who have started a bussiness and tips on How To start your own bussiness. The book is easy reading for anyone.
15 Great book!
If you are interested in implementing this wonderful book by starting your own FANTASTIC (and fun!) home business, just drop a line at the above email address! I'd love to get you started!
16 Liz, you are my inspiration!!
I admire what Lynn has done with her life, and the decisions she has made. She has proven that a mother's place is in the home, yet that does not mean that she is incapable of earning an income. I was an executive working for a large chain of full-service hotels. When I became pregnant with my fourth child, my husband finally agreed with me that I needed to be home. I am home now, and very happy. Not wanting to waste all the training and experience that I have accomplished over the past ten years, I am in the process of starting a home-based consulting business. Liz's book has motivated me, and given me great ideas for marketing on a tight budget. I enjoyed Liz's book so much that I have read it twice!! I enjoyed Liz's advice, as well as the profiles of other successful work-at-home mothers. I am looking forward to the publication of Liz's next book!!
17 Gave Me That Extra Push TO Get Started!
I am a stay-at-home mother of five. I have stayed home for 13 years now. I knew I wanted to start a Home Based Business, but wasn't sure where to begin. I bought and read Liz Folger's book, not really knowing what to expect. I was very impressed with Liz! She really knows how to give a mom like me that "extra push" that she needs. Thanks to Liz, I know that I want to be a soapmaker! I can't wait to get started. I have joined a soap list, and everyone is so wonderful! My life is changing before my eyes, and I have Liz Folger to thank for it! Best wishes, Beth Staiano
18 Wonderful Insights from a Mom Who Has Been There!
I have to say Liz's book was a God send to me not only when I first read it but ever since then as I have gone back to read parts of it many times.

Through the inspiration of Liz's book and her solid advice for all women I have become a very successful, professional, web designer with both new sites and maintenance on existing sites. As my portfolio grows and my success climbs ever higher I know I can attribute a lot of it to my having read this book.

There were times when I first started out where I almost threw in the towel, many times actually, especially during the first year. But each time, after picking up Liz's book and talking to the network of friends I have made through Liz's chats, I was able to find the inspiration I needed to move on. I would recommend this book to anyone who is looking to work from home, it definitely can put you on the road to success.

A special Thank You to Liz Folger for a fantastic book! I look forward to future books written by her.

19 HOW DISAPPOINTING!!!
I couldn't believe how disappointed I was in this book! Sure, Liz Folger gives you practical advice on how to work from home and take care of your family. But if you were a degreed professional prior to being a mom, this is NOT the book for you. I have a B.A. in Communications and an M.B.A. in Economics. But according to the book, now that I'm a mother I should pursue a home business in candlemaking or crafts (meaning absolutely no disrespect to the wonderful women profiled here). But this is the 90's, not the 50's, Liz! Many of us are educated in far different arenas than were portrayed here! Take my advice, ladies, and buy one of the generic home-based business books; with the careers outlined in them, you might actually have the opportunity to take off your apron now and then.
20 Good advice and examples to help you get started.
Not only does Liz Folger offer good practical advice about starting and running a home-based business, but her sources and profiles are so real and compelling that she also motivates the reader to get started.

More than just a "how to" book, Folger's use of real world examples helps the first time work-at- home mom better understand the steps required for success.

As a 9 year work-at-home veteran, I found this book to ring true. It may not always be easy, but when you hit the right type of business that matches your skills and interests, it is very rewarding.

Take her advice to heart and go after your dream as all those in her book have already done!

21 A business is work, but work in the right business is fun!
It is amazing to learn about how many every day tasks have been turned into money making businesses! Everyone is different -- one person's downfall is another person's attribute -- this difference allows for our diversity in the business place. As a stay-at-home mom of 2 small children I began to yearn for adult conversation and a little extra income. To regain some sanity and contribute income to our family I decided to begin my own business with a reputatable direct selling/party plan company. I am in business for myself but not by myself which makes it a little bit less scary than starting from scratch. However, this book has opened my eyes to the variety of skills that are in demand and the opportunities there are for moms to stay home with their children -- without excessive risk. I found myself saying, "I could do that!" or "I never would have thought about that, but its a great idea!" or "I need someone to do that!" throughout the entire book. It states the facts -- businesses are hard work at first...a business idea may land in your lap but it takes dedication and knowledge to put ideas into action... and provides tips and suggestions that are not only a valuable resource for your business venture but can be applied to your personal growth as well. This book should be one of "Oprah's Book Club" selections!
22 This is a great book on home Businesses!!
This is a great book on Home Businesses - She really did her research! She gives you so many ideas on different areas you can start businesses. I like the way that she interveiwed a bunch of different women in all different lines of work and showed the ups and downs of them. Great book it is a must if you plan on starting a home biz!!
23 Read this book first before taking the plunge!
I enjoyed this book very much. This book is concise and frank about how to make the transition to a home-based business for women. I want to transition from my corporate day job to my own home-based business. I like the business plan and querying your mind for what you enjoy doing. This book is helpful for those who need a reality check for transitioning out of the workplace.

28 This book is WONDERFUL!!!!
I had been trying to get my home business off of the ground for several months before I came across this book. When I finally decided that it was the one I wanted, I was skeptical that it could really help me out, but boy was I wrong!

This book has helped create a very profitable home web-site design business for me. I always knew it would be hard work, but I also knew that this is what I wanted to do so that when my husband and I do get pregnant, we will already have my business established so that I am not worrying about how to get a business started along with trying to raise a baby.

I would recommend this book to anyone who is interested in working at home and working hard. It's not a get rich quick scheme someone else might tell you about. It shows YOU how to make the money for yourself, with your own business.

29 Best Book on the Market for At-Home Moms
Ms. Folger is one of my personal inspirations and a mom who really knows what she is talking about. This book is full of good advice and support for moms who want to make it on their own. Ms. Folger know that you have to love what you're doing to create a successful home business, and she emphasizes that repeatedly. If you are looking for insight, support and -- best of all -- common-sense good advice, you've come to the right place
30 The #1 Home-Based Busi.Resource Book to Have on your Shelf
I recently purchased Liz Folger's book "The Stay at Home Mom's Guide to Making Money" from Amazon.com. It's the second book that I've bought on the home based business subject. Since then I have read several more books. "The Stay at Home Mom's Guide to Making Money" book did what the others promised, yet couldn't. I read the whole book in two days! I am not a mommy yet, but am planning to be soon. I am looking into home businesses now, so I can be prepared when I have children. I wasn't sure what I wanted to do as a home business, but now my husband and I are thinking of starting our own home based computer consulting business. I would like to thank Liz Folger for putting out such an informative and thought provoking book. It really makes you think about the real reasons to get into a home-based business and the realities that you are likely to face. Of all the books that I have read, "The Stay at Home Mom's Guide to Making Money" was the only one with an actual BUSINESS PLAN! Liz Folger also encourages family values - where nowadays they aren't much "valued". She and the moms profiled show that through hard work and perseverance, one can have it all -Husband, children, career, self-esteem, confidence, and most of all happiness. I will always look out for new books authored by Liz Folger. I highly recommend this book to anyone looking to start a home business.
31 A great resource for new moms and moms-to-be
If you are undecided about whether or not you will continue to work outside the home after your baby is born, you are not alone. Having a baby oftentimes changes the way career-minded women choose to earn a living. You may find that a three-month or so maternity leave just isn't enough time to spend one-on-one with your newborn. If you're thinking of trying your hand at an at-home business, you're in good company.

Author Liz Folger reports in this book that 16 million women in North America are earning money at home today, and the number is growing. Folger, a stay-at-home mom raising two daughters, runs a successful home-based business consulting service for women and hosts two on-line chat rooms on the subject. In the guide, Folger discusses finding a business you love, planning and budgeting your time, avoiding get-rich-quick scams and other costly mistakes, tapping into the Internet's vast resources and opportunities... and all the while keeping yourself and your family healthy and happy. Additionally, Folger profiles 29 other successful women who work at home with children.

32 This is a fantastic book and a must read!
The Stay-at-Home Mom's guide to Making Money is a highly recommended book for all at-home parents. Not only is it an excellent resource of information for starting your own business, it also shows you how to make your business succeed. Liz not only describes how to avoid the scams and common mistakes that most people make, but she also shares the success stories and experiences of other people. This book is a delight to read.

33 An Excellent Resource for Moms Wanting to Work at Home!
Liz Folger gives some great advice and informaton on home business basics as well as what types of businesses are available. I especially liked the home business profiles -- what a great way to take a peek inside another mom's home business and learn from her experiences.

I would HIGHLY recommend it!

34 Like sitting down for coffee and a chat with a girlfriend.
Has your search for a home business led you to claims like these?

MAKE MONEY WHILE YOU SLEEP!!!!
I MAKE $10,000 A WEEK WATCHING SOAP OPERAS!!!!

Or, on the other end of the spectrum, home business experts will tell you that to be successful, you must sacrifice everything for the sake of your business, and concentrate all your energy on the business. Do this or you're doomed to failure. "There must be some middle ground", you think, "something for a woman who wants to stay home with her children, but still make some money."

If this describes your search, the "Stay at Home Moms' Guide to Making Money - How to Create the Business That's Right for You Using the Skills and Interests You Already Have" by Liz Folger is what you've been looking for. This book is written for the woman who puts her children first, and is dedicated to her role as mother, but would still like to work from home. Liz Folger guides you through the process of finding a business, getting started, and dealing with the challenges of combining business and family. She then goes on to profile 29 moms and their home businesses. Reading these profiles is like sitting down for coffee and a chat with a girlfriend. The moms are honest about the mistakes they've made along the way, and they also tell how they manage to "do it all."

No, it's not easy, and it's not for everyone. But if you're thinking about working from home while raising your own children, "The Stay at Home Moms' Guide to Making Money" is an excellent place to start.

Quote of the Day:

Don't make a big deal out of everything; just deal with everything.

The universe, they said, depended for its operation on the balance of four
forces which they identified as charm, persuasion, uncertainty and
bloody-mindedness.
