Alexandra Levit
1 A great book that everyone should read
This book is incredibly insightful! Her writing style is fun yet professional and the points that she makes are applicable whether you are currently looking for work, starting at a new company, or looking to get the most out of your current job. Additionally, I got to meet the author, Alexandra Levit, when she spoke at Northwestern University and she is the very definition of business savvy--I highly recommend taking her advice to heart.
2 Incredibly Helpful
What an awesome book! Alexandra Levit gives it to you straight with sage advice, and field tested and proven tips and techniques. Before reading her book, the corporate world (and the world in general) looked so scary and intimidating. After reading her book, I can't wait to graduate and get out there and put her practical wisdom to good use! It is a slim volume, but it is PACKED with no-nonsense information. You will not find one line of filler here, and maybe that is why it is such an exciting and enjoyable read.

4 Helpful even AFTER college!
I bought this book for my little sister, who is a junior in college. Before I gave it to her, I started to thumb through it...then ended up reading the whole thing! Even though I'm in my late twenties, I found a lot of the information to be helpful in terms of my career and my husband's. In fact, he was interviewing for a new job while I read the book, so we used it for guidelines throughout the process. I'm delighted to say...HE GOT THE JOB! Thanks, Alexandra!
5 I Wish This Book Was Available When I Was In My Twenties
When I was in my twenties there were not any books available for women interested in the business world. If I had had this book then I would have saved myself alot of hard work, disappointments and discouragement. The practical ideas presented in this work makes entering the corporate world not so scary. This is a definite must read for today's young woman.
6 Get ready for a life-altering education!
After leaving my job, I was disillusioned about the direction of my career in Corporate America until I picked up and read Levit's book. She provides a voice of reason and a voice of wisdom as she guides you through every stage of the corporate game to assure your own personal fulfillment and success. Levit gives the reader confidence and a new outlook because she does not just provide comforting words. She elucidates her point with concrete examples. With the "Take Home Points" section at the end of each chapter, she makes sure that she has drilled in the mind of her reader the key lessons to each chapter. She demystifies Corporate America as she decodes the lingo, reveals insider secrets and strategies to overcome the common obstacles all face, and provides tools to understand the psychology of the workplace. Chapters such as "The Purposeful Workday," which deals with time management, procrastination and organization, and "People Management," which tackles dealing with difficult people and managing relationships with coworkers, are a must read for anyone in any work environment. Stressed out? Consult Levit's chapter "Check Your Attitude at the Door" where she armors you with ways to combat negativity, anger, worry and stress to come out victorious!
This book is not a one-time read. I predict that readers all across the country will bring it to work as a reference guide.
7 Gosh, I sure needed this, even with all my experience!
Alexandra Levit gives excellent advice in her "They Don't Teach Corporate in College". Her book contains well-written, straightforward tips on how to succeed and survive corporate life. Even for those of us from the entrepreneurial world, where the playing field is different, Ms Levit's book is a huge help with the transition to the corporate life. I highly recommend this book for up-and-coming graduates, graduates and those of us who have years in the working world and need a refresher or eye-opener!
8 Read the book!
I've retired and was looking for some words of advice for younger colleagues. I searched a bit for something of value. What I found were books filled with generalities that didn't capture what I thought appropriate for young people in business today. I happened across this book and, attracted by the title, gave it a read. It was just the thing. Instead of giving long speeches, I give questioning young professionals a copy with the counsel "read it".
9 A New Business Classic
Levit has written the handbook for corporate life. While it is sub-titled, "A Twenty-Something's Guide to the Business World", it is a useful resource for any "Corporate American" who wants a realistic view of how to succeed in business today. Chapters 8 and 9 ("Moving up in the World and "You're the Boss Now") particularly stand out as the 21st Century successor to such outstanding and pragmatic books as Adele Scheele's "Skills for Success". There are no platitudes in Levit's counsel: only hard won principles she has learned for herself. I would also recommend the book to human resources professionals, career coaches, and managers who want to be in touch with the aspirations and concerns of their employees.
10 Pleased
I was so pleased with Alexandra Levit's guide to the business world that I had to express my feelings. It made me see my role as a new employee in a new way. I especially liked the chapter on People Management. I thought that would be for executives or managers and that new people like me were the managed ones. I didn't realize the ways that I could manage THEM. Thanks.
11 A must have for twenty- somethings in any field!
This book is extremely well-written and fascinating throughout. It provides pertinent information for any college grad entering the business world, or any field. The tips and guidelines could be applied to almost any new job. And since any job or career has some aspects of the business world, these tips would give anyone an edge. Having the benefit of Ms. Levit's experiences and expertise is a great asset. This book is a must-read for a recent college-grad or any twenty-something who is beginning a new job or just trying to figure their life out!
12 A Must Read for College Grads!
I absolutely loved this book and highly recommend it to anyone starting out or in need of a refresher Corporate course! In They Don't Teach Corporate in College, Alexandra Levit draws upon her years of experience as a twenty-something business world veteran to offer the practical advice that entry level and junior employees need in order to succeed in today's tough business climate.
Levit focuses on tangible tactics that college grads and experienced twenty-somethings can use to increase their job potential and cultivate their careers.
They Don't Teach Corporate in College is fun, informative, sassy and jam-packed with useful, encouraging suggestions to help the "newbie" on his or her path up the corporate ladder. This book is a tremendous tool and gives you the foundation you need in order to navigate those shark-filled waters!

13 A great book for 20 somethings
When I was 25, I had a quarterlife "crisis". If I had read this excellent book, I am confident that I could have followed her advice, and thrived in the corporate environment. Her time-saving strategies and networking advice was extremely useful. The entire book was very well-written.
14 A great guide to Corporate America!
Alexandra Levit writes in a clear, concise manner about hunting for jobs, making a great first impression, combating negative people and many other useful facts for people in the corporate world. I wish I had read her book earlier. I strongly recommend it to others.
15 Must Have For College Grads Just Entering Corporate Life
Written in a clear and no-nonsense style the tips on how to deal with topics like email etiquette and dealing with review time are invaluable. This book is the mentor that you wont find in your boss and the know how that you can't get from your peers who are probably going through the same thing.
16 Great pick for those entering Corporate America!
The book not only provides an honest account of what challenges lie ahead for a 20-something clawing her way through Corporate America, but also provides concrete strategies and approaches on how to overcome the challenges and succeed. The information provided in the book is an insider's view of all of the things that are not taught in college -- and is even more valuable to recent college grads and 20-somethings in these challenging economic times.
