Viking 32 MB SmartMedia Card (SSFDC3/32)

1 Excellent, high-quality memory card.
The Viking 32 MB SmartMedia memory card is an excellent quality card that works as promised. Its suppliers deliver my orders at the speed of lightening or e-mail. I've used the Viking SmartMedia cards exclusively for the last two years without a single problem. The photos are clear. I have no problem retrieving them off the card. My Olympus Digital 3.0 MP Camera D550 records about 350 photos at 640X480 resolution. The Viking price on Amazon.com is the best on the market.
2 Works great
I've ordered three of these things. They work great. Never had any problems. They come with a nice plastic case that is perfect for storing the cards in my camera bag.

Update:
I think I own about six of these by now (12/2003). Still, no problems.

3 get it free with camera purchase
If that doesn't qualify for a 5 rateing I don't know what does. Increases (at 1600x1200) amount of pictures you take from 16 on the 8 meg card to 64.
4 I used it for photos of my daughters wedding
I have had mine for awhile now and can't think of being without it. I use it mainly for my digital camera. I take allot of pictuers so it gets lots of use. Its like haveing a hard drive for my photos. The transfer rate is fast and flawless. I am going to order a few more just to have them. You know I trust it when I used it for the photos of my daughters wedding. I have some that were more expensive but they don't work any better then this one does.
5 Great addition for my first digital camera
I bought this to go with my new Olympus Camedia D370 digital camera. It is a GREAT addition. Not only does it increase the capacity of the camera several fold, there was no setup. I inserted the media and boom! Extra capacity. . .
6 Works fine...
I rate everything I buy so that others can choose good products to buy. It seems silly to rate this, but I will. I use this memory in my digital video camera and it works fine. Memory either works or it doesn't. This memory worked fine for my application.
7 A fine upgrade!
I bought a couple of these smartmedia cards for my Eigerman F20 mp3 player and they work like a charm. Easy to carry, easy to use, holds about 30 minutes of music per card (depending on the rip).

If you are looking for a card to expand an Eigerman this is a good choice. Unfortunately (if you own an F20), this is the largest card it will take.

8 Do the math.
I have been buying Viking in both SmartMedia and CompactFlash itinerations for the last 2 years. I've never had a problem and I find they are priced more competitively than the other leading brand. However, I always buy by the dollar-per-meg calculation, and currently this number should always be less than 1. Also, if you're looking to save $, shop the same card for a week or two and you might see some serious price fluctuations.
9 Exceptional
The results I obtained With this card is fantastic . I strongly recommend it to anyone with a digital camera that accepts this type SmartMedia Card. Thank you, Gil Trudeau
10 buy online
I bought a digital camera and I would like to add some memory. Because there are so many different cards, I was afraid to buy online. The search engine is very good and I was able to find a card matching my camera. The card fits well and add 99 pictures above a card holding 24. The pictures are similar if not identical in quality compared with the one purchased with the camera.
11 Great card
What is there to say? Great card for increasing your storage capacity. No problems whatsoever. The only question is, as cheap as these cards are getting, why not go ahead and spring for the 64 or 128 card?
12 smart media card
I own the Ricoh RDC5000 digital camera, and I have been using an eight megabyte card. I was constantly having to download after only nine pictures at the higher resolutions. The 32 megabyte card quadruples my output with a minimum cost. I have just ordered another one so that I will have plenty of memory for my vacation.
13 Just as good as any other
While the Viking products take the heat for being the "generic" products I believe they are just as good as the leaders and being cheaper they are perhaps the better buy. I purchased my memory card for a trip I was taking to San Francisco. After coming home with 200+ pictures on my card I would have been heartbroken should something have happened along the way but here I am today with all my pictures intact. In fact the Viking memory card has NEVER let me down. Please tell me why I ever considered going with a more expensive memory card?
14 ITS A MEMORY CARD!!!
I used this in my Creative Labs Nomad IIc and have had no problems, although I cant really imagine having problems with unwrapping a card, putting it an a device it fits into, and your done. Dont bother with more exspensive brands, in this case the cheaper brand works just as well as the other. One word of caution: make sure this card works with the device your using. To do this Amazon has a thing that tells you what memory card to use in what devices.
15 Want to know how many pictures a smart media can hold?
Here is general guidline of about how many pictures a smart media card can hold. This list was made up using a 2.1 mega pixel camera at 1600x1200 resolution. (The Fuji Finepix 2300). So if you have a higher mega pixel camera the amount of pictures it can hold will decrease and you will be able to hold a few more pictures with a lower mega pixel model. But these numbers will give you a basic idea so you will know what capacity of smart media card is for you. (1600x1200 resolution) Example: Listed is the card capacity with the amount of photos it can hold in the camera's Fine (best mode), Normal, and Basic photo modes. (Fine,Normal,Basic)

8 MB (9,19,39) 16 MB (19,39,75) 32 MB (40,82,155) 64 MB (82,170,330) 128 MB (168,350,700)

*Most camera's normal mode takes pictures of good enough quality for most photos you will take, unless the camera is under 1.3 mega pixels.

*Many cameras come with a 8MB memory card. But that usually isn't enough memory for most people, here is what I would suggest purchasing:

My suggestions:

1-1.9 mega pixel camera - 8MB or 16 MB

2-2.9 mega pixel camera - 32 MB

3 mega pixels and up - 64 MB

16 Works as promised
Works great in my Fuji digicam. No problems.
17 reliable brand..
I bought one for my "Eiger Labs F20 MP3 Player". It works perfectly..

+price is incredable

highly recommended...

18 good deal...
This does it's job at a good price!.... A good deal for everyone since it is so small and light.
19 No fuss
Don't understand the problems that other folks had. It is just memory and you should find out whether it is go/no-go right away. In this case, it is no fuss for my Olympus D460; it did not require formatting. Buy it You just cannot beat the price of $32 and no shipping from Amazon.com (for 32MB postage stamp size memory! I wanted to cry when thinking about the $500 that I paid for my first 40 MB external hard drive for my Mac!).
20 Great Deal, Great Product
If I were you I would ignore any negative review about this SmartMedia card. The only negative review I've seen about this product came from someone who tried to stick this 32MB card in an old Digital Camera that only takes up to 16MB cards. A quick check on Kingston's or your camera manufacturer's website could clue you into this. After you know this capacity of card will work in your electronic device, buy this card. It is the best deal going and it comes with a nice little case (not some flimsy soft sleeve). I am pretty sure I will buy another.
21 It works just fine, and priced competitively
I bought this card to replace the 8MB card that came with my Toshiba Allegretto M4 and it works perfectly fine. Even fully loaded at 32 megs of pictures, retrieval is just as quick as with any other SmartMedia card. Additionally, it's a Viking product, so it's likely to bring with it the reliability its brand name carries. If you want more beef, there's bigger capacities, but as of this writing this is the best priced card for the storage.
22 Let the buyer beware!
This product is listed as compatible with my camera, an Olympus D-340R, in several locations on the Amazon website. However, after purchasing the card and attempting, unsuccessfully, to format it in my camera, I found by searching further (the Viking site) that the 32MB card requires some type of Olympus upgrade to be usable. The message is: Let the buyer beware!
23 Excellent Choice
I bought this for my Fuji Finepix 1400. Buying Fuji card or Olympus card was an more expensive choice. I think this is a good choice as it works fine.
24 works perfectly
It works just fine. No problems setting it up for my eiger mpman player. Has been recorded over dozens of times, no hassles, no fuss.

A good buy.

25 Awesome!!
Works great for my Rio PMP300. :)
26 THE PREVIOUS REVIEWER IS OBVIOUSLY A STOCKHOLDER!
It's a memory card, it works. Period.
27 Another GREAT VIKING product! Everyone should have one!
Viking 32MB Smart Media card:

I bought it for my Diamond RIO PMP 500 MP3 Player. It works wonderfully for storing MP3 Music. I have used Viking products before and they are known for high quality products. If you'll give Viking a try you'll see why they have such a good reputation. I am using it with the Viking SSFDC/AFP smartmedia to floppy disk adapter and it is working wonderfully. I highly recommend the product and I give it a 5 star rating. Please pass the word along - you WON'T be sorry, trust me!

28 Pretty good
A pretty good third party accesory. Works well with my Rio 500hundred, and is [less expensive] than the 32 meg card made by Diamond themselves. Also, they have a compatibility garantee in case it doesn't work. Pretty good choice.

Q: How many Californians does it take to screw in a light bulb?
A: Five. One to screw in the light bulb and four to share the
experience. (Actually, Californians don't screw in
light bulbs, they screw in hot tubs.)

Q: How many Oregonians does it take to screw in a light bulb?
A: Three. One to screw in the light bulb and two to fend off all
those Californians trying to share the experience.
